Agreed, it's great pricing. It's not a 'preorder right away' pricing for me ($299 for 16 GB is), but I don't think it's that reasonable anyway. I don't think they can go lower than this.

I wonder if they're going to discount Galaxy Nexus even more after this is out or if they would just discontinue it.

I disagree. That pricing is fucking massive pure & epic WIN. I can't think of a better priced new smart phone - even if we consider pricing alone, what is going to beat 350 dollars?

Nowhere will you find a Google Nexus 4 16gig that has ANYWHERE near the same features for 350 dollars. 550 dollars +? Yup, but you have a 200 dollar discount and a clean android phone.

The only thing it lacks is LTE, and I don't care as I'm on Tmobile anyways and it'll be HSPA+ for quite a while

Wow. The pricing just blew me away? $299/$349 for 8gb/16gb? Is Google serious? That is awesome! Huge thumbs up to Google. Google is trying their best to disrupt the carrier pricing model. Unlocked top of the line phone at $299/$349? I still can't believe it. Google is begging you to go prepaid. I was thinking about keeping my Galaxy Nexus but at this price I have to upgrade. $349 16gb model for me please!

Wow. Is anyone else COMPLETELY disappointed by Google for just subtly releasing these devices? No press conference is crazy when you have MS releasing W8/WP8 and Apple releasing 2 new iPads.

I can't understand Google's logic in any of this. Sure, the hurricane messed things up, but the fact is they could have waited and should have or at least scheduled it on another day instead of trying to steal thunder from MS. Not to mention, everything has been leaked for ages and there is absolutely nothing new. They release a new OS, and they don't even tell you what is truly new about it.

Come on, Google.. 8 GB and 16 GB in a world with capped data. Seriously? I'm just really frustrated about all of this as you can tell.

QQ much?

Per your points they hit every consumer with this approach:
(a) Everyone knows it already, so there is no benefit to use the Press Conference to make the initial release to the public (GARR ebil companies suck that try to make a profit during these times!)
(b) They will still do a press conference to go over the new features formally and explain the details for people who don't want to read all the details on gadget sites (I want someone to formally step through it all!)
(c) They still steal MS's thunder and can start selling earlier (SHUTUP AND TAKE MY MONEY!)

On the topic of a smart phone
(d) you can purchase unlimited phone plans if you are interested and are not locked into a capped contract.
(e) 16GB is fine; 8GB is small, but is still plenty for users that just play angry birds all day long & check facebook 100 times a day. What will attract them is the 299 price.
(f) The trade offs are great if you aren't stuck with CDMA - LTE vs HSPA+ isn't a massive loss. Yeah LTE is faster, but I'm not tethering my phone and using it as a replacement for my wired line at home. People insist on all this bandwidth for a phone when the phones themselves really aren't made to utilize that bandwidth...unless you just and try to stream 720p on a phone to watch movies??? And if you are - welcome to the top 1%

I'm just concerned about batterylife, but at 350 I can live with charging it every 10 hours.

i was just coming to post the same thing.

I thought since the gnex was like ~800 and now at $350, it was gonna be at least 5-600 when it came out. This is awesome news indeed.

the only thing i really dont like about this is the bezel on top and bottom, too big. If it were a little sleeker, it would be enough for me to upgrade from my gnex.

The only thing im thinking now is that maybe someone will release an ultra nexus for a little more money.

It's fantastic pricing!

I ordered the Gnex last Spring when they started selling it through the play store at 399. The Nexus 4 is a MUCH better phone for $50 less, I can't wait to order this.

I was worried that it wouldn't have penta-band support, but now that the landing page is up, I can rest easy.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

The great part is that the LG hardware is nice, but I won't have to rely for them on SW.

Looking to sell that galaxy nexus at all? LMK

Is there a cheaper smart phone to be had at this price?

My galaxy nexus battery life is ridiculously good, i just went 48 hours on a single charge with moderate use. With little to no use the battery barely drains at all.

And thats basically the same phone with a smaller battery. The nexus 4 has a battery that is 2100mah vs 1750 on the gnex.

I agree LTE is pretty pointless right now for most applications, and only hurts battery life. Not sure how much IPS vs OLED will affect battery as well.

Not me. I'd rather know the official specs and price now than wait for a press conference. There's nothing stopping a more detailed explanation of Android 4.2 after the hurricane.

Anyway, I'm completely sold. 8GB is likely enough for my usage. Either way, I was expecting to have to spend $800 for new phones for my wife and myself come the new year, assuming the new nexus was going to be $400 out the gate. Now I'm looking at spending $100 to $200 less. I'm stoked. I can't wait to dump Sprint post-paid and jump on Straight Talk.

http://www.theverge.com/2012/10/29/3569688/why-nexus-4-does-not-have-4g-lte

The reason why it doesn't have LTE. It's definitely a good explanation that makes sense. We wouldn't have been able to get the phone that cheap if it did and the carriers have been screwing up the Nexus phones so this means Google has 100% total control of the phone. People were complaining about why Verizon or Sprint versions took long to get updates, all the carriers fault.

Do you stream all of your music? I guess I'm still old school.

Yeah these prices are amazing, I really did not believe it would launch for this low. I'm really tempted to pick up both a nexus 4 and a nexus 10, but I can't decide if I really need a 10" tablet or not.

Damn, I wonder if I should get rid of my GN now. Probably wouldn't even get $150 for it.

Nice. Wireless charging. It'd be awesome if the touchpad wireless charging station works with it.

Yawn, the Nexus 10 will have no device specific apps. Good luck with your scaled up version of the phone apps. The android tablet ecosystem is terrible. Actually its pretty much non existent at this point.

I'll enjoy the vastly superior operating system. Yes apps are lacking but the OS more than makes up for it.
