AdamSnow, Cobalt... set your fresh rate to 60 Hz before you start the game. Guarantee it'll work then.

My housemate tried that fix - no luck.

You sure it's not defaulting to another refresh rate when you start the game?

How would you check?

Does your monitor have an on screen display that shows the resolution/refresh rate? If not, you can use Reforceto force refresh rates. Powerstrip will do it too I think.

It's not mine, it's my housemates, but I'll check and see if it does when I get back from work. His is a pretty old CRT from some brand I've never heard of, so bets are off.

Hey guys for those of you wanting to get widescreen working here is how you do it.
right click onthe BF2 icon and go into proporties and have it look similar to this

"D:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

obviously just put in the resolution you want to run.

+fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050 for WSXGA+

or

+fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 800 for WXGA

here is the thread

Give credit to the folks on the widescreen gaming forums for this find.

heres how to fix the FOV for widescreen aspect ratio. In the menu's its a little streched but in game its fixed.

So go into your Battlefield 2 Demo\mods\bf2\Settings\' directory and edit the 'VideoDefault.con'. Look for the line that reads 'renderer.fieldOfView 1' and change it to 'renderer.fieldOfView 1.1'

That's because special Forcewear drivers were released with the demo so that it would work. They're for Windows 2000/XP only... not x64. x64 is based on the Windows 2003 kernel.

Plays alot like the original Bf1942, which is a very good thing. Nothing but good things to say, never run into any problems.

the interface though could be faster, expecialy the damn server list, its sooo slow to lets say order by ping, or players on the servers.

Dunno, besides the purdy graphics, this game plays exactly the same as DC.

Its kinda buggy. Had to disable shadows on my 6600GT cause they were all screwy.

It didn't even work on my 6600GT.

Ditto... kicked to desktop

My 6600GT works fine - question: are you guys on PCIe or AGP?

My PCIE 6600GT works fine, my housemate has an AGP 6600GT and gets kicked to desktop. Wonder if it has to do with that.

Im on PCIE

I've got a 6600GT AGP and it works fine. It worked with 76.46 (shadow error) and it works with 77.30 (no shadow error).

Just played the demo and man does it load slow. Also I think the explosions from the grenades and stuff are very weak. I get more dirt thrown up from a firecracker.

I think I will wait for the first patch or 2 to be released before I buy unless the fullversion is different. Oh and I dislike the crosshairs but the looking down the barrel view is cool.

Exactly... so basically what I'm telling you is that you're SOL until nVidia makes a driver for x64 with the fixes needed for BF2.

Everything loads up fine for me. BF2 is actually more of the same with extra eye-candiness and more options. It does look very good and plays quite well, but I don't think I'll be getting this game. =P

Only thing that I didn't like is that even with my ATI Radeon X800XT PE, it lags a fair bit with all settings to high, resolution at 1600x1200 @ 85Hz, AA at 4x and sound quality high. I suppose the next generation GPUs will solve this problem easily.
