Install took just over 2 hours. Pathetic.

Played about 6 hours and ended up at level 13. A lot of time spent trying to figure things out (tower is a PITA until you start just looking things up to understand it).

The time spent going between zones reminds you of the install process as it seems much longer than it needs to be. Can be forgiven on those times where the game is telling you backstory and such, but when you're just sitting there looking at the same video it becomes a yawn fest.

It the same with Warframes unless you have someone to help you out. Remember the game been out for a while so a lot of new content is added and so everything become overwhelming. Add me to your PSN. Same name as my username on here.

I'm already missing Destiny pre 2.0. ALL the legendary raid gear seems rather lackluster. I don't like any of the guns since they feel really cookie cuttery.

I always liked playing crucible and strikes in hope of getting a legendary weapon with cool perks. Now I get to pick a gun from a selection the gunsmith gives me in hope that it will be better than last weeks.

The legendary and exotic engrams are always the same mini selection of gear and weaponry that doesn't require a specific faction or class. I'd be ok with that if it wasn't the same weapons with their nerfed perks.

My favorite weapons were Pulse Rifles with secret round. Secret round is nerfed to the point where it is useless. Many perks are nerfed to the point where year 1 weapons were way better than their year 2 versions unless light level comes into account. It feels like the game regressed in some ways. The fact that they kept perks like secret round and field scout even though they didn't have much a bonus really irks me. It seems like a lot of the perks in Year 2 weapons are plain mediocre.

Even after getting all the kings fall gear, I find myself going back to gunsmith and vanilla legendary gear with properly good perks. Then I realize I am bored of all these mediocre weapons and wish I could use year 1 weapons again. Nearly every year 1 exotics that are transferred to year 2 are worse for wear. A lot of the new exotics are really fun, but they aren't worth using unless in specific scenarios.

I'm sure many will disagree with my opinion on Destiny year 2. I am definitely burned out before I could hit LVL 25 on all the 3 factions and I don't even enjoy the subclasses very much anymore.

I wish I could enjoy the gunplay like I used to; which was the heart of the game for me.

This game is scaring me even without the music. Warframes was scary too but at least I had my friends (who can't stand console) and it was in third person.

I think the whoile point of year 2 was to not have any gear that is must have. Remember Gjallarhorn that some people never got? There were times that if you didn't have it you got kicked from raid groups. They wanted to have more variety in the loadouts you could choose. So basically there isn't any weapons that you never take off with a few exceptions for specific encounters (Spindle, ToM and maybe swords ).

Was doing the dark below stuff after finishing up the regular moon stuff. Got the the awakening and would have done it if I hadn't run out of heavy ammo. The mobs the kept spawning dropped a crap ton of secondary ammo, but almost no heavy, so got through the witches OK but then couldn't finish off the crystal. Checked a walk through after as it was late and didn't want to restart and it listed it as a level 26 recommended while I was only 15. Assuming it's the gear scaling which allowed me to not get insta gibbed there.

Should I go through the whole exercise of collecting all the crystals for the touch of malice?

Also any easy way to getting to getting exotic shards to increase the light level of exotics?

Yes, get the fragments for the ToM. Some groups want you to have one before letting you in.

Copied this from reddit DtG thread:

So not sure if other people are in the same boat but I've been struggling to get exotic shards since infusion came into play and xur stopped selling exotic shards. I recently tapped out my ability to buy exotics at the kiosk with marks and figured I'd be grinding out 3 of coins or trying to save up strange coins to buy exotics when xur comes around.
So I came across this method by accident and I'm not sure if it is well known in the community but it solved my problem with exotic shard infusion and I wanted to get the word out to anyone in the same situation.
Here is the Method:
Prereqs: 1 exotic shard, 2750 glimmer, 6 motes of light
Step 1: Buy an exotic heavy weapon(rocket launcher or machine gun) from the kiosk for 1 exotic shard and 2500 glimmer
Step 2: Buy and Consume a Heavy Telemetry from the Gunsmith (250 Glimmer and lasts for 30 min). You can also equip a class item with an increase upgrade rate (Rockets or Machine Gun) for the same result.
Step 3: Burn 6 motes of light with the new heavy exotic equipped - don't upgrade the perks, just put motes of light into the gun
Step 4: Dismantle exotic for 2 exotic shards + either weapon parts or motes of light
Step 5: Rinse and repeat until you run out of glimmer or motes
The method allows you to basically buy exotic shards for 2750 glimmer and 6 motes of light from the kiosk and opens up exotic infusion.
Hope this helps
Edits - edited to include Heavy telemetry in the mix to reduce mote consumption.

