Yeah the app is useful for that but I think the app takes too long to click the item, swap it, go back click another etc. It just seemed slow. Maybe it's better now after a few updates?

No you're right, it can take awhile and the UI is quite clunky. But the ability to add a weapon in game is super convenient and is still faster than switching characters and going to the tower. Honestly, the app's functionality is something I expected in game since I bought it back around before The Dark Below.

So, fired up Destiny this weekend to grab Suros (a weapon I never got the chance to get before) and now I'm playing again. Thankfully, you can ascend weapons and armor without Xur!

Level cap raised to 40

Cryptarch rewards from engrams are now more in line with the type of Engram you got

The second half of the Taken King apparently starts once you reach the Endgame (Questlines throughout the Destiny Universe!)

Your Ghost can now scan objects to offer more insight into the world's lore (IE, scan a Cabal soldier, gives you info on their Military Regiment)

You can now turn in Bounties without returning to the Bounty Board!
Intelligence, Discipline, and Strength now have numerical "tiers" that decide their influence on your character

A new progress system where you sacrifice an existing piece of gear that belongs to the same slot (? Kind of confused about this and this is literally how it's read)

The Tower and its NPCs have been retooled to offer quests/story/insight into the world as you level up your character from 1-40 (!!!! Cryptarch, Gunsmith, etc questlines!!!!)

Entire base game/expansions retooled for narrative and access purposes to make much more sense (Example: after meeting the Queen for the first time, the Reef is open to you)

Subclasses, old and new, have their own questlines (?)

GUNSMITH NOW HAS A REP AND THE HIGHER YOUR REP, THE MORE "PROTOTYPE WEAPONS" HE OFFERS FOR YOU TO "TEST IN THE FIELD" FOR REP. Reaching a certain Rep with Banshee allows you access to "Armsday", a weekly purchase that allows you to ORDER LEGENDARY GUNS with GLIMMER.

Crucible and Vanguard Marks are gone! ALL HAIL THE UNIVERSAL "LEGENDARY MARKS" FOR LEGENDARY VENDOR PURCHASES!

Class specific materials needed for upgrading are gone! Hadronic Essences, Armor Plating, etc. have been replaced by "Armor Materials", making it easier to utilize materials on one character towards another to progress them.

NO LONGER FORCED TO WEAR A CLASS ITEM WHEN LEVELLING UP NEW MONARCHY, DEAD ORBIT, OR FWC (you pledge to each faction!)

You can turn in materials to these above factions for a Rep Gain (like the Speaker with Glimmer)

NEW SYSTEM THAT RECORDS ALL SHADERS AND, ONCE YOU'VE GAINED IT, YOU'RE ABLE TO CHOOSE FROM THEM ANYTIME YOU VISIT THE SYSTEM (also shows you the Shaders you don't have AND HOW TO OBTAIN THEM!)

If you have Destiny I + Destiny I DLC - you are paying twice for the same content.

I heard Taken King is 40 by itself. I also don't have any of the expansions. I am selling Destiny on ebay and going to repurchase probably.

Well, the level cap is raising to 40 (rumors on info datemined), so I imagine Taken King is only 40 on normal. Hardmode is probably 42. =(

Regardless, the new DLC isn't actually terrible. Prison of Elders is only a 3 person mode, so it is easier to get into groups and there is a MM version (only lvl 28, but still not bad).

Yeah I meant the price. Refused to pay the 15-20 per dlc to play a new raid. Figured it is a good time to jump in again. The game was great just not much content and the matchmaking/partnering is TERRIBLE.

Ah, yeah. I think Taken King is more of an expansion than a DLC (in archaic terms). For what it's worth, giving players max level without having to really work for end game gear is going to dumb it the end game down so much.


And, who wants Gally to go away? That just means there will be another best weapon with a moronic "never on Xur" rate. But this time, nobody will have it.

That is my problem with Gally. It is completely luck. No matter how much you play the game or how well you do you are not guaranteed to get it. Apparently you are going to be allowed to purchase exotics. Make the Gally or similar God weapon ridiculously expensive. Like 20-50 times the nearest exotic. At least if you did not get it from the drop you can eventually get it through a grinding method.

I think it will be a solid mix of end game gear and level. There is still a light system but it won't be as important as it once was. Sort of like a hybrid between the two. You still need great gear to play hard mode but you are completely shut out of the end game stuff because you did not get a legendary drop.

We will see how this all turns out. I am excited to see how this all goes. If they can just get a basic matchmaking system it would be huge to me. I don't play regularly so I don't have time to build up a clan or scour destinylfg for friends.

The matchmaking system, along with Destinylfg works pretty well, in my experience. So long as you keep up in level and have a mic, it doesn't take long to find groups. It is still a bit ridiculous there isn't an official "destinylfg" type system, but whatever. The matchmaking for things like Prisons of Elders and other strike playlists is good enough.

For what it's worth, I've had little issue getting groups and I have no friends that play Destiny anymore. Granted, I haven't hit 33 yet (just came back and haven't really played this expansion much), but it's worked out fine plenty before then.

That's fantastic that you are able to find people to play with. I have had the exact opposite experience. Had fairly high level titan and barely could find people to play with. That is why I gave up on the game. That was also with a 6 man team so I guess the three man team missions are easier to come by. Either way looking forward to the refresh.
