I haven't read the comics, but in the animated series, Ra's daughter is named Talia and she is most certainly not an assistant DA in Gotham. I don't know how the comics explained it though.

By the way: If anyone's interested in the animated series I have all the episodes. PM me if you're interested.

I didn't realize until the other day that Billy Dee Williams character in the original Batman was the same one that Tommy Lee Jones played in Batman Forever. I guess the transformation into Two-face made him white?

I did like this movie a lot.

However, after thinking for a bit, I realized that the electromagnetic cool thing would've vaporized all the water in the skin and blood instantly. Umm. Oh well, we can ignore the technicalities.

are the vicious rumours true?

What do you mean by GLARING? This movie has nothing to do with the previous movies so that might explain why some people would think there are continuity issues. This movie follows the comics more closely while the old ones were kind of built on their own mythology.

Watanabe was Ra's only at the beginning of the movie. Later on in the movie you learn that Liam Neeson is really Ra's Al Ghul.

I've been reading this thread for the past hour and a few of my questions aren't solved.

Who is scarecrow?
The skinny kid with the cool mask?
For some reason i placed him as the joker.

If he ins't the joker, who in the movie was?

P.S.
Yes that microwave emitter would of made every living thing go poof. Pissed me off too.

Jesus H. Christ...

Are you people seriously that dense that you can't follow the plot of an action movie?

Scarecrow was Dr. Crane, "the skinny kid with the cool mask." The Joker isn't actually in the movie, only alluded to, at the end.

Ras Al Ghul was Liam Neeson. He made it appear that Ken Watnabe was Ras.

I've actually got a couple of theories on that. The first one is that Liam Neeson was actually Ra's Al Ghul the whole time.

The other one I've got is that Watanabe was actually Ras at first, but after what happened in the temple, he was able to do a mind/body/soul transfer to Neeson's body through the Lazarus Pit (or something akin to this).

Nah, I think Liam Neeson was Ra's Al Ghul the whole time. I noticed at the beginning that they never referred to Ken Wantanabe as Ra's Al Ghul. When Bruce Wayne asked if he was Ra's Al Ghul, he didn't respond.

I feel a lot of the complaints are ungrounded.

This film is not a prequel. It does not have anything to do with any Batman film before it. The four films before it are unrelated.

The Joker did not kill Wayne's parents in the comic book. Burton dreamed up that idea. Joe Chill was responsible for Wayne's parents murder and it went down nearly exactly as it was descibed over sixty years ago.

Obviously, Batman is in the infancy of his career. Both the Batmobile and the Batcave will evolve as he grows. Having a ready-made Batmobile with Bat-wing fins a la Tim Burton would have been too unrealistic. I think the "Tumbler" was perfect.

The "close-up, blurry" fight scenes make sense. One, they're more intense, and two, watching Batman neatly take down a group of thugs while being treated to a full and steady shot of his costume takes some of the mystique away. I'm pretty sure the filmmakers tried filming the fight scenes neatly but realized that it looked akward.

The acting was perfect; Bale was without doubt the most convincing Wayne/Batman. The visuals were perfect too; there wasn't too much CG (thank God). The only gripe I have is that there wasn't a better musical score. I realize that the music can become a character in the film (like Elfman's '89 score) and the filmmakers probably wanted to avoid the epic, but a decent theme would have been nice.

Overall, this movie was for the fans. It isn't as accessible as, say, Spider-Man, but I'm glad they made a Batman film for the fans and not necessarily just for the masses.

I honestly think it was the best movie I've ever seen.

Dude..I pretty much agree with everything you have said there..for the most part.

Yea, you took the words right out of my mouth....well, except for the last line.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but this jsut in (I think):

" British actor Paul Bettany has joined the race to play Batman's nemesis The Joker in a planned sequel to Batman Begins. Director Christopher Nolan left no doubt The Joker would feature heavily in the next Batman installment when the villain, formerly played by Jack Nicholson, left a calling card in the final scene of the box office smash hit. And now Batman fansites are desperately trying to make sure producers pick the right man for the job. Crispin Glover was an early favorite, along with Star Wars' Mark Hamill, who provides the voice of The Joker in the Batman animated series and Aussie actor Lachy Hulme, and now Bettany has got the fans' vote. An insider tells website Batman-on-film.Com that the A Beautiful Mind star is officially in the running to play the evil character."

...take it with a grain of salt though. But personally, I think Bettany would be great for the role!
