Definately need more memory... I'm guessing faster memory and a faster processor would help quite a bit too.

My PCIE 6600GT works fine, my housemate has an AGP 6600GT and gets kicked to desktop. Wonder if it has to do with that.

AdamSnow, Cobalt... set your fresh rate to 60 Hz before you start the game. Guarantee it'll work then.

Just tried to play some...

Not only did it take 5 minutes to log in under my account, the game locked up on the multi-player/server select screen. Forced me to reboot. Just great!

The game lets me use 1600x1200 just fine using Cat 5.5's. I have had no lock ups or issues like that. Shadows do look god awful, but thats really about it. My only problem is lack of widescreen support and even editing the files that would normally change this sends you back to the desktop if you choose such a resolution.

Man... too bad I won't be wasting my money on this since my computer doesn't seem to have any issues with it aside from the retarded refresh rates EA forces you to use.

Well it IS a demo... it's not a full featured release.

Well, I give up! The game just locks up on the server selection menu. As soon as I hit refresh...BAM! Hard lock.

Worked fine last night...

BF2 looks like it's going to be a bada$$ game. It kicks the crap out of my 5900 though. Looks like I have an excuse for a new vid card.

Sorry, didn't mean to single you out specifically... just the last complaint I saw about something that obviously won't be an issue in the full game.

You sure it's not defaulting to another refresh rate when you start the game?

Okay, time for my critique -

pros:
awesome graphics
plays a lot smoother on my system than BF:V
bots are actually pretty good - I enjoyed playing them
controls work well
interaction is fun

cons:
just like the previous BF games, I feel like I'm playing in cartoon land.
still feels like I'm shooting through people when I hit them
no widescreen support (and there isn't going to be any in the final game because EA's doctrine considers this "cheating")

Overall, a not bad game. Once I can get on multiplayer without the game locking up, I can have the full experience. So far though, I'll probably pick up this game when it's like $35.

Yeah me too, and I got that shadow bug too, but the driver update fixed it.
