No you do the quest on the character who already had a sword.

So like on one character get the exotic, then on another character get the sword and send it to your first character who already finished the exotic quest to infuse to 280 and start the exotic quest for the next element. You will just have to farm materials and get elemental kills. Then do the boss.

Also for element kills there's a trick, take out your legendary sword of the element you're getting an exotic for. Lets say you're going for solar exotic sword, use the solar legendary sword. Hold block to drain all your ammo. Then use the hilt to kill enemies and it will count as an elemental ability kills and you can supplement those kills with grenades and super. Much faster than waiting for recharge on abilities.

Has anyone beaten Oryx on HM?
I did Warpriest/Golgoroth/Sisters in under 30mins (1st quick run), but Oryx just refuses to go down after 5hrs. The game is glitched in some way where detonating 4 bombs hardly take off any health.

It's like that, you don't get 25% for 4 bombs anymore, you gotta do more runs to get him down.

What we're doing is fresh runs through daughters to gear up and only going to try oryx when we have some more levels. Spending hours on it is stupid IMO. Especially when Halo 5 is coming this tuesday.

Tried tonight. No knight strat, but the group wasn't gelling.

Got invited to help down Atheon on hard, finished in 2 minutes... almost literally.

We spent more time waiting to get ported than doing anything else. They were out of the portal before we killed two waves of supplicants. Then DPSing the boss was about 15 seconds. Sleeper doing 70k a shot etc.

Guys say they still got a 290 though. I dunno, I'm not convinced exotics will open at 320. Guess we will see when people are up to that level.

Just relaying what I read elsewhere. Claims to be 311 and got a 290. I can't personally confirm anything. I just hope I have better luck this week and actually get some stuff to boost me up. Stuck at 309 because I can't get above a 303 ghost or 305 class item is crap. Fighting triple RNG is pretty lame. You need RNG to drop a piece of gear and not just shards, need RNG to give you the specific gear slot you need, and you need RNG to give you a high light piece. Running hard and getting normal drops or even nothing is unappealing.

With Halo releasing I'll probably be spending less time on destiny for a bit. At least until I finish the campaign.

Yeah and those packages for masks...screw that. You need specific masks for specific quests and I'm not gonna be doing that. Saw someone spend $20 worth of silver on them and didn't get one mask he needed for a quest. That's nonsense.

Yeah but you still aren't guaranteed anything that way. As with everything it's RNG. Someone thought they could speed it up by buying silver. Didn't work lol

Yea I got two masks from completing two bags that have nothing to do with the quests at all so they were useless. Typical Destiny

Cleared Oryx HM once and we could have done it a second time but some bad luck caused some deaths. Stuff like people teleporting into shade realm and dying instantly, ogres targeting someone on a platform for no reason and killing them. Just stuff you don't really control. I would have stayed longer but it was getting late and I didn't wanna be tired all day at work. Anyway ended up upgrading boots to 314 up from 311 and got a 316 pulse rifle that I fed to ToM to bring it to 314. Now I can be 310 for Oryx and hopefully subsequent hard runs will bring me a ghost and class item above 303 and 305 respectively lol.