I'm feeling just a little butthurt over being quick sniped all over IB and back again last night. First of all, sniping should be a sit and wait game. Set yourself up, get your sniper out, dial it in, and wait for a target. The way it is implemented in many games is completely bullshit. There should be no such thing as quick sniping. I'm running around a corner and see an enemy and before I can even get my Mida up, boom, headshot. I watch youtube videos of guys jumping all over the map just headshotting people with their sniper and have to think they are part robot with an autoaim program.

WTF??

This is complete and utter bullshit. I already have a semi difficult time aiming. I honestly don't know how people do this well with a controller. How can you see someone and move directly to where there head is while they are moving.. I don't get it. Aim assist helps a bit, but I can't ever get it reliably.

Quick sniping needs to be fixed, not only in destiny, but in all games that use it. It's a bullshit one hit kill that some people have mastered (and I can appreciate the skill needed to do it), but it shouldn't even exist and only makes it so that people who have mastered it have a very unfair advantage over the vast majority who dont use it.

Run around a corner, boom, headshot, spawn, run 3 feet, boom, headshot. i get headshot before I can even pull my weapon up to shoot and as an old fart, its frustrating as hell because I used to be good at pvp, you know, back when there weren't bullshit quickscope mechanics.

Love, destiny, hate the pvp aspect of it, but unfortunately you have to pvp if you want some of the weapons.

Going to load up some quakeworld mp and tell the kids to get off my lawn.

I'll look you up in game and we can go do the quests together. There are a few of us here on XB that will be glad to assist.

Yes it is worth getting ToM and if you buy ten of coins and use them and dismantle any exotics you don't want for the exotic shard.

Other than some non-quest areas, finished up earth, moon, Venus, and mars. Hit level 27 and got the stranger rifle which looks to be the end of the pre-tk stuff.

Haven't really dived much into anything in game other than leveling up, in part because the game does a pretty crap job of telling you anything about gameplay.

Is there any point to pistols or scout rifles? Pulse rifles seem the best but a high capacity AR seems good for close quarter stuff.

As far as secondaries, shotgun seems like crap. Fusion is interesting, just not sure how it is better than say a rocket, other than being able to cancel the shot if the target moves but that can be bad if you want to take a snapshot the rocket allows.

Other than finishing up the two original dlc expansions, I see a TK quest area on one of the planets, do you just go there to start TK?

For pve, I prefer scout rifles. Secondaries are very much environment specific. Some strikes are best for sniper, some for shotgun, not much for fusion rifles, though I admit my favorite secondary right now is the telesto. One shot takes down shields, second shot usually kills the mob.

I rarely use rocket launchers unless its the truth in PVP. I normally roll with my sword or LMG like the terminus.

Some people swear by hand cannons. I can't aim them worth a crap, but they are very viable in PVP. A good legendary scout rifle is treads upon stars. Mine has pretty good perks and I use it or smite of merain pulse rifle almost exclusively on my warlock. For titan its either the Mida multitool or the dead orbit hung jury. The hung jury has an excellent roll this week....

I did just get the monte carlo last night and am playing around with it. Looks to be an awesome PVP autorifle. Stability is excellent!

ah, wasn't thinking much about pvp. You are likely correct that several of them are better in those situations than in normal pve.

The dead orbit hung jury is the same every week.

Scout rifles own everything else for PvE IMO especially Hung Jury(dead orbit faction weapon) and Touch of Malace. I've found great usage for the Warlock exclusive scout rifle as well which shoots faster and more stable than any other scout rifle in the game when you have your super filled and hits as hard as the Hung Jury(which is one of the higher tier impact scout rifles). Some people have used the raid scout rifles with good effect provided you get good perks(King's Fall Raid). When you dial in with them it's almost unfair to the enemy. Some fusion rifles are great to have. Susanoo will change element and Telesto shoots exploding darts that do AOE damage.

Rockets are good for some things and machine guns good for others. Or swords too, they can be very useful. I would switch depending on my mood or what I was doing. Strikes and stuff I toy around and swap weapons to have a bit of fun. Sometimes I just wanna destroy everything quickly and I have a different set that I use.
To start TTK just go to the mission marked as you pointed out.

Picked up my first secondary handgun, from last of the wolves quest line I believe. Actually like it quite a bit.
