actually prior was already out of gas by that point, he has no one to blame but himself (and that guy between second base and third base that was supposed to catch that easy grounder, I believe they call him a shortstop). And he SHOULD blame himself.

I think the shortstop was a new position created this year by the player's union. First base = first baseman, 2nd base = 2nd baseman, 3rd base = 3rd baseman. Clearly there was no need for some guy in between! Next they'll want someone between first and second.
