Went on a pretty good tear this weekend with a little help from Rainy Pickles to get my Block Party achievement. Also got the A class license, 2.5 million in one stunt run, and explorer... now, its onto my Burnout license.

Im really liking this game.. Not too far in, maybe 8-9 races left till my A licence + haven't done anything online yet. I like all of the races except the stunt runs.. I for the life of me cant get a decent run going.

they're not bad, just keep your combo going and do lots of stuff... get good at barrel rolls as they give you a +2 to multiplier... boost when you're pie is almost out, drift sometimes too... that'll keep it going. hit your breaks to control yourself more (just because you hit boost doesnt mean you have to keep going super fast). Break stuff, jump stuff!

finally got all the bilboards last night and decided to finally actually start playing the game and got my B license

the races in this game are INTENSE! i'm talking about the specific "Race" mode in single player.

my initial thoughts of this game are completely gone now and I'm enjoying the crap out of every bit of it.

i have like 6 jumps left and 11 gates i think.

I thought I was behind everyone for sure, but I guess I was wrong. I haven't played this game for a week or two but I got my Burnout license the last time I did. I still need to find all the jumps/billboards/smashes, etc. and one of these days I'll play the game with this goal in mind. I'm about 80 races away from the elite license Q), and only ~55% done with the game. The credits roll when you get your Burnout license, but the game is far from over.

This game is awesome and I'm really enjoying it. The only frustrating thing is when I want to complete a burning route and fail by 1 or 2 seconds and have to drive all the way back to try again. Also, some of the speed cars are completely fragile. If you hit anything going faster than 5 mph you wreck; it can be annoying. I love Road Rages and Marked Man  Showtime can actually be a lot of fun too. There are so many damn vehicles in this game. I like this because there's always something new for me to unlock and I can change up the vehicle I'm using very frequently as I progress through the game.

I am thinking about buying it from gamefly ( currently have it rented), but I have a bad habit of never playing games again once I buy them..

Case in point, Mass Effect, I had grand ideas of finishing different playthoughs, but I haven't touched the game since the case + manual showed up.

The only intersections that have events are those with traffic lights. Also, drive around the interstate and check the toll booths...those count as events also.

I traded in about half a dozen games at the Gamestop ($71, woot!) and took away Burnout Paradise and a 360 Racing Wheel. I mainly bought the wheel for Forza 2, but decided to try it out in Burnout Paradise. The wheel seems to be missing some functionality. Can a player perform the barrel rolls and flat spins with the racing wheel?

The game is fun, but I thought it'd be more detailed than the demo. I was expecting a choice between a manual and auto transmission. I also miss not seeing what speed I'm traveling. No biggie, the game is fun. I haven't gotten online yet. I'm about 2 races away from a C license.

man, after those really good challenge sessions with modeps and company, other sessions seemed to be filled with morons. but then again, maybe i just remember those idiots who have no idea what is going on and screw 7 other people up.

overall this game is a blast. my personal take on the no retry "feature" is that it really doesn't matter. most things i completed in 1-3 tries, with maybe one event taking 5 tries. it is easier than burnout 3 (my favorite).

tips for burning routes: you don't really need to boost the whole way. just drive fast, don't crash, and boost of straight aways and you can do most of the burning routes. it helps a lot if you know the routes, too.

tips for elite license: do the hard events first. do the long marked man and race events first, because the opponents seem to get tougher as you beat the events. for stunt runs, do the ones that are far away from anything useful first, because point requirements go up with every win you get. road rages are not that hard, but i left the ones closest to the freeway till last, because it is easy to get takedowns on the freeway (for me).

Thanks for the link BV, very cool that they're doing this. I hope they've got some DLC coming too
Of course, I'm only at about 120 online challenges.

For stunt runs use a slower stunt car like the R Turbo Roadster, and no matter where you start, make your way to the bridge in lower right of the map, do flat spins off the ramps there and through the middle billboards, then through the damn and that billboard, then up to the gravel pit and flat spin off that. An easy million. Just hit your boost once every 4 sec, and dont worry about the time.

today i learned from some guy a trick that makes the airfield hoop jumping challenges easy. use the vegas. yes, the pink car you get early in the game. i was used to drifting around the corner, boosting, then praying that i would make it. with the vegas, just back up into the wall, hit gas, then boost your way through. super easy.

lol i was just reading my replies on the first page after the demo came out ... it's so funny how my opinion on this game has done a 180.

i have close to 50 hours total into this game and i STILL have a ton to do. I have like 130 challenges to finish online, 92 more events to complete until I get my elite license, and THEN i'll start racing online heh.

speaking of which, if anyone is interested in doing any 7-8 player challenges sometime soon let me know. i know i have soul engineer on my list already and i'll toss him invites when i start doing the 7-8 player ones, but anyone else interested?

I would definitely be interested in doing some challenges. I tried this for the first time a couple weeks ago and ended up being online for a few hours with a complete stranger completing challenges. I thought it was a lot of fun.

You're kidding me. That is the hardest challenge in the game, usually it takes everyone in the group a good half hour to 45 mins to do.

Yes, I should add that I am currently juggling a lot of games, but BP is one of them (at least I'm trying to keep it in the mix).

haha you serious? usually the barrel roll one will take me a lil longer depending on which car, but usually we get it in like 5-10 mins. i've only gotten to the 6 player one.

hmm ... dunno if i wanna do challenges with you afterall.

We tried for about 30 minutes to jump through the hoop and couldn't do it. I was getting close but then he quit and moved on to another challenge. I guess I was using the wrong car, although I tried a couple.

EDIT: By "We" and "he" I mean the random dude I was playing with.

yah car makes a HUGE difference. yesterday i was in the citizen hunter (cop car) and was trying to do a double barrel roll off the dam jump. i tried like 15 times ... i couldn't even BARREL ROLL! like it just would not roll. then i did it and only barrel rollwed once. it wouldnt spin fast enough for 2.

so i went and got in the carbon hawker and the first attempt i got the double barrer roll.

when i do challenges typically i'll start from the last one and work back down to get the harder ones out of the way first.

I'm down as well. I've completed some of the 7-8 party challenges, but the group I was in last broke up because one guy couldn't power park. He was given plenty of time, but just couldn't figure it out (he was real new at the game). I actually felt bad that he couldn't get it and I was trying to coach him, but it just wasn't working.

I'm up for some 8-player challenges. I use one car, it's basically good to do absolutely anything in the game, I've never had any problems getting any challenges done before everyone else.
