I get 'patching failed', after which it tells me it's successfully installed patch 1.01 -_-. It does not update the version number to the correct one. Tried 2 DL sources, same deal. I can't believe I paid for this bloody game, haven't been able to play at all since 1.01 came out due to awful stuttering...

Weasel, that's an issue that came up with the 1.01 patch. Here's a workaround.

Double click the patch installer
Choose your language,
wait for welcome screen
do NOT hit continue.
Go to Documents & Settings\YourNameHere\local settings\temp (tools --> folder options --> View --> Show hidden files & folders if you can't see it)
Look for a folder than looks like {adsf9080asfd098gfd098adfg}
Open it
Copy everything in that folder.
Make a new folder on your C: (i.e. "C:\blah")
Paste all the stuff from the {bak8a7sdf9879ghf} folder in there
Open the command prompt (start --> run --> cmd)
type C:
type cd blah (or whatever you named it)
Type patch.exe "C:\Program Files\EA\Battlefield 2" (or whereever you installed it)

Don't worry about the numbers. If you've downloaded the new patch then you should be updated to the right version. There's a note about this from EA.

Could this be why my 40pt game (plus the win, so 80) from before wasn't added to my BFHQ score?

edit: For clarification: I haven't updated yet. But I saw someone on a server asking if his scores would save even though he didn't patch yet. So I'm wondering if that's what's happening to me as well.

does the battlefield TV thing work yet? theres been numerous times ive had close escapes with mid air collisions etc, it would be cool to see them in replay....or is it only for the server version or something?

The servers actually record all the data for the entire match, youd have to get on a server with the recorder enabled (it devastates server performance when theres a lot of players) and get the file from the admin of the server.

found a problem, with mine anyway

i can only view servers once, ie....when i load the game and click multiplayer it loads up a list of servers, now if i

*press refresh
*update list
*apply filters

or anything thats gonna change the list

all the servers disappear and no new ones, or filtered ones show up, just a blank list. i waited 5 mins for servers to appear but its no go, you have to restart the game, so now i better find a good server and stick with it..sucks

I've found this same problem, but here's how I fix it. It seems there is a bug that sometimes when you choose a new filter, then refresh or update the server list, nothing shows up. First up, make sure you apply the filter first. If that doesn't work, choose the filters you want, then simply restart the game. The server browser will work with the filters you choose previously, and should work until you start changing filters and the bug strikes again.

uncheck punkbuster and no password and the servers 'should' come up fine.

40 points while in caps lock mode. Not 40 points after it's be doubled for the score screen.

It's supported. Though it doesn't explicitely state on the package(though I hear it states support on the German packaging for 6600GT AGP) , it'll work fine(other than normal BF2 bugs).

Well it seems like 1.01 to me. I guess ill beleave the memory leak was fixed. Browser works better but pings are still wrong (X3 seemes to work) still dosnt filter full games, Wont sort by pings for snit. Mores the pity as I wish I could dislike it more. But the game play is the best that i have ever experienced.

"error ept0034: Neither command line parameter specified is an existing directory"

BF2 is at U:\Games\Battlefield 2

Okay, you need about 2GB of free space on the BF2 drive to install the patch. :disgust: :roll:

Do you have the full version and not the demo?

I upgraded to 1.02 from 1.01 and everything seems fine. I'm getting less lag feel in servers and the server list isn't near as sluggish. Now if they could only make the Esc menu come up instantly like every other game...

That's the normal installation directory. Dunno why it's giving you that error though.

OK, something really strange is going on with my copy of BF2. As I said above, the patch can't find the game directory for some reason. Now I'm finding that I can't uninstall the game, either with the uninstall utility or with the Add/Remove program control panel. Nothing happens. I get the "which language do you want" window, then after that I see a window flash on the screen for a split second, then absolutely nothing. So I can't install the patch, I can't remove the game from my computer. BUT, the game RUNS just fine. What is going on here? Why would the uninstall not work? I have never seen this happen with any game before.
