My GV number still hasn't fully ported over to ST and my N4. Still shows up as my GV # and ST lists the number as invalid but starting today, I can make phone calls and texts from the phone but no data.

It's surprising how Windows 8 apps are already out in force. Android tablets have been out for 2 years now and we're still lacking an ESPN, Twitter, Facebook for tablets... lol...and thought Facebook taking 1+ year to develop for the iPad was bad enough.

Yeah. At the end of the day it really is just about app support. When the hell are we going to get it?

Pretty much sums up my feelings about this tablet. I want to buy one for the specs, and because im pretty heavily invested in everything google, but until they prove that devs will commit to making tablet apps im out.

But then again, my main uses for getting a tablet would be:
-chrome (most of my usage will be here, and I havent been on a ipad in a while, or tested the surface for more than 20 mins in the store, but im guessing google wins this category)
-games
-google stuff - calendar, gmail, etc

I think if they had a really nice dock, and a decent word processing app, i think it would be worth it for me, but as of right now im pretty sure the google docs app sucks, and the office app still hasnt been released yet. I havent seen any third party keyboard docks yet for the nexus 10 - which is a big downside for me, since i would be replacing my laptop with this.

Im sticking with my macbook air as my portable device until i see how things play out.

Right now i think my ideal device would be a surface pro, maybe running haswell - depending on how bad battery life is with ivb. That way even if there is no tablet app, its still pretty much a full out windows PC, which is an advantage that google or apple will never have.

Until the Nexus 7 was released, IMO it was almost pointless for developers to release Android tablet apps. Big moving target with a mish-mash of OS versions, most of which weren't even meant for tablets. Furthermore, most of the tablets were crap anyway.

This may have been mentioned previously in this thread; however, here it is again.

There is a report on Google and if your device is affected by any hardware defects, etc. you are able to provide feedback directly to Google. Below is the website, where I have already added a comment to the growing list of similar issues regarding what seems to be a potential hardware defect in the ear piece speaker/speaker assembly/etc.

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39936

I love this phone, but there is a cause for concern as my call quality is affected by this potential hardware defect. When listening to voice during calls, the quality is what I describe as distorted and it seems to be resulting from something that is loose or the speaker even sounds blown. I am able to understand everything, but the call quality is not what I expect from a new device. I don't think I'm willing to settle for this "buzzing" or "rattling" during every call I make or receive. Hopefully, this will be addressed by LG or Google soon.

^I would go for a replacement, my earpiece and speaker sound great on mine I'm really happy with the clarity and I haven't been getting any popping or crackling on either speaker.

Has anyone had problems with MMS not working? I'm using mine on my ATT account for now until I decide what prepaid to switch to and everything is working fine except for MMS, I figure it's my APN settings so if anyone could post their APN settings on ATT that would be cool.

I think with Android, it's even worse because for an app like Dropbox, it's technically functional, but it looks rather stupid while using it. If the app didn't exist, you could have people complain about it not being available instead of bad design (which most people don't care about, but I definitely do).

Yeah that's a huge pet peeve of mine. I think app developers should work quickly to put the iOS and Android versions on equal footing quickly. I actually think Dropbox is ok, but I'm not a fan of cloud storage in general. Box seems to have a better layout but the desktop client blows.

The Dropbox app was actually *much* better a year or two ago. The big upgrade since made it look like iOS, with its crappy no-filesystem "functionality" and having to "export" instead of local syncing.

When you ordered, how long did it say the delay was going to be?

i decided to go for the replacement. called goog and spent 10 minutes on the phone. the process was pretty seamless and the rep said my phone should be on it's way (which is surprising since both models are on backorder?) maybe they really do have a supply for RMAs only? oh well, hopefully the replacement won't have the issue with the earpiece.

Phone apps run fine on a Nexus 7 because you primarily use it in a portrait interface and you'll rarely use landscape mode for anything but video. At $200, it's a good price. However, I personally will not be buying any more non-hi DPI devices and know that a better 7" Nexus with a Tegra 4 or Snapdragon S4 Pro has to be in the works with a 1080p screen (315 PPI for those who care). Now, if they can make that tablet for $250, I'd be all over that since I consider reading text one of the primary functions of a tablet, especially a 7" sized one.

Hmmm... I just ordered the DROID Razr HD. It's NOT vanilla Android, but people claim it's closer to regular Android than most. Only 4.0.4 right now but starting to get updated to 4.1.

Real LTE, microSD, micro-HDMI.

I wasn't going to, but my carrier gave it to me "free" with a 2-year contract, with a very decent plan (at least for Canada). $56 for 2 GB data and unlimited everything else.

So, I'm thinking I should just cancel my Nexus 4, but I'm not sure. I don't really need two Android high end smartphones. I do much prefer basic Android, but then again, I'm told it's nowhere near as gaudy as the Galaxy S III's skin.

Use the RAZR HD until you get the Nexus 4. Then keep one and sell the other. I had another chance to play with Nexus 4. This time for little longer. Nexus 4 is fast. It's the fastest and smoothest Android device I tried so far. I don't think you'll be disappointed with N4. It's worth waiting for.

You should just wait it out. Do you really think you'll be happy with a Moto phone?
No idea, as I've never owned a Motorola smartphone. To be honest, it wasn't the 'droid I was looking for, but hey, it's "free".

Because this plan is killer, I would have gotten it anyway (or something similar) with the Nexus 4. People are leaving other carriers and bringing their own unlocked phones to get this plan. Imagine my surprise when I found out I could get the Razr HD for all of fifteen bux out of pocket with this same plan. The catch is that I have to sign for 2 years, which I don't mind doing because the plan is so good (by Canadian standards).

(You can't get a subsidized iPhone on this plan. The corresponding identical iPhone plan is unadvertised and has to be negotiated, but still costs 20% more.)

I'm tempted to do that, but I don't like dealing with Kijiji so much.

BTW, fully supported LTE on the Razr HD is nice, but then again, you can sort of set LTE in Canada on the Nexus 4.

The N4 is a better phone than the RAZR HD, but it's not significantly better. And moto's skin is really close to stock these days. My RAZR HD just got 4.1 today. Moto is trying really hard to turn their image around and, while I'm still cautious, I'm pretty optimistic about the job they're trying to do going forward.

Well that's shocking. Initially... as in one month ago, the Razr HD on Fido was going for $450 on a 2-year contract.

http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/11/05/f...a-razr-hd-available-only-to-select-customers/

Now they're going for $50 or free (depending on the customer's contract situation) on a 2-year contract. Good for those of us getting it now, but really, WTF?

It's still only for "select" customers though, and not advertised on their website. I wonder why it's got such a low profile. Do people dislike Motorola that much these days?

That's encouraging. I guess having Google own Motorola pushes them more toward stock than gaudy skinning. I just hope the carrier bloatware isn't too much.

If I like it a lot, I'll just cancel the Nexus 4 order. May as well save the $422.

If you can make calls and texts but no data, you didn't set up your APN.

Actually, it's set up right. I had to call ST to get them to do something to get data working. Now, I'm only getting 7 kbps down and 79 kbps up. And the closest server I can connect to Speedtest is in Carmel, IN. I'm in MA.
WTF
