Quick note on the laptop. As far as I can see the ze2308wm does not nor has it ever existed as far as HP is concerned. However HP did create a ze2008wm which is a 1.3 Ghz pentium Cel M.

If anyone has a better lead on the the laptop please let me know.

Assuming that the ad or OP didn't just mistype the model number, it wouldn't surprise me to find that it's basically the same laptop. Manufacturers will sometimes create reseller-specific model numbers for things like washing machines et al so that consumers can't buy them (or match them) at other dealers. Note that most price-match policies state that you have to match the same model number, not same feature sets.

Last year I got a couple of good deals that were avaliable online just by staying up till past mid-night and placing the order then. A lot of the crazy deals are only avaliable in stores, but last year there was nothing that I wanted to wait in line for so I just stayed home and shopped in my underwear.

Will there be any Black Friday websites this year?

[Edit] W00t! Whaddya know? I passed the 1000 mark and didn't even notice until just now (post 1007). That makes this forum the one I've spend the most time in ever.

lol, I saw this thread and was like "ALREADY??????" But I guess it's less than a month away, and Boston did see a few inches of snow today. This is going to be a rough winter.

About the ze2308wm laptop. Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City etc. all sell an off the shelf model similar to this. HP gives its own sub-model number to each (wm for WalMart) and will support it. It is most likely a stripped version of the v2000 with 256RAM and no WiFi or Bluetooth.

Latop specs

Here are the specs for the laptop. 256MB Ram is weak but the price is right. I would like to see a pic of it to make sure its not ugly as sin, but I will prob get one.

Does anyone else find it funny that you are asking for a reference at Gottadeal in a post started by RossMAN.

As for bfads.net I love how they tried to plaster their name over the gottadeal name but failed.

Props to RossMAN

Hooray for having to work retail on BF. Hope I don't die. But if there are any of those laptops left, I'm definitely going to get one.

ze2308wm laptop specs:

http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopp...s/hp_pavilion&storeName=computer_store

Assume the base feature for all variables. I have a similar Compaq v2000z with an AMD Turion and 768RAM that's not too bad ($484.99AR). I hope for you guys that the sale lappy has WiFi, but plan on getting a card and an additional 512 of RAM since the ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M chip set takes 32mb to 128mb of system RAM for video. According to HP tech support the AMD Sempron CPU is in a socket and not soddered so you can upgrade to a Turion when the prices drop. I prefer my 14" wide briteview screen over the standard 15" on this one, however at 6.4 pounds it should be ideal as a student notebook. Good hunting.
