I'm starting to think that having either 1 or 2 snipers to a team is the "right amount".

Last night we were playing the Rush map where you advance from island to island as the attacking team. We had like 5 or 6 snipers, and it was SO pointless. They would occasionally get kills, but they are all the way on the other island so it's not like they are actually pushing at all. A single sniper would have been able to pick off guys on turrets, etc, leaving the rest of the team for objective completion.

Grr

+1, I played on an assault team yesterday with 8 snipers, it was utterly pointless. I quit shortly after, we couldn't take the first freaking set of M-Com's on the island map.

The most important thing the Recon class can do, as the name suggests, is obtaining information about the enemy from safe distances - primarily through tagging them. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that tagging an enemy is often more useful than simply shooting them. - particularly when the Recon is also acting as a valuable spawn point for squad mates and doesn't want to give up their location.

If you're assaulting and you know the exact location of every defending enemy, you are far more effective and that in turn brings up everyone else.

This shouldn't be just for Recon, I ALWAYS try to tag people no matter what class I use. I actually played a game the other day (night-time snow assault map) where all I did the entire map was jump on the UAV and tag/shoot at people. We rolled over the defense as there were VERY few surprise encounters on our team.

It doesn't take much effort to aim towards someome and hit back, and if you don't get the kill you get 20 spot assist points. Win-win.

If a red indicator appears over the guy's head when you press Select, then the tag was successful. Usually your soldier will call something out verbally, too.

I read somewhere that there's a "cool-down" for tagging just like there is for weapons. This is to avoid people just mashing the "Spot" function. You can press the tag button once every 2 seconds without it "overheating". If you do it more than that, it "overheats" and needs 5 seconds to reset.

That is correct, there is a cooldown involved. I wasn't sure why it wouldn't let me tag after doing it alot, then after a few seconds it let me do so again.

There'll be a red mark over anything you tag, whether it be infantry or vehicle. Tagging UAVs = key (as they can be tough to see, MUCH easier with a red triangle over 'em).

do you have be scoped or just a normal view works?
is there a distance to tagging? like he has to be center on your screen? or does anywhere on the screen work?

I"m not sure about where on the screen they need to be, but you don't have to be scoped. Just press the back button.

You can unlock the spotting attachment for the sniper rifles though that automatically spots any targets that are within your scope without pressing back.

Your crosshair does need to be on the guy, or very close at least. Doing it when zoomed is easier but not required I think.

Not required but immensely easier. They need to legitimately be in the your cross hairs or it won't do it for the most part.

So, I've never put much time in the Medic class, although I know how key they are. Last night we were doing the night snow map on assault and I decided to give medic a whirl (I had previously unlocked the defribulator)...I think I had 14+ revives on that one game. It was fantastic. We steamrolled the other team on assault and they didn't get past the second set of M-Coms on defense.

Only thing that I don't like is that the iron sights on pretty much all of the LMGs suck pretty bad. Until I get the M60 (long way off) I'll stick with the T88 I guess...I haven't really been great with any of the LMGs yet. Assault Rifles are still my best weapon.

I've no clue how I'm going to unlock Recon class stuff, I am awful at sniping...I picked up a dead guy's .50 sniper and in probably 20+ shots I had 1 kill...I hit a bunch of people but never took 'em down.

Medic is fun to play. There's always something to do and you get to be the 'hero' a lot. You also rack up points like nobody's business.

I unlocked the M60 two days ago, and I have to say I'm not sure what the big deal is. I think in CQB it has an edge, but honestly not enough of one that I'd ever think twice about it. It looks like a beast on paper. In game it's marginally better.

Recon is actually my favorite class to play, but I usually only play it in HC. There it's only 1 shot to kill. Then when I unlock the magnum ammo, I'll start using it in regular mode.

Early on with recon, just tag, don't shoot. You won't rack up kills, but you'll get a ton of spot assists and if you remain hidden you'll give your squad a good respawn point.

Yeah, I've done that a few times but does tagging add to your class score or just your overall score? I assumed it was overall since you can tag with every class.

Man, I'll tell you one thing that is starting to grate on my nerves like a lemon-coated cheese grater grating across my grated knuckles: fighting with the !@#$ing terrain. I am so sick of getting stuck on train. The worst is when you're going up a really slight incline and all of a sudden your soldier starts hitching and jerking like you're having a seizure, for no apparent reason. It's seriously annoying and rips you right out of the experience.

I wish the DICE folks would take an intro to programming course.

That is annoying, a time or two I've been stuck and unable to move. More annoying to me are all the connection issues though. I dropped 3 times from games last night.

One of them was really bad...I dropped and went to check my stats and it said I was lvl 0 with no weapon unlocks, I then joined a game and sure enough...I was lvl 0 with no weapon unlocks. I flipped and quit to my dashboard. Rejoined and thankfully all was back to normal but I was worried.

Still a good bit of fun, I unlocked the M60 last night and the red dot for the LMGs and SMGs.

I got the armor "perk" last night, too. Man does that make a WORLD of difference! I was in a squad of all medics (myself included) and we were unstoppable. We actually stuck together for about 2 hours and dominated every single game. I had a 25,000 pt round!

When you find a good squad, it is SO much more fun.

Yeah, having a good squad makes a world of difference. I've been playing alot with my buds from AVS, typically we win around 80% of the games we play in when we play as a group. Had my best round ever when I choose enginner and hopped in as the gunner for a tank driver, ended up 25-2. I didn't get out of the tank until we'd blown up the second set of M-Coms, and that was only to repair (unfortunately I didn't see that sniper oh so far off who trimmed my hair about 6 inches). But it was ridiculous, we absolutely steamrolled them, when we destroyed the final 2 M-Coms we still had 65 reinforcements left.

I've tried both the armor and the magnum rounds, honestly I can't tell the difference when using either. By the numbers for most guns the armor should be better but I didn't seem to survive any more than I typically did.

Well I'm going to start working on the Assault class. I've unlocked all of the Recon equipment and most of the Medic equipment. I'm getting bored of playing Recon and Medic is getting to be a little routine, too. The points you can rack up as medic are just unbelievable, but it's getting a little repetitive.

I've almost got the Red Dot unlocked. I really want to get the M416. Looks like a sweet gun. The AN94 seems pretty badass, too.

Assault was the class I used most, I unlocked everything. They aren't as useful as the other classes overall (no resurrection, no repair, no mortars) but they are probably the best at medium range combat. Being able to resupply is nice but typically I don't live long enough to run out of ammo.

M416 is probably my favorite assault weapon. XM8 has almost identical stats though and you unlock ti early on.

Honestly I'm not sure how the ranges work because I've killed people from VERY far away with engineer weapons with a small amount of shots. Maybe they were missing some health before I shot 'em but I doubt it.

That said it seems that if you and say, an assault or medic start shooting at each other at the same time they tend to win about 80%+ of the time.

I'm about to unlock the SMG after the AK-74U (not sure what it is). None of 'em really suit my play style but I suppose they're alright.

Sometime try picking your weakest class (Recon for me) and put a Saiga + magnum rounds and slugs. 2 shot semi-auto kill with it.
