ati appears to be having worse issues.

anyway, my 6800gt runs great on it but i did use the bundled drivers so i don't know how much a difference that makes.

truly is going to be a sweet game. aside from the KB controls but i guess i'll adapt.

Install was buggy for me. Game would say "installation complete" but it wouldn't be there (no directory or anything).

Fixed it by doing "custom install."

Abotu to go try the game. I have:

AMD 64 3400+
1gb RAM
Radeon 9800 XT 256mb

Ok I have a 6800GT and a 3500AMD64 and my ran smoothly. The onlything that seemed to lag at all was the server menu...very slow to scroll..

Here are my issues so far..

A. TOTAL CHOAS on the servers...but tahts to be expected
B. Very steep learning curve it seems for a arcade FPS> Flying the helicopters is freaking hard!
C. Sniping sucks. Either you cant or I havent figured it out yet but you can only zoom in once. And when you see someone and click on their nice little head..they dont die. THEY SHOULD. ITS A SNIPER!
D. Why am i listing with letters?
E. No commanders

projectile motion....the bullets drop over distance due to gravity. thats what the horizontal lines are for on the scope...there should be lines that go from the center to the bottom, the further away your target the further down them lines u most go to aim

It ran fine for me with an x800 and cat5.5, although the game did finally crash after about 2 hours of playing. I thought the weapons looked great and the player animations were good.

But it's just a new and improved Desert Combat if you ask me...and you still can't lean left or right or swim underwater....and no binoculars (I guess the sniper has 'em). And I never liked how the Battlefield series puts the enemy's name above their head like a big neon sign "Hey, shoot over here". I'll stick with Joint Operations.

Not having fun with this game. geforce 6800, 512 mb ddr pc2700 ram, amd 2500. lag city on medium settings. jesus...even with all background programs off, did virus/adware/spyware checks, and defragged. I hate pc gaming. can anyone tell me if any (free) ways of getting this game to stop being so stupid with my ram? hell, if I quit the game, it still stays in memory. 200 megs of bf2.exe just sitting there in my processes. I have to hard-kill it.

Here's my review... EA is still a bunch of douchebags. Don't try playing the game with anything other than a 60 Hz refresh rate...

ATI OWNERS

Update: In testing the demo, EA has encountered some visual issues on certain ATI cards with the previous Catalyst drivers (5.5) and are working with yesterday's 5.6 release to discover if the issue is resolved. If in playing the Battlefield 2 demo you encounter texture corruption of any kind, we recommend rolling back to the Catalyst 5.1 drivers. ATI is aware of this issue and is working to resolve it.

5.1 Omegas

I am using a X800XL and these have solved the problem for me!

Other than that I hope the retail game is NOTHING like this... This game is a massive resource hog....

With my screen set at 1024x768 @ 85 Hz the game won't load... I have to set it to 60 Hz, then the game will load and let me chose from some really fvcked up resolutions... 800x600 @ 60 Hz, 1152x864 @ 75 Hz... and I think 1280x960 @ 60 Hz, which is a fine resolution, but why limit the refresh rates? That's retarded.

well finally got it. from multiplay.co.uk....was pulling a 1meg a sec!!!!

got all details on high, turned off the shadows since they just spaz out everywhere, 2xAA 8xAF, runs very sweet. its only taking up 400-500 mb of memory, and i never run many processes in the back ground so ive still got a good chunk of my gig left to spare.

lot of the servers are very laggy initially but then its fine. the only problem is. i can either play 10x7 or 12x9 non of which is my monitors native res (12x10) i find 10x7 to be the best though, 12x9 looks wierd, like its stretched. of course running 10x7 kinda makes AA useless since the panel has to interpolate and stretch 10x7 over a 12x10 screen.

game play is awesome though, i love blowing up bridges and shootin people in the tank. and i have to say flying, while not the best, is actually fairly decent with key board and mouse. cant wait to try a 64 player map!

im using the XG 76.45 HD drivers from Tweaks R us ..... no amount of driver bundlage will make me change from XG drivers

Even the key assignments are buggy?! This is why I hate it when people pre-order stuff. It basically says to the publisher, "hey, release it in any state and I'll still buy it!". We as gamers need to expect a whole lot more from publishers. I'm very disappointed in the current state of this game and will probably wait until it is in the $20 bargain bin and finished via patches about a year from now.

Edit: Oh, and as an ATI X850 owner, I do seriously need 28.5MB + 6.23MB of extra demo to provide me with the latest nVidia drivers and GameSpy Arcade. For the love of God EA! Please don't include these on the actual game disc, as they will only make my Alcohol images take up more space. At least this demo doesn't use Starforce copy protection (I wouldn't ever buy it if it did).

That's the way EA does business. Aside from that... I'm not very impressed by the game... It's Desert Combat with slightly better graphics. Seriously. Of course there's a few new features, but I really don't see anything impressive here. The people still look extremely awkward when they move... not even in the same league as HL2/CS:S... or even Far Cry for that matter.

I'll take some screenshots...

That is certainly the way EA has been doing business for the last few years. We're sure to see overpriced, useless expansions and any great mods (thinking of DC here) bought up and made into a new product (and then see the original mod creators get fired once the buggy mess of what used to be good, gets released for a public beta).

Edit: Thinking that I still haven't finished Doom 3 yet, so there's plenty of time to wait for this game to get patched.

The sounds seem like the best part so far. The animations are pretty weak. The learning curve is kinda high. Command mode is included in the demo i just havn't figured it out yet

Doom III has to be one of most stable games I've ever played, thats quality. Any machine in the world can run that game and you can still actually play it! I never had a single crash or any bugs found through the entire game. Not a single one.

I enjoyed Desert Combat more than this current demo, it keeps booting me for a Win32 error. Anyone know how to fix this?

I was playing on the resolution right before 1280x960, but when I goto 1280x960 it sretches ALL across my Dell 2005FP (1680x1050) anyone know a solution to this? All of the other resolution are boxed in my monitor with enough black boarders.

a tank

run over by a tank

tank kicking up dust

Stills look great... actually playing is another story...

*EDIT* Details all maxed... 4XAA and 8XAF and trilinear filtering forced in the drivers with optimizations turned off on my 6800GT. The frame rates you see in the screens aren't accurate... they're normally up in the 50's, but taking a screen shot with fraps makes it drop.

You need way more memory. 1GB is minimum, 2GB is best.

i played it a little last night, i am glad that most of the commands are the same as bf1942/DC, that makes it easy for me as far as kb control goes. played at 1024x768 w/ medium setting but have not tried any others. played smooth, but jaggies.

first impression - kind of a mix between DC/DCX/CS, i like all of those games but this is kind of what i thought it would be, basically a mod for bf:v.

have not played onlie yet as i am still helping the community out via bittorrent and have upped ~2GB since last night.
