in tank vs tank battle how does the 4shot match up agaisnt the 1shot tank

I assume you mean the Bradley vs either an M1 Abrams or a T-90.

The heavy tanks(M1 or T-90) will win a straight up battle with either of the light tanks(Bradley or the BMD-3) if both are full health. If you are in a light tank and spot a heavy, either have someone ready to hop out and keep repairing you or have some engineers ready to help you out with RPGs.

Sneaking up behind them and shooting the rear section of the tank will do even more damage, also.

New Battlefield Blog post: New Console Server update, May 11th

Coming Tuesday, May 11th an update introducing multiple balance adjustments will go live for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield Bad Company 2. Included in this update are all the changes previously found in the Ch Ch Changes Blog Post (see below) as well as some additional tweaking and tuning based on feedback from our ever vocal PC community. You can find the list of the most recent changes below, and the full list of previous changes in the Ch Ch Changes Blog Post. Don't worry PC players, these new updates will soon be making their way to you in the very near future.

Slightly increased the damage of the UZI at long range.
The AKs74u now has more felt recoil when aiming.
The G3, VSS, and all SemiAutomatic rifles now settle slightly faster between shots when aiming.
The PKM, Type 88LMG, G3, An94, and 40mm shotgun have returned to their former glory.
Increased the damage of the MG3 to bring it in line with the rest of the LMGs.
Fixed a bug where the Saiga12 with slugs would do too much damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where the SVU would do too little damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where M95 rounds would not kill armored targets with headshots.

New Battlefield Blog Post: Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes...

As requested by the community, here is the exhaustive all inclusive changelist of all balance updates made in the R10 Server update for PC.

Increased the base range of all Automatic and Semiautomatic weapons for more consistent close range combat.
Slightly increased the damage of Semiautomatic rifles over long range for more consistent damage output.

Increased the zoomed burst accuracy of LMGs and decreased LMG accuracy when moving to reduce LMG run and gun.
Decreased the base damage of the M60 and XM8 LMGs to bring them in line with the other LMG damage values.
Decreased the damage of the PKM over long range to balance it with other LMGs.
Increased the base damage of the Type88 LMG to balance it with other LMGs.

Slightly reduced the base damage of the M16 and G3 to balance the increased range.
Slightly increased the damage of the AEK971, F2000, AN94, and AUG over long range to balance them with other Assault Rifles.

Reduced the lethal blast range of the 40mm grenade and M2CG to highlight their role as a secondary weapon against infantry.
Slightly Reduced the max range of the 40mm shotgun to balance it with other shotguns.
Slightly increased the base damage of shotgun rounds and reduced their range to clarify ideal shotgun combat distance.

Reduced the base damage of the PP2000 to balance the increased range.
Increased the damage of the 9A91 over long range to balance its lower magazine size.

Increased the damage and range of the M9, M93 pistols to make them more desirable as a secondary weapon.
Increased the range of the MP443 pistol to make it more desirable as a secondary weapon.
Increased the damage of the MP412 over long range to balance its low rate of fire.
Slightly reduced the rate of fire of the M1911 pistol to balance it with other pistols.

Increased the repair and overheat speeds of the Power Tool. Now overheats sooner but repairs the same amount before overheating.
Increased the maximum number of Motion Sensors that can be carried from 2 to 3 and increased the speed which new sensors are acquired from ammo boxes.
Significantly increased the speed of the Tracer Dart projectile to make it more effective against airborne targets.
Increased the reload time of the Mortar Strike and reduced the damage it does to heavily armored vehicles.
Decreased the range of Bolt Action Sniper and Pump Shotgun Slug rounds when using Magnum Ammo for better Kit Balance, especially in Hardcore.
Slightly increased the Health of soldiers in Hardcore for better Kit Balance.

Increased the benefit from the Medkit Heal+ specialization to make it more desirable as a Specialization.
Decreased the benefit from Vehicle Reload Speed to balance it against other Vehicle Specializations.
Slightly decreased the benefit from accuracy specializations to balance the changes to range and accuracy tweaks.


Fixed a bug where the BMD3 would take extra damage to the front armor.
Reduced the explosive damage from Attack Helicopter cannons.
Increased the damage of AA guns against all targets. The AA gun should be much more effective against infantry on Port Valdez.

These changes will eventually make their way to the 360 and PS3 as we work with our partners Microsoft and Sony to continue to support BFBC2 on all platforms.

If you are a sniper it only takes two bullets (w/ Magnum ammo) to take down the UAV. If you are good at the stationary AT you can hit the Blackhawk and it's an awesome sight.

It's pretty awesome, me and my friends have a 4 man squad that dominates every game we play.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught mode can be played with up to four players across four multiplayer maps Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes, and Nelson Bay redesigned with new lighting, time of day, added vehicles and other effects. Each map has a dedicated gameplay focus, requiring different levels of teamwork in order to complete the objectives against an onslaught of enemy AI. Vehicle warfare comes to the forefront in Atacama Desert while Nelson Bay focuses squarely on infantry assault. Players can compete in squads and check individual progress via the dedicated Onslaught leaderboards.

Yeah, I heard about Onslaught earlier this morning, sounds neat. Honestly though I'm already getting burned out on BC2 and I don't play it very often as it is. I'm contemplating selling it (which sucks as they're releasing a ton of content for it). MW2 on the other hand I'm still playing and enjoying alot.

Different strokes for different folkes I suppose.

True true. I stopped playing MW2 after my first prestige. I did the same with WaW. I enjoy the teamwork factor in BC2 a lot more. I was a combat medic in Planetside back in the day and this reminds me a lot of that play style.

