"Official" Central Ohio Team Anandtech Meet - Nov. 11th!!! *Updated 11/7/00*

WoooMoooo This is coming together nicely.

1. The 1st annual Central Ohio Team Anandtech Meet will be November 11th, at

2. I have gotten clearance for to use the work facilities for the meet!
We have available a conference room that holds 15 - 20 people and has a large projector screen (no TV tuner, but if someone brings a PC TV tuner card we can hook it up, or we can play DVDs) , a kitchen with refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave, a restaurant across the street, grocery store and fast food joints fairly close.

3. For those travelling in from other states there is a hotel across the street, current rate for a suite with 1 queen bed is $54.00:

4. We have the game server, network hub (maybe even a 12 port 100Mbps switch) and network cables covered.

5. I don't have many games, mainly UT. So that's one area I will need help with, as well as setting up the game server.

6. This is open to ALL Team Anandtech members who would like to come and meet some of the team!

7. Please stop in for awhile even if you aren't into gaming.

Update:
Thanks to Tripleshot, we now have several door prizes!

One is a TA hat that will be raffled off (no money involved, just a random drawing of attendees, must show up to be eligible )

The other a TA shirt that will go to the best gamer! (that leaves me out :Q)

To get around the size issue, the winners will get a certificate that they will send to Tripleshot with their size to redeem for the prize! Is that cool or what?

Now if I could just talk the wife into letting me hire the chorus line...

Sounds good to me. I have both a 16 port and 8 port 10/100 switch that we could use. What kind of times are we talking?

If that's the Dublin Wyndham, I stayed there once. Nice place, but definitely not cheap. I actually was there for free though I was the security director at a Wyndham owned hotel in the Cleveland area at the time. I didnt tell them I was there for a job interview with the state for an investigator job.

We don't have to be out of there at any specific time, I will probably get there that morning to start setting up, and we can go for as long as we want.

The only time constraints are any schedule conflicts for me.

We can probably pitch in for pizzas, or take a break and walk over to Max and Ermas next door for dinner.

I need to talk with some of the "experts" around here that have hosted LAN parties for help in setting up the game server, and make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

I might be able to make it for some UT/Quaking (I like q3a a whole lot better, but I'd play both). We'll see though. I have to ask the wife if we have any plans for that weekend

Do you know if the game will be televised? If it is, and we can get ahold of a TV Tuner card, we can hook it up to the projector/screen and watch while we play UT and Q3 and whatever else we can setup!

What's the status of the game server you mentioned? Do you have a copy of Quake3? Need help setting it up? I might be able to link up with you early to give you a hand. One thing that might help everyone be prepared is to publish the games and versions that will be on the server.

I'll be bringing my game PC, I have Q2, Q3, UT, and HL. That PC also has a 10x DVD drive and a hardware decoder, but no TV tuner. I've never tried the video out, but I think it's suppose to be able to play DVD's via the Hollywood Plus's video output, at the same time I'm playing a game on the monitor. I do have the cables and adapters it came with, but I'm not sure what extra audio and video cable I have laying around. I do not have an S-Video cable so if that is needed either I'll buy one or maybe someone else could bring one.

Anything else you need people to bring? Will there be a BYOB restriction?

Ray, you might want to remind those coming that if they've never been to a LAN party, to bring a NIC with them. Also, will 10baseT cards be ok?

I'll have UT and HL with me. (Haven't played Q3A since the test version.) I'll also bring NHL2001 in case anyone thinks UT is too whimpy!

I can use some help with a game server setup. I have a PC we can use, but I don't have many games, UT mainly, Age of Empires Expansion, Quake 3 Arena Demo, Rainbow Six.

If people want to just bring DVDs, I can use my laptop which I have all the adapters for (except audio, reminds me I need to make a run to Radio Shack :Q), and we won't have to rob CPU cycles from the games. although I may want to after playing some!

People need to bring:
PC
Game CD
NIC card. 10T should be fine with what I have as far as hubs and switches
BYOB
BYOMunchies to share
I will provide soft drinks for those who aren't into alchohol.
Music CDs

Other Items needed:
Digital camera/regular camera for blackma...er...I mean pics
TV Tuner card if we want to watch regular TV instead of DVDs.
Anything else that I'm forgetting at the moment. :Q
