Have you ever played competitive sports? There is no way they just cashed it in and rolled over because it wasn't for the NC. At that level you give it your all every time out, especially if it is your last college game and you care trying to impress NFL scouts.Yes the same Alabama team that could care less about Oklahoma. None of those guys are going to play to their full capacity for a game that means nothing.

You should be paid for your opinion then, as most of the ones I've heard from that do get paid to discuss the games have discussed that most of the team played like no-shows.
I didn't actually sit down in front of the TV until the last 6 minutes of the game, which turned out to be all good stuff, so I'm happy. Anyway, before long I noticed this scene and it was so strange to me I kind of scratched my head a little bit:
Right after the FSU returner ran the kick-off back for TD, he was caught by the camera. This is a common thing after a big TD, usually the player screamed towards the camera (without us hearing anything cause there's no microphone) "we're #1" and/or showed some school-specific hand-gesture or something like that. But what this kid did was he immediately turned his back to the camera, and then pointed his thumbs to his name on the back of his jersey. I think it was Whitfield or something.
Did anyone else catch that? This is the first time I've ever seen anything like that.

I don't watch a lot of college, but I recall Randy Moss doing that last year when he scored a TD for the Niners. As if to remind everyone that he might be old, but he is still Randy Moss.
See that gives it a context, somewhat. And it's something you would expect coming from Randy Moss. But of course, he's Randy Moss, so he could do whatever he wants, including mooning Packer fans
That's exactly what he did! I guess I missed the reference there

The only thing that puzzled me about the final quarter is that Auburn stopped bringing the heat. They routinely rushed 4 linemen, and never really got to Winston in the decisive series.
On the bright side, Ohio State finally got revealed for the frauds they were.
And I'm going to respond to this once more. I'd put Michigan State up against any team in the country. They could easily have been in the National Championship game and would have had every right to be there, though I think they would have lost.
OSU wasn't a fraud, MSU is just a team that came into it's own.
P.S. - I'm a Michigan fan, so don't even go looking for fanboyism.
Looking back at the highlights, there are 2 plays that cost them the game. Changing just one would likely have shifted the outcome, eliminate both and it's a near certainty. I'd rank the kick return TD as the most significant. The score wasn't the most important factor of that play, but being able to score without running any time off was. The other play would be the fake punt.
As for MSU-OSU, the two thing clear from this are OSU was a fraud and MSU had produced on a SEC like defense level. MSU against a veteran offense would probably not be nearly as successful.
*snort*
An "SEC" like defense? Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan State are ranked in the top 10 defenses... and are all Big 10 teams. I'm not going to stand here and say the Big 10 is incredible. In fact, it's pretty poor. But trotting out the SEC as a comparison when they don't deserve it, just because 'hey they're the SEC" is pretty silly.
OSU a fraud? Tell the pollers in every major poll and the BCS. Because as far as I know they didn't drop all that far. 12th? 10th? 7th? Yeah... looks like a fraud to me.
I can't stand it when people can't make a basic argument accurately. Take off the rose colored slappy glasses and try a little objectivity.
