I believe TMobile has their own special price on the Nexus 4. $500. Or $200 on 2yr contract.

No, not ordering a Nexus 4 from TMo, ordering the $30 100m/5GB plan direct from TMo. Does it work on a tablet if you order it through TMo as opposed to getting it at Walmart.

It's close Nexus 10 vs. iPad, I've been having quite an ordeal deciding, especially when smaller alternatives and Windows RT are thrown in.

Nexus 10 Pros
- $90 cheaper (in Canada)
- A15 is probably faster
- Higher resolution
- Google updates and search
- Android configurability and multitasking

New iPad Pros
- 4:3 screen for PDF's and the web
- Application selection
- Bigger battery, battery life?
- iOS simplicity
- Accessory selection

What are you talking about? This is not 2007. You make it sound like the Android store doesn't even have Angry Birds, or something.
Haha, seriously. Reading this sub forum is becoming almost unbearable. The same posters (on both sides) that predictably preach the same nonsense over and over hoping someone will take them seriously. I thought it was getting better when quebert left... oh well.

To be fair, there's still only a handful of tablet optimized applications, Google TV isn't really a contender or anything, and we don't really have the accessories that Apple always gets. I can understand what he means is all I'm saying.

I think Android has grown exponentially and has a great ecosystem.

it doesn't.... you're hoping the ecosystem takes off afterwards
Huh? For apps, Android is actually pretty decent. What's missing is the multimedia content in some aspects, but for me that's never been an issue, since I generally don't buy iTunes content.

It certainly looks from the pictures to be much better looking than the Galaxy S III. Mind you, it's moot, because I wouldn't ever consider buying the GS3 anyway, with its bloated skinned OS.

It's grown, but you're still buying and waiting for the tablet ecosystem to match iOS or say the phone ecosystem. It's just not a done deal yet. Several major apps aren't tablet ready yet. I wouldn't be surprised if we still don't have something til well into 2013 (yes I'm looking at you Facebook).

Wow. They're right. It does look freaking fantastic. I wish it was on Verizon so bad! If anyone were to look at a map of my coverage, it's completely pathetic which carrier to choose. It goes Verizon >>>>>>>> AT&T >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> T-Mo.

Also, the worst part is I'm on an employee account so I get my plan for a lot cheaper than the norm and I have unlimited data. This phone is making me seriously question if I want to leave VZW for it. I might wait a while for the 32 GB that's bound to come out, and then buy it.. We'll see!

As long as you don't live in a rural area, Tmobile's reception works really well. In fact, since the network isn't as clogged, it can be faster in quite a bit faster than AT&T in few of the major cities.

Take Walmart out of the equation. Walmart just sells the prepaid sim cards - the same sim card that you can get at the tmobile site or in a store. There is absolutely no difference whether you buy the prepaid sim from walmart vs tmobile.

And there should really be no issue using it on a tablet unless the tablet is locked to TMO, which I highly doubt.

Can you look at the coverage map for 16146 on both ATT and TMO and tell me which you think would actually be better for me? I travel fairly often, but it's never into some crazy backwoods or anything of that sort. I don't even know what kind of service TMO offers here. That is to say, I don't know if it's HSPA+ or just regular ol' 3G.

I want that Nexus 4 so bad. >_<

Engadget Review

Review is probably a bit rushed but it's not pretty. Battery life is horrible and benchmarks are far slower than less specced phones.

Even at €349 Google can keep it. Tempted by the HTC 8X.

TheVerge

Another rushed review but they have less issues...

Anand'd short blip sounds like the N4 tends to overheat and then throttle itself (which is why the benchmarks are disappointing). That's just garbage if true =(

Ouch, that sucks, and AnandTech agrees. Much slower than expected, and bad battery life.

If it was merely mediocre performance and battery life, my purchase decision would have been made, but now I'm reconsidering. I may get the iPhone 5 after all. Decisions, decisions...

The Verge seems to have had MUCH better battery life? After 10 hours 45%? Anyway, if Lack of LTE seems like the biggest con then this is a winner in my book (I use very thin covers). Just gotta sell my GN now.

I'd probably skip the T-Mobile store if trying to get the $30 5GB pre-paid plan. The store can sell you a SIM card, but they apparently have to activate it in the store and the $30 5GB plan is only available online, they can't give you that plan in store, so they'll activate it with some other plan and you then won't be able to use the $30 5GB plan with the SIM.

I ended up making this mistake, they ended up charging me $10 for the SIM and I ended up having to order another SIM online and starting over.

Anyone know if the Nexus 7 wifi versions have been changed other than price and memory ?

At Google Play store the silver bezel of the original Nexus 7 looks black. Maybe that signifies a refresh ?

I'm mostly wondering, hoping, they have upgraded the screen and speaker as those are weak points of the Nexus 7 compared to the Kindle Fire HD.

Yikes, I wonder how that throttling will increase with a big fat construction-proof otterbox on it? Yet another case for having an SD card slot: air circulation.
Not to change the subject, but the comments section on the nexi review is the biggest piss-moan fest I've seen in a while, and I've been reading political forums for a month. What the hell?

I read somewhere the 32GB Nexus 7 has some sort of new power management chip, but that would have no impact on performance or anything really (maybe they needed a new supplier or something).

Other than that, I think they are really all identical.

The silver bezel sometimes looks black in some pictures because of the lighting. Pretty sure it's still silver.

The screen and speakers are still the same unfortunately.

Hopefully it's just something with Android 4.2 that Google needs to update (they still have 11 days to fix it).

Optimus G seemed to do really well with those same benchmarks. It's got the same identical internals we believe, it's just running Android 4.1.

Crossing my fingers it's just a software issue.

You must of missed the 920 review about piss-moan fest. That will only get worse as the 920 and nexus 4 got the same score in camera. That and the verge called anything the 920 did well as basically a worthless gimmick.

I have time on my side I will wait for a revision to the nexus 4 hopefully ditching the glass back, fixed thermal issues and improved battery life.

Gizmodo says it's because of some sort of bug in the camera app that drains the battery like crazy. I guess this isn't a final production model (thank god)

Yeah, unfortunately it also looks like the N4 glass back plate is also very fragile. This is according to several early reports and vids out there.
