I suppose they could do that, but the price would be too high IMO. They'd have to go with the NDP and Martin really isn't interested in the NDPs Fiscal Policies. At least not enough to form an outright Coalition where the NDP would certainly force policies far beyong the Fiscal Balance and Tax Cuts the Liberals want. The one time deal they made with the NDP last Spring was about as much as they could stomach.

The current response on the new government is a positive one on the Can/US Forex market.

which is great with student voter apathy

i'm a little confused though, for the conservatives to have a minority government, don't they have to find a partner first (though they do get the first shot)?

You should add CPC to that list. Let's face it, with such a small minority any attempt to force anything unpopular or non-centrist will destroy their position and will once again send them to the wilderness.

As I said above, they can play it smart and become a normal party, or they can destroy themselves and hand power back to the Ls. Whatever happens, at least it'll be interesting

they got a couple seats due to people being fed up with the liberals and paul martin, they will have to prove themself in a minority government setting to retain those seats

the bloq and liberals and central-left and the NDP is further left, its going to be difficult for the conservatives

Even if you are not voting along the same lines as I, please vote...it's a right and freedom, something people fought hard for.

the polls i've looked at say the 18-24 vote was 26% NDP, 24% Liberal, 20% Conservative with 50% Bloq in Quebec

the millenium bursary left a fair amount of goodwill towards the liberals from students

what have the conservatives done for us?

Yes! The Canada that I love is back! GOOOO CONSERVATIVES! Now all we need is for the Conservative Party to form an alliance with the Bloc Quebecois, and they can hold a majority together which would dwarf the Liberals and NDP. Then all right-wing ides can pass (with the small setback of Quebec getting what it wants, but it's a small sacrifice for conservative goodness).

I hope that was sarcasm...if not than you are not aware most Canadians are left leaners... though I would guess they do not know it. The right wing ideas will not pass, allighning themselves with the BQ will more than likely result in a referendum, that would be political suicide for the cons for many many years to come.
