actually... if this is AMD's pentium 4.... then their next chip with be AMD's c2d! so logic dictates that AMD's next cpu will be super awesome! I'M A GENIUS!

Given what I do with my system, there is still no compelling reason to give up my 955BE @ 3.8.

If I get the upgrade bug before Christmas, it looks like it will be a 2500k for me.

All I have to say is this...

If you want AMD to pull through and (hopefully) build better processors and compete with Intel, then you have to support them and purchase their CPUs even if they are are not the cat's meow next to Intel. AMD needs CASH MONEY to get BETTER Engineers for better R&D. Period. If everyone runs to Intel because they can't get the same faps per second or gigglehurts than they can with AMD, then Intel will continue to dominate, charge high prices, and only release competitive products when they have to. Does anyone remember the first company to 1GHz? Intel was incrementally upgrading their CPUs by 33MHz if I remember. With new chipsets. And RAM. Because they could. We all have AMD to thank right now for being as competitive as they are. Lets see, AMD market cap 5 billion, Intel 150 Billion. Who has more money for engineers? At least AMD is trying to stay relevant, and on a shoestring budget. Most engineers are probably like baseball players are go to where the bling is. So, if anything, buy AMD for charity to give them some cash so they can keep Intel on their toes and prices down.

No thanks. I don't buy crap. If AMD gives me a great CPU to buy, I would definitely snatch it up. Given equal performance, I love to support the smaller guy. AMD just cannot compete right now...

Not worth the upgrade.

Real world performance you really won't actually see much difference.

Too much stress on paper results these days.

I feel i was punked. Literally. I went from 965BE to 1090t, with idea of Bulldozer upgrade in mind. Got a 990fx board. No way i go to bulldozer from my 1090t. Lateral move. Watch the FLOOD of AM3+ boards hit ebay and other classifieds.

The numbers in this table speak louder than words. The performance of Bulldozer microarchitecture has become way lower than that of the previous-generation processors. The simplification of Bulldozer microarchitecture by combining a pair of cores into a single module with shared resources led to a significant (25-40&#37 drop in specific performance compared with the previous-generation AMD microarchitecture. As a result, Bulldozer cores do not just work at half the speed of Sandy Bridge cores. In addition to that the performance of the Bulldozer processor module with two cores is even lower than that of a single Sandy Bridge core with enabled Hyper-Threading technology.

Wow thats even worse that was stated by other reviews.!!!! This is devastating it may be apocalyptic as far as AMD as a cpu company is concerned. Im sorry to say but this cpu is officially junk. I dont know if its possible but they should cut their losses NOW!!!!

I already did the same... went 990FX in anticipation.

Thought about going to a 2500k Today.... but REALLY when I thought smart... Its not worth it.

at 1080p gaming, my CPU Now, a 1035T overclocked, runs everything I want nicely at Max settings. For majority of games at 1080p or higher, CPU's do not get fully utizilized anyways.

If your a gamer, I don't see the point of selling a AM3+ setup to go 2500k if you already have it. New builds yes.

I think I am probably going to pick up a FX 4100 (depending on O/C potential once reviewed) or a Phenom II 980 X4 and sell the 1035T. I'd like the multi to be unlocked and higher clock speed. I was waiting on the 8 Cores FX.... but they are not worth the money right now.

Not Impressive. BD Fail

I agree. I'm about to upgrade my CPU as I want a higher clock speed and an unlocked multi. I was going to buy a 8150 but after today its not going to happen at the price they want.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up a X4 980 for now. It will play BF3 and other games great until Piledriver comes out. Will re-evaluate then.

Hey if Anyone sees a review for a FX 4100/FX6100 can you let me know. Im slowly working through each review, haven't seen anything on those yet.

The 8120/8150's are definitely not worth my money for a new CPU for my AM3+ board right now.

How do they expect retailers to sell these chips now???? I think Frys could get away with bringing back their cpu/motherboard combos but what about the rest??

no idea. Here pricing at the shop i usually buy in local currency:

i7 2600k: 309
FX-8150: 269
FX-8120: 229
i5 2500K: 219
FX-6100: 199
X6 1090T: 180

Note that all FX are available earliest mid-November..

i predict 0 Units sold with that pricing...

Retailers who havent already purchased large quanites wont. Why would you buy an new AM3+ board at this point? Amd is in serious trouble. With the intel i3 series chomping at heels of low end Amd and outperforming. What's next for Amd?

I still believe the FX4xxx at $115 is the best performance/price when OCed for gamers and every day desktop jobs

There is no way an FX-4xxx at $115 can compete with a Phenom II X4 955 for $119. Not only that but for gaming an X4 955 loses to an i3.

You know when people playing games, they raise the resolution the higher they can and enable some filters too.

But i guess you play games with Intel 3000 at 800x600 no AA/AF

1680x1050 High Quality. Starcraft 2 performance is a joke.
