New Year Resolutions

You have one more weekend to experience Destiny as it has existed in Year One. On September 8th, the deployment of Update 2.0 will change the way we play. Next week, we’ll deliver complete patch notes to keep you occupied. Here’s a tactical preview for how things about to change:

Character

Character Level Cap for all players will be raised to 34
Level Cap for The Taken King will be 40
You will be able to level up by gaining XP alone
Character Level and Light are now separate statistics
Your Character Level will be grandfathered into your highest possible Light Level from all gear in your inventory and vault
Attack and Defense ratings for armor and weapons will be translated to the new systems - their power levels will be unchanged
Grimoire Score has been moved from the Character Nameplate and now displays in the Character Screen
Quests

A Quest Screen will be added to your Menu
Tracks all active Quests
Abandoned Quests can be recovered in the Hall of Guardians
Year One Activities have been converted to the Quest system
Bounties

Bounty slots will be increased to 16
Incomplete Year One Bounties will be auto-abandoned on 09/08 in preparation for launch of The Taken King
Incomplete Year One Exotic Bounties are auto-completed with their respective Vendors
Year One bounties issues by Eris will be retired
Reputation with Crota's Bane can continue to be earned by completing Quests in The Taken King
Tower

Collections have been added to the Tower
Emblems/Shaders can be found near Eva Lavante
Ships can be found near Amanda Holliday
Exotic Armor and Weapon Blueprint added to the Tower
You will now have the Blueprint for all Exotics you own in your Collection
Report to the Vanguard in the Hall of Guardians
Inventory

Motes of Light will be used to grant XP to Weapons and Armor
Class-specific Armor materials will be deprecated in favor of a unified Armor Material
Vanguard Quartermaster, Roni-9940, will exchange old materials for armor materials
Weapons & Armor

Revised Sandbox balance will be in effect, based on our previous analysis

Fallen Wolf Hunt Patrols will retreat in anticipation of the arrival of Oryx in your solar system

Complete those Year One Bounties
Don’t delete characters or dismantle items just yet
Try the Year One campaign again
Jump into the Crucible for some new action
Try your beloved Auto-Rifles again
Destroy remaining Wolf Packs and loot their chests for Ether Keys
Complete your House of Wolves Grimoire as it applies to hunting in the wild
Complete your Moments of Triumph [time extended – read below]
Got it? Good. You have approximately three days from the time that this blog article became a thing to make good on your last milestones of action and adventure. Gather ye Spinmetal while ye may!

New max armor and weapon attack is 280. Hawkmoon now has a sound when the damage bonus procs. New Heart of Praxic fire for warlocks gives increased agility during radiance and extra scout rifle ammo also reduces incoming void burn damage. Exotic blueprints cost 125 legendary marks each. all are level 40. Speaker sells new ghost shells that are armor 170 and 180(for lv36 ones). Can Skip cutscenes now

Pretty sure they go higher than 280. That's the highest we've seen but they haven't shown everything.

My bet is on no for now. For doing the quest line with your subclass you get a class item that is legendary lv40 and def220. I think 280 is the current cap but not everything will get a 280 rating.

Also I tried to do the cabal major/ultra bounty the old way where you do the exclusion zone mission on hard it wouldn't let me. It says light 240 required and it's impossible. There are no longer varying difficulty based on level. Used to load up lv26 or something and kill 6 in one go then die and repeat it. Can't do that anymore.

You can infused the 280 exotics though. I'm betting that raid weapons will be higher. I guess we'll see

Rift was okay I guess. I've found that I don't like any of my weapons now for PVP.

Browsing through the Armory and the new adept trials weapons are 310 attack.

this is from a buddy who PVPs a lot so mostly applies to that

tl;dr for 2.0

-rift is a strong 5/10 with weird ass cheekbones and coloured contacts
-new maps are good, very good
-new bounty system is good
-blink isn't a thing
-arcbolt/firebolt grenades got a massive range nerf and a small damage nerf
-grenades have at best a 30 second cooldown, supers at 5min by default and at best you'll get 3min with gear (going to change with taken king, they stat squished before new gear)

gonna score guns based on ttk, performance, and mileage you get on maps

it's that bad - first shot isn't even centered past 10m

ARs - impact mid tier > stability to 80% > range to 60% > more accurate the longer it's fired > bottom half of each mag does more damage
Pulses - impact high or low tier > stability to 80% > as high of a range as possible > active reload > more damage after reload
Scouts - high or medium impact > MAXED range > 50%+ stability > third eye > who the fuck cares
crutchcannon - useless, who cares

Suros is really good now in pve. It's not on par with a scout rifle but it is a lot better than before.

I'm just looking forward to actually finding weapons and armor that I will use instead of just dismantling everything by default.

Apparently getting the new collectors edition shaders and emblem and emote early was a mistake and they ripped them off some players' accounts just like that. Boneheads, if we got it early then we already paid for the digital edition, we can't refund it. Just leave it alone.

Heh I did obviously but to be perfectly honest I have been having fun in the game since I came back. Must have been the long break that did it and the changes I was thrown into.

Is Destiny better now? I quit before the first expansion. My toon was level 29. I found it pointless to just try and upgrade weapons. I re-installed it on my Xbox One, jumped on, and found very little people playing.

The taken King is $40 but you can get the base game, the dark below, house of wolves, and the taken King for $60. GameStop is giving you $20 if you have the disk and get the $60 edition. If you are digital then you kinda don't have a choice.
