Yea I got two masks from completing two bags that have nothing to do with the quests at all so they were useless. Typical Destiny

I had some PSN credit on my account that I used to buy a couple packages and I never got the skull mask I wanted. Not gonna spend more to try again for it. Did buy the zombie dance though. The credit was left over from a PSN card I got for my B-Day last month. If I didn't have credit I wouldn't have gotten it.

Cleared Oryx 3 times tonight. Super doable with people who know what to do. I get the "must have emblem" lfm's. Shitty groups can waste hours.

Guess im lucky in that I've currently gotten all the masks I needed through just playing. Might stop once I stop getting them though, its not that important to me and I refuse to pay money for little things like emotes. Still I do appreciate the effort to change it up a bit for the holiday, as d do like that at least the bags detail what is guaranteed to be in there. Hopefully that's a sign of what they will do for somethings in the future.

Also appear to have gotten lucky and got a legendary engram out in patrol that decrypted to the exotic 'truth'! Naturally I don't have enough weapon parts to do upgrades, but it seems cool.

Cleared Oryx HM once and we could have done it a second time but some bad luck caused some deaths. Stuff like people teleporting into shade realm and dying instantly, ogres targeting someone on a platform for no reason and killing them. Just stuff you don't really control. I would have stayed longer but it was getting late and I didn't wanna be tired all day at work. Anyway ended up upgrading boots to 314 up from 311 and got a 316 pulse rifle that I fed to ToM to bring it to 314. Now I can be 310 for Oryx and hopefully subsequent hard runs will bring me a ghost and class item above 303 and 305 respectively lol.


the teleporting into shade and dyeing can be fixed. What's happening is they are getting teleported in as hes doing his sword smash, you can make him smash not in the center by running AT HIM and jumping over him. if you don't do that he smashed in the center right where people teleport in

Ogres targeting people on the platforms is because they did more damage to them then the 2 shooting from the towers. Platform guys should fire 1-2 snipes at them and the rest should come from above

we cleared it again last night on alts

314 auto - fed to Hung Jury
300 Hand cannon - will feed to something
314 chest
something else

Hunter is now 312, and has better gear then the lock, hes actually pretty close to 313

Actually the guy getting shot at didn't shoot the ogres at all. I didn't watch but maybe he was standing closer to the edge where they could target him. I was ducking down and hiding along the back to avoid eye beams.

The way we were doing it is nobody on the platforms shoots at them at all so that they don't target you. Once the relic is secure we jump up and help bring the ogres lower and then after oryx staggers we have plenty of time to drop ogres. It worked pretty well. Every once in a while though the adds would get someone or the blight was too far away that round. When we won we only had 5 people up for most of it too. I ended up not making it back to the aura on the last blight run before the final stagger and win.

I gave one a try yesterday and the waves of enemies just got overwhelmingly hard. Is it one of those things where you could solo it if you are super good at the game, but it's much easier in a group?

Same question for some of the post-Oryx story missions. They show up as "hard" and I tried one and it just seemed stupidly hard in terms of the number of enemies they throw at you.

Heroic missions can be solo-ed but are very hard. Checkpoints make it easier but still advisable to have at least one other friend along.

As for Oryx, I soloed the story missions and they were pretty easy for me. That could be due to me having better gear though.

Everything is based on light level now. The heroic story missions are 240 light. If you are not level 40 with 250+ it may be very difficult for you. For us at 305+ they are not as bad to solo now. Some of the quests require 270/280 light though and even at 309 it can be tough if you aren't on your toes.

edit: Sometimes it seems like people have no idea about the mechanics when they are 306+. Worse is it seems nobody knows how to stand behind a box so golgoroth doesn't eye beam you, or they drop down before the guy gets gaze, or someone runs way down the stairs on Warpriest so they take forever to get on the plate and someone gets destroyed by missiles. Everyone makes mistakes but it's usually the same guy who never realizes what he's doing or not doing. Hell I have trouble at times but I learn what I screwed up and don't keep repeating it. Needless to say it's frustrating...now I know why so many people say LFG sucks, it kind of does.

I'm posting the following after spending 4 hours with the same group trying to beat Oryx. Only one of the group hadn't beaten it, and. Obody was under 312.

Last night, I spent 3.5 hours trying, tonight, 4; here are my takeaways:

If you die to bombs once, you should be kicked from the group. It's amateur.
3 detonations, then 3/4/4 is ok. 2, 2, 4, 2 = enraged
You will always have bombs at least 2 times even if you got 4/4.
If you say "I don't know what killed me", you should be kicked from the group. If you don't know, you can't fix it.

I think he means when you gotta run around the platforms after detonation. Not sure.

Question...why does everyone insist on standing on the ledge under the daughters platforms when we dps the daughters? Last night people insisted on doing that and honestly people died when they didn't have to. Died from adds while trying to jump up, people rush there before the relic holder gets there and they die. On the last run I had to kill it solo because I was torn and everyone got there way before I did and they all got torn up by adds. Reason being, after I slammed the platform I got pushed off the side. So when I jumped up I was alone and ended up winning the final phase for the team. I have always found it multiple times easier to just meet up on the ground near the middle of the area (not off the side) for dps. Then we can kill adds easily and nobody is blocking clear shots to acolyte eyes etc. if we did it that way nobody would have died because it would be much quicker to just drop down than to try to hit the ledge or drop down and jump up. Plus the screen shakes way too much IMO when you are on that ledge, everyone is clumped together and it's easy to bump someone off etc. it's just not as good to me. So why do people insist that that is the only place to go? I did it many times on hard with no deaths by going down to the ground each time.

I disagree, the ledge works best for my groups. Sounds like you have other issues (eg. getting to the platform and timing). Its easier to do DPS from ledge, less screen shakes from adds hitting you, central spot for everyone to get to quickly and easier to kill adds after daughter dies.

We can agree to disagree, but I prefer the ledge every time.

I have to agree the ledge sucks, and in my experience the screen shakes even more there

first kill on mine in week 1 we just stood on the stairs as you enter the room
works fine, 1 rounded them
we 1 round each on HM from there now

It's easier when you're on the ground because the screen does not shake. It shakes uncontrollably when you're on the ledge and I don't believe anyone who says otherwise. There's more room for everyone, and when you get pushed off you don't have to jump back up which is slower than just running over to the middle or somewhere else. There's really no contest here. The problem is not how people are doing the slam etc, the problem is the ledge sucks. Every single time some group says they wanna do the ledge there's failures multiple times because people die. When I convince people to stand in the middle toward the front or back suddenly it's not a problem, nobody dies, we have more time, there are less adds alive at the end, and everyone is amazed at how easy it is.
