I am looking at a copy of the ad. The answer to this is bittersweet. This laptop is on sale advertised at 299.99. However, that is after a $250 rebated gift card for 1 year of AOL membership. Unless you are willing to be saddled with AOL, the actual price is more like $550.

Any way to get out of the AOL contract?

Go to the web site. Office Depot sent out lawyer letters to those publicizing their ads but I believe they posted them on their site today. I think they sent an email about it.
