I think the bigger reason most people want it is because it's $300/350. ie. Most of us think those paying $750 for one are extremely foolish.

Hey if they're rich and don't care to overpay then good for them. Money comes and goes but time is something we never get back.

For the record, even if the N4 and Optimus G were the same price, be it ~$300 or ~$500, I'd pick the N4 every time.

I'd pick the Optimus G, and would recommend the Optimus G too to most who asked.

The Optimus G has fully-supported LTE, which is a huge advantage. As much as I much prefer vanilla Android and quick OS updates, the Optimus G is the higher spec'd device, with specs that actually matter: LTE / microSD, particularly the LTE.

Stock android matters more to me than LTE or SD card, and I bet a lot of people feel the same way.

Edit: Just to add I would recommend the optimus G to most people unless they were tech saavy.

does anyone have an iphone 4 and compare the nexus 4 to it?
I am curious how much faster the CPU & RAM are compared to an Iphone 4 as mine is starting to get slow and annoy me.

I have both and an ip5 that I'm going to sell now, the N4 blows away the 4, it's on the level of the ip5 really so the 4 doesn't really hold a candle to it.

If the Nexus 4 were $600 like other high end Android phones around here, I'd probably just get a subsidized iPhone. Not sure about the 5. Maybe a 5S or whatever it's called in 2013.

If I (and many others) just wanted LTE there are many phones to choose from before even considering the Optimus. People want it because it's a Nexus, not because it's an LG.

It's the same but lesser in many ways to the Optimus.

No LTE, no micro SD slot-

Price is about the same. $100, $325 ETF or keep the contract for a few months and the phone is less than $400.

The only thing you're not getting right now is the official JB.

The Nexus really doesn't seem to be such a good deal at nearly $400 with tax and shipping.

Perhaps to you. I value my stock Android (or in other words, not having to deal with manufacturer customization and delayed updates). I don't particularly enjoy ROM'ing like others here do, so the Nexus line is quite important to me.

Keeping a phone on an expensive contract plan a few months longer for the ETF fee to go down doesn't make the phone cost less. Because every month you are paying more towards the phone by being on the contract in the first place, it's how those plans work.

And the Optimus G is listed at $200 by the carriers. If you buy it at $100 from Amazon, then I believe you have to pay Amazon's $250 ETF ontop of the carriers $325 ETF.

Plus there are usually other fees and taxes involved in signing up with a contract plan.

No, I don't think the Optimus G would even remotely end up being as nice of a deal as the Nexus 4.

$400 for a Nexus 4 is a decent deal.

With no LTE, I wouldn't pay $600 for one though, much less $750.

What does an iPad have to do with an Android phone?

just trying to decide if I should jump out of IOS completely now, since I will have a nexus 4 soon.

All things being equal the nexus 4 is wayyy cheaper than an iphone 5. and apps and stuff b/w those two are pretty close.
However, price difference between a high end android tablet and an ipad is not much. The app difference is big. I just bought an ipad because of the lack of google tablet apps and all but now im unsure lol.

why would you buy an optimus g and them hit the ETF? What's the point of buying an AT&T phone and then dropping out? Are you planning to move to StraightTalk or T-Mobile? Then you already forfeited LTE. I'm kinda confused. If I'm buying a branded phone, chances are that I'm sticking with that carrier. Given you can only pick between T-Mobile and AT&T anyway....

I am sorry but I don't follow. A phone and a tablet are two different products. How does getting an iPad replace your need for a phone?

So this is the first time I've ever actually used Groove IP and I must say it's awesome. I've got my Verizon phone sitting in my pocket as a hotspot and I'm using the Nexus 4 to make all my calls lol. Getting the Straight Talk sim tonight from Walmart.

It's not really a fair comparison at all. A iPhone 5 blows away the iPhone 4 in everyday usage. A Nexus 4 is at least as fast. Comparing a 2010 phone to what is essentially a 2013 phone should be night and day.

didn't know about Amazon's little extra fee :-( bummer.

Thanks