I wish MW2 would let you do matchmaking for SpecOps. I never could get any of my friends online at the same time that wanted to go after some stars. Hopefully Onslaught Mode has some sort of matchmaking.

Wasn't trying to start a flame war, both are great games. The SP in MW2 destroys BC2 for example.

I've put some decent time into the game, and I don't think it will ever top MW2 in my mind. I mean I like the teamwork part, but since I don't have many people to play with I'm just finding random folks online and that's making it frustrating.

I also can't stand how you can't leave a game while it's loading... have to wait to join the game just to hit start>exit.

I'm with you. It's a nice change of pace but for me it isn't as enjoyable as MW2. I'm contemplating selling my copy...we'll see.

Looks like they just pushed a title update to unlock the achievements for the Dr. Pepper code users. If you've already done the work to unlock the achievement it should unlock as soon as you log on.

i just started playing squad rush.. new best mode... a lot of the bs is out.

i hardly go back into conquest or normal rush now.

IF you can get in with a solid squad, Squad Rush is great. If not, then it is just 4 guys pounding the your team all night and that is never fun. If I could get a freaking headset to work then I would play squad rush more, that gametype with solid coms between the players... domination, all night long.

New Battlefield Blog post: Playstation 3 server and client update Imminent. (Patch 1.03)

On Thursday 3rd June the PlayStation 3 Bad Company 2 servers will go down for maintenance. On your side of things at around 08:00 UTC (09:00 UK, 10:00 Europe, 02:00 Pacific) you will start to see prompts to update your PS3 when you next put Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in your disc drive.

The update includes the following changes:
  • Kit images added in spawn menu
  • Fixed the "required rank" field on the unlock items specified on the W&G page
  • Added M14, NS 2000 and G3 in-game unlock pop-up when the requirements for unlocking them are reached
  • Added a server side check of the veteran status of the players
  • Award bugfix for "Win all 4 game modes" (it had marksman headshot as a dependency)
  • Garand did not track anything, Thompson tracked Garand.
  • Increased the penalty points for TeamKill and TeamDamage
  • Increased the reward points for Objective Actions (Flag Cap/Assist, Arm/Disarm/Destroy/Damage/TeamDestroy/TeamDamage)
  • Fixed veteran rank number not showing up in ingame scoreboard
  • The southpaw setting now works for the anti-air gun and the Stationary AT
  • Collectible weapon messages fixed
Now you can go out and get your Garand stats you have all been waiting for.

This update will go out on PS3 in all regions except Japan which will follow shortly. Xbox 360 update is also in the works and is due in the very near future.

The PS3 Patch rolled out.

The patch also included fixes for points after death, and changed the layout on some maps.

You now get 150 points for a flag capture and 75 for a flag capture assist in Conquest.
You now get 50 points for a plant or defuse and 250 for an objective destoy in Rush

Map Changes:
  • There are now 2 ATVs on Arica Harbour in Conquest mode
  • The UAV on Atacoma Desert was moved. It's now on the top level of the ship, you have to climb the stairs to get to it. It is also covered with a sheet of metal for anti-snipe.

The Conquest horn is fixed! It now honks twice at 30 tickets

For the PS3 version of BFBC2:

Yesterday a 1.03 ~300MB patch went out with a couple of days notice.
Today a new update 1.04 patch, ~451MB shows up totally unannounced.

People have it downloaded and installed and there are still no announcements from DICE about it. I'm, reading the servers are currently down.

Sounds to me like someone made a boo-boo.

Looks like the patch includes support for Onslaught mode. Source.

After I downloaded it, I found new Trophies. All include Onslaught in the name of the Trophies and there is bronze and silver trophy per map.

New Battlefield Blog posting: Battlefield Bad Company 2 Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 Updates

Last week saw the release of Battlefield Bad Company 2 version 1.03 on the PlayStation 3 worldwide, which you can read about here. An additional update went out in North America to bring the game up to version 1.04. That update will be available in Japan today (June 7th) and in Europe tomorrow (June 8th). Additionally game servers will be updated in each region as the update goes out to everyone.

The following changes are in the 1.04 update of Battlefield Bad Company 2.

o Vehicles can now be damaged by friendly fire when playing Hardcore.
o The MG36 now properly has its red dot sight in Hardcore.
o Damaged vehicles no longer blink on the minimap for soldiers without a powertool.
o SPECACT kits can be used on all SDM and SR levels.
o 40mm Shotgun is now properly rewarded platinum at 500 kills not 1000.
o G3 and Mk14 can now use the AR Marksman specialization.
o Fixed a graphical issue when equipping the GOL with a 4x or Red Dot sight.
o Scoring is now awarded after a player’s death.
o Increased Tickets in Conquest mode and significantly increased Ticket Bleed when holding a majority or more of flags.
o The Conquest Horn now only plays for a short time when running low on Tickets.
o Updated the weapon stats in the Menu to reflect previous weapon balance changes (no additional weapon balance changes were made).
o Increased the power of the UH-60 miniguns at long range.
o Armored Vehicles are now more effective at running over soldiers.
o Fixed an issue on Isla Inocentes where destroying a fence would also destroy the building containing an MCom.
o Fixed various hangs and exploits.

An optional content update for the Xbox 360 will also be available tomorrow (8th June). Though it is optional the update contains numerous gameplay tweaks. As such we highly recommend all players apply the update as soon as it is available. The update will be required to access future VIP Map Pack content. Players will be automatically prompted to download this update when they access the Multiplayer menu. You will need to restart Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for the update to take effect.

A VIP pass is not needed to utilise the update, however a VIP pass is required for access to the upcoming VIP Map Packs. VIP Codes are available through the in game store and inside all new copies of Battlefield Bad Company 2.
