Please post your experiences with Car waxes and polishes here.


For me the best polish I have used has actually been the Zymol from ....walmart. The one that supposedly Turtle wax produces now. You can even see how it compares to a few others in this test off...which I have linked below. I have also used Mothers but it hasn't worked as well. Both don't last too long though. Also, what is good to use it Mothers clay bar. It worked great on taking out some of the contaminants of my cars paint.

Car Waxes-

Meguiar's Gold Class- Good for consumer level, pretty no sht easy to use, no other comments
Meguiar's Premium Paint Protect - Way up there (with zaino, p12s, etc), lasts a really long time, works pretty well with a buffer

Car Polish
Meguiar's #62-68, #9 SMR, a few others - good stuff
Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze - so freaking hard to buff off, but results are great
Meguiar's #5 New Car Glaze - liek above, but easier to buff off

i'm in the process of converting it all to klasse. but first i'll polish with meguiars swirl free polish.

Meguirs has a product called the 34, its a spray product for finishing. Usually use this for touch-ups, or after dusting. Its incredible for removing fingerprints, wax dust, water spots, etc. Its also used in the New York Auto show (among others, depends on the detailer) for keeping the cars fresh while on display.

I've used either the Meguiar's or Mother's 3 step programs (cleaner, polish, carnuba wax)... sometimes use clay before too. I've never really bothered using the Meguiar's Gold Class or their tan bottle series- NeuroSynapsis, do you know how those compare to the normal red bottle series?

Says you can only get it from their website directly. No retailers. ....I think I may have to try it now though.

3M stuff is nice... I used their rubbing compound (the body shop left a gallon bottle of it in my trunk when I got my car fixed) and the polish/glaze... good stuff. Their adhesive remover is good at removing the glue that's used for window tint.

Zaino's is too expensive and too much of a pain in the ass. Meguiar's is easy to use and provides an excellent finish. Just because one elitist website or a bunch of snobby forum whores say differently isn't going to change my mind.
Check out this pic of my 5-year-old '98 Integra GSR. Meguiar's was the only wax ever used on it. Link I took this pic right after taking it through an automated car wash (car was dry though), and it had been 6 winter months since the last time it had been waxed. That side of the car is in shadow, and you can still see in the paint a reflection of me taking the pic from 12 feet away.
Or check out my new WRX in my sig. That pic was taken minutes after I got the windows tinted, it had been 3-4 weeks since the one and only time I had yet waxed it, and I had run it through an automated car wash 3 hours before.

I have a question about the use of the Mothers' California Clay Bar System.

Is the correct process to use it?
Wash --> apply Clay Bar --> Polish --> Wax? Or should I skip the polish part?

Also, anyone use Meguair's Swirl Remover? Does it actually work?
