"The one thing I don't like so far is that even though it was praised that every single intersection has something to do, it seems like half of these intersections are boost runs for particular cars. If you aren't driving that car, you can't do the event."

Ok I have one problem. I can't start the showtime and time stuff. I realize i hit the d pad till showtime is highlighted. The streetsigns turn red but then what? I tried to crash and it was just a regular crash and stuff. I think I'm missing something obvious

I know for Showtime you've got to hit both bumpers. For time runs, I think it's automatic when you start driving down the street from one end but I have not tried that yet.

I really like the showtime mode. I find the best way to start is to head into a bus and hit both bumpers and you immediately get a multiplier. Then I just head into oncoming traffic.

These best time and best crash "mini"-games for every street just add so much to the game. I can see playing this for quite some time.

this game is a lot of fun. without having to navigate menus for events, you just keep going and going...and multiplayer freeburn is awesome. completely challeneges as a group is a ton of fun.
This is really a great game for anyone who enjoys racing games. This will be in my 360 for a loooong time...
And the camera snapsnot is a lot of fun too

So what's with the camera snapshot? I saw in the stats section about taking snapshots and such, but I have no idea what it is. I know you can retake your license photo for every race you win, but this other stuff I know nothing about.

I kept taking down this guy the other night and I got flipped off in the pictures a few times then on the last takedown he was holding a big chocolate chip cookie for me.

So for showtime you crash and immediately hit both bumpers? and can anyone verify a way to start the timed road rule?

Oh, I knew about the online portion. That was one of my favorite things in the demo. I thought he was talking about something with the single player. Isn't there some kind of stats related to snapshots or something?

You don't even have to crash first to start showtime. You can just be blasting down I-88 or any street and hit both bumpers and you'll begin showtime. The timed runs only begin at the termini of a specific street and you have to cover the entire length of the road to count, except for I-88, which is broken into 3 or 4 segments. If you begin at a terminus of a road, the timer will/should start.

Excellent usage!

I'm enjoying the game, but the Katamari rip off showtime mode seems like a waste. After doing it twice, I don't care to ever do it again. Just took way too long.

They kept claiming no load screens which is a load of garbage. And the 'pick any intersection' is a bit garbage too since so many require a special car.

I have a feeling I'll get a few more days of fun and then quit because the navigation to events is so horrible and time consuming. Sure, I can see how a 20-second load time for a menu is so inferior to driving around 10 minutes looking for an event you haven't completed and have the proper car. Sure.

twenty second loadtime for a menu? are you on crack (or perhaps your console is)? which version do you have? I experience nothing of the sort, at most the pause / map screens take about 3 to 4 seconds to come up.

I don't think you read it right. I was talking about the devs decision to use the open world intersection setup instead of menus...because they said they didn't want menu load times.

I never got a load time for anything after the initial load at boot up. Even getting online had no loading.

I guess I'm confused as to what load times you're speaking of then

There's load times everytime you start an event. That's fine and dandy.

What bothers me is are the reasons they decided not to put menus in for jumping to events, etc. They said they didn't want load times. I think driving for 10 minutes to avoid a 20 second menu and event load screen is a bit rediculous and will probably cause me to quit playing after the first 5-10 hours.

I think royaldank is trying to say that if the game allowed you to jump to (or even restart) events, the loading introduced by this feature would still take less time than having to actually drive to them (or having to look for them).

EDIT: I don't think that was their reasoning for excluding features that would require loading, though. I think it was more of a design decision to maintain fluidity and keep you in the game rather than have these abrupt pauses where you are just staring at a screen.

Oh yeah I agree and I think they should have left in the option to either jump to any of the events or at least reload the last one. Personally though, I like driving around the city. I like finding the gates and stuff and I like taking down the cars that are out there and adding them to my collection.

I liked this at first also, until I realized that these cars aren't really just "riding around" the city. It seems that 95% of the time, they just come up behind you. I'd like to be driving down a street and see one fly through an intercection going the other way. Only once did I have one of the unlockable cars zoom up an on-ramp while I was approaching it on the interstate, which was pretty cool.

Damn I'm loving this game so far. I've put 5 hours into it and have completed right around 25%. I'm actually liking that there is no instant retry option, it makes the races that much more tense. I also love the make-your-own-route element to the game. I don't know how many times I've taken a wrong turn, and after a quick plot of the map and few deftly maneuvers, I'm right back in the race. At one point I was way off course, and after a series of turns and luck, I ended up on a railroad above one of the bridges. I took advantage of one of the "holes" in the bridge, and dropped down onto the bridge right ahead of 1st, now 2nd, place. It was pretty awesome.

That's one thing I've learned is that no matter how lost you think you are or if you think you're completely done for, you're not a lot of times. I've come back from races that I shouldn't have even come close to being last.

I'm on my B license right now, and you have to win 26 events to get to the A license. I think I'm about 10 wins into that right now, so I'm well on my way. I've got well over half of the smashes, not too many of the billboards, and not too many of the superjumps. I was able to get my 360 degree achievement though.

Just got my Class B License as well, I've been doing a lot of exploring really... and I keep finding new stuff. Like today, I found an abandoned airfield with a ton of jumps... then I came across a dirt circular stock car track. Just awesome how big this place is.

I went to pick this up today and dang, Target is sold out, best buy is sold out, and my gamestop only had display copies left (i'm not paying full price for a box with stickers all over it and rented by people working there). I'll try my luck tomorrow with a diff gamestop I guess.
