I don't know why McCarver is going on about Sheffield being out. The runner on first was forced and is out of the play, it doesn't matter where Sheffield is in relation to him. Should have been a triple play though!!!!!

On tv though it did look to me like Lofton trapped it (until the replay of course). The 2nd base umpire had a much better view and should have made that call.

Calls in NLB stand. An ump can't reverse a call.

It took a slow-mo replay with 2 separate angles for even the freakin TV commentators to figure out what happened, and even then they still didn't know if they were correct. You expect the umpires to just sorta watch the play, snap their fingers and say, oh well Sheffield OBIOUSLY passed Giles 1/2 a second before the throw to second forced him out... my god, umpires are human, they only have two eyes, they don't just magically somehow get the best view and make perfect calls everytime.
