A group I was with tried ledge. Failed twice. I talked then into staying on the ground and it was finished in under 2minutes then.

and I ran the relic both times...

Here is my Oryx experience from yesterday:

1. PUG no knight group took 1.5hr
2. PUG Kill everything strat on Oryx 45 mins
3. Our group last night, 45 minutes from Warpriest to Oryx clear

I was 315.3 for half a second, but put a 320 pulse rifle into NTE to get it up to 317. It works really well on the shade, since the raid RL is only good for clearing adds with the large blast radius.

No kill can still rng f you. Like when ogres loose focus on tower team and just turn and destroy someone on the plates

nah, the 2nd team was the one I was in when you messaged me.

CMD, the 3rd we did almost the whole raid.

OK, the kill everything is easier than no knight, at least for PUGs.

Assign plates 1,2,3
Two titans with blessings and weapons on daughter platforms.

1. It starts, get on plate, first ogre spawns, the two titan destroy it, the plate person diagonal shoots the knight that spawns.
2. Titans dip in the bubble and get the next ogre
3. Knight spawn and the diagonal plate person snipes it again.
4. Rinse and repeat and the titans take down the 4th knight if possible.
5. By this time relic runner already has it, we all get off our platforms and run to him on the ground, clearing any left over adds and knights and meet in the middle.
6. Stagger, kill adds (plenty of time)
7. Run to assigned blight and detonate on countdown
8. Run back and DPS to keep his chest open.

It was so fast and no chance of an ogre taking out the relic runner or a plate person. It made it as easy as normal since the blight bombs are right where they are supposed to be.

Easier to train a titan what to do than chance it with adds and ogre stares.

Never did the knight kill strats. Where do the knights actually spawn?

Just bought the game. DLing the 19 gig patch. Any advice for a newb? Does the game start out with an intro of some sort?

You get a bit of an introduction in the first mission but really no, you gotta figure the game out as you go. Best advice is to play the story from the beginning. Pick a class and go with it.

I can't do No knight anymore. It's dumb, slow and unreasonably dangerous for no reason.

I did 3 full raids with pugs this afternoon and Oryx went down the first time each run when we killed ogres, and two shotted Knights. If someone missed a knight, people in the middle took them down in seconds.

Wow...Nightfall reward on 3rd character was horrible. Especially for a solo run. Can't imagine getting anything worse for that effort. Full on marks too so I didn't even get 3 of those.

My review:
1) This game sucks
2) Why am I addicted to this game?
3) I love this game.

OK ... really. This game is pretty damned incredible. If the load times were better it would be epic. I still don't fully understand the aliens and what not. What the different races are, etc. But that is on me. Other than loads times, I wish the game better explained the aliens early in the game. There are alot of nouns tossed around and it is hard keeping track.

No it's not you, the story in this game is non existent so not your fault for not knowing who's who. They finally added some story for The Taken King, it's not great but it's finally something.

Yeah and almost all of the lore and background in the game comes from the grimoire which is separate from the game and accessed through the app or the website. There is a lot of great characters etc. but there isn't much in the game.

It reminds me of some stupid show on Syfy that people tried to tell me was awesome, but in order to understand what race was what and who hated who you had to go to the website to read up on it all. Any time I have to study in order to understand it, you've failed in storytelling 101.

Destiny is fun mindless FPS grinding for the amusement of just grinding. The moment you try anything more from it, like a compelling story or have some purpose like a helmet that has 2 more points, it'll fall apart.

For the Destiny gods,... I'm now at 290s, is doing the raid the only way to get to 300? Thing is though, most groups don't want to run with anyone less than 300. I haven't even gotten the Black spindle coz of that too!

you can get 300 blues. And, you can get 310 exotics. My recommendation is to buy 3 of coins and use those to farm exotics off heroic level strikes. Then, infuse those into your gear and you should be able to get over 300 easily. I want to say I got 305 before the raid.

bullshit you can do the normal at 290, oryx is the only one who will be hard

besides that, court of oryx will get you a 300 artifact (quest), you get a 300 special from finishing all the story stuff

court also drops a ton of blues/legendarys, if you have runes to use and even if you don't

running strikes can help, using 3oC will get you exotics but will prob be 290s for the majority you decript at your level

But if you're not 300, do exotic engrams decode to 300+ items?

I'm only 295 and the only piece of gear that was above 300 was a chest piece in the raid. I've never gotten an exotic engram to decode to something above 300.
