He's one of the most solid, hard working players in the nba, and probably has the highest caliber character in the league.
GO CLIPS.
Wasn't he traded because he was unhappy?
Not at all. Noone was happy about the bulls losing ways but he never complained, just played harder. Krause justified the trade by saying that Brand, who had one more year on his rookie contract, wouldn't likely be willing to re-sign with them and traded him instead of losing him to the free agent market and getting nothing in return. Krause also wanted to draft Eddie Curry and didn't think two strong low post players that wanted the ball could co-exist well.
Brand was shocked and hurt when he was traded on draft day but was a professional about it. He said he thought he never thought he would be traded but knew it was a business. He also said that its not true that he wouldn't have been willing to re-sign, and felt that things could have worked out fine playing together with Curry. (I took from this that if they paid him what the clippers did, the max, it would have been a no-brainer that he'd stay)
Drafting Brand #1 overall was one of the best decisions ever (probably one of the easiest ever), but trading him for Chandler was one of the worst decisions ever. (and when it didn't payoff with chandler and the bulls still sucked, it helped send Krause out the door.)
