I've heard that you really need a controller to enjoy it. Anybody here playing it?

I don't think this is the case. Don't see why it would be. Just because its console also doesnt mean you have to play it like a console. Played a couple hours last night using keyboard and mouse. Hope it turns out ok. Haven't played enough to form much of an opinion yet.

So to anyone that has made it to 30, is there any end game yet, ie raids? I want to get this but if there's no end game and I can get there in 2 days, what's the point, may as well wait for a sale or something.

how does inventory/loot/equipment work in this game? I tried playing CoH and CO and the fact that I was never looting better stuff made me quit. Then again, if you're a superhero you wouldn't think you need better weapons/armor/etc, but the gear is what makes MMORPGs fun for a lot of people

I'll wait for a demo or sale, as I dont usually play these kinds of games but with the DC theme I'm willing to give it a shot. $50 seems high for 30 days of play before spending $15 a month. The videos on youtube look pretty fun though.

Saw a long bit on it when watching g4 clips online and an interview of the dev came up. Graphics looked rather meh and gameplay was about as entertaining. While you may not be playing with/against those on a console, it looked as if you were playing on one.

There are bits of loot/inventory/equipment in the game. Some of it is the sell-this-for-money stuff, there are drops for costume pieces, and their are armor/weapons drops. They can be slotted up into your character.

I don't like that much, as it's really against genre. I liked CoH because it didn't have loot and pretty much does away with all the problems associated with it. I understand the draw of loot, but you end up with everyone looking the same, with the same stuff once any particular fotm hits.

It definitely has a consolized gui. You can only have one bar of powers up at a time. You can switch to a different bar with an alt command, so it's not a design decision like GW. Why not have more than one bar up? Console. Etc.

I don't find the clikety, Tap-tap-tap-hold-tap style mouse power activation to be that wonderful. If you like that sort of action paradigm, you might enjoy it better than I. Character customization is lacking. The DC universe as portrayed in the game, was also grating. Fans of it will probably have a different view.

I might play it for free, but during the last week of Beta, that wasn't even the case.

Equipment is completely independent of character appearance (click the button with a mask symbol). You can choose to equip your latest gear but have it show up as a previous costume piece or as nothing at all. Some of the gear appearances you find are also not available in character creation. My guy still looks much like the way I made him despite having different gear in every slot.

I haven't played it myself, I just read a couple of reviews that mentioned how much easier the controller combos were to do as opposed to the left-click / right-click combos.

Its been entertaining, I like the combat but the UI seems really unrefined compared to WoW.
Im playing on Brave New World, name is BrawndoTthrstMutl8tor if anyone wants to join me sometime...

IMO, if you get the game, you should really try out the PvP servers. Open world PvP really fits the heroes/villains theme better. Sure, there's a lot of ganking of low levels, but it's not like you lose anything when you die.

I've been level 30 for the past couple of days. There's a good amount of end game content and items to grind out for a game that has just launched. PvP is also quite deep, so there's plenty to do in that aspect.

No way.

Also: which companies are you talking about? Can you name one?
