I kinda wanted him to compare it to Burnout: Revenge a bit since Paradise was a bit different from the predecessor (in what some see as a negative).

Normal reviewers would do that, and he's not a normal reviewer.

The upcoming Burnout Paradise islands DLC will be free! Link

I think we'll make you work for some of these.

And one more thing, the islands will all be FREE.

alex

Vid of the new car (don't know if this will be free) crossing a bridge to get to the new island.

hah damn that bridge looks like a ton of fun

also i'm wondering if they are going to give you the islands for free so that you can just freeburn around on it, and then make you pay for events or challenges or cars.

so I've got 32 events left to get my elite license, have finished all the burning routes and marked man events, and have 79/80 cars.

if you asked me after i played the demo if i would have ever put over 60 hours into burnout paradise, i would have laughed right in your face.

after i get my elite and also get the last car, i still have like 90 or so online challenges left to get everything in this game completed heh.

Dayum. Two weekends ago I started working hard to get the Elite License, complete Burning Routes, etc., but the Mass Effect DLC pulled me back into that game.

I had little to no trouble with the Burning Routes until I got to the Watson Revenge and Montgomery Hawker. I gave up on the Revenge for the time being but even the Hawker took me a while. I kept losing by 1 second, it was infuriating!

yah some of the later burning routes were tougher (by later I mean the cars you unlock later in the game that are more right in the list).

the last 5-6 or so I had to do more than once, other than the very last one I got my first try.

the thing i learned is that they aren't as much about as using your boost as they are not crashing.

Yeah, I definitely found that to be the case. Before the Revenge or Hawker I'd say you could easily beat the others without using boost as long as you don't crash. I didn't find this to be the case with these cars, though.

yea the hawker honestly was the toughest one I did I think. that one took me quite a few tries to do, and it was annoying cause it was ALL the way accross the map to get the other one.

the revenge one I think I got my first time, and I remember cause I love that car

IIRC, I think my main problem with the Revenge BR is on the last turn I get turned completely around from taking the turn too hard/fast and am subsequently fucked because I don't have enough time to get to the finish. I just need to try again and I bet I can do it.

It also seemed like, despite boosting for the entire time, including up the twisty/turny mountain part, I would barely have enough time to reach the finish. I love a good boost drift, though.

heh i FINALLY got my burnout elite license tonight.

i have logged JUST under 70 hours. i'm only 95% done though. I need to get road rules on like 30 more rules for showtime and then i think i'll be 100% done w/single player.

then i have like 90 challenges left to do online.

this game is SSSOOO HUGE!

well i got the game. i dunno if i like it to much. im not a real big fan of the open city..... only played for an hour so far. but i get lost in every race. and all i do is crash. i have no idea where to turn. i dont like how the mini map is. i would rather have track up then north south. can you change that?

i would rather have a closed circuit race. i dunno...... maybe it will grow on me. prolly wont be playing this one to much. burnout 3 is still my favorite.

haha dude you sound JUST like I did after I played the demo. revenge was my previously most played xbox360 game, i think this one has overtaken it.

just give it some time. when you are supposed to turn in the races the street sign will blink and your turn signal will come on. honestly on a good amount of races I did, i didn't follow the "path" that they tell you to follow. same with the burning routes.

but i played it online a ton doing challenges before i actually did single player mode. i also got all the smashes and billboards before i even got my b or a license i think.

Modeps yah I got a ton of my time online doing challenges and stuff. Honestly though the online races aren't that much fun IMO, they are okay but not as fun as in revenge.

my ticker says i've put in 102 hours. but i'm almost certain it runs fast. once, it said i played for eight hours, but i had only been home for about 6, so it was impossible! i played a lot, but not THAT much.

as for the races, once i memorized the "arteries" to each race finish, it was easier. for each race, just figure out how to get to the major road that more or less has a straight path to your destination and thats it. since there are only 8 endpoints, it is doable.

ok. so ive put about 10 hours into the game. i would say the game has grown on me and i do enjoy it now. however i still do not like the races to much. i really just avoid those. the whole make your own route i dont really find to much fun. road rage and marked man are my fav so far. i just figured out showtime and that is pretty neat to. so i will keep playing. just got my A license i think. still have not played online. also hunting down all the billboards and jumps im not sure if i have the time for that. i think once i get the burnout license ill give the game a break

i want to start doing online challenge i think.so hit me up. i know most of u have them but if u want to help me out send me a invite. ill still be playing.

I've played on and off for about a week now. The free roaming thing is starting to grow on me which is good. I really like how streamlined the online mode is with the single player.

Also, if you have a home theater speaker setup, the blinker sound will emanate from the side of your speakers to tell you which way to turn. For instance, if a left turn is upcoming, then the blinker sound will sound in the left channels of your speaker setup. Pretty neat.

If you race online watch out...some races are crafted to get you to go the wrong way.

Started playing this again. The 25 V16 Revenge Burning Route is extremely aggravating. Seriously, why is this giving me so much trouble? I said fuck it once again and went on to the Uberschall 8 BR since I finally took down this car. I completed it on the first try, even crashed once. Extremely easy. What gives? The V16 Revenge is just too damn slow.

DAMN YOU V16 REVENGE! DAMN YOU TO HELL!
