I'd like to try this theory, but I have one gold bounty for the pulse rifle sitting in my list b/c I can't find a single blue pulse rifle salvage to save my life. Also, damn gunsmith never sells them either. Starting to get really annoyed by this. I get it, RNG, but it seems like blue pulse rifles just became extra rare b/c i have this bounty in my list.
I did try this theory and it didn't work, twice.
I've given up trying to get bounties at this point. I ended up finally hitting VG rank 3 and of course as a reward, I finally got the legendary pulse rifle I was after so I didnt even have to buy it. I ended up buying the other one (which I like more anyway despite less impact which I feel is totally arbitrary anyway) because I maxed up my VG marks and needed to burn some.
At this point the lynchpin to everything is shards and it seems the only way to get them reliably is to do the raid, which requires 5 other people who arent retarded and I honestly don't have the free time to coordinate that kind of shit with what little time I have to play at night. You can get lucky with your first daily event, or do the daily mission on level 28 for the
chance of shards, otherwise I don't know what else to do in the game now. I am almost level 29 but I need raid chest/helmet to get to 30 and of course 10000 shards or whatever nonsense needed to upgrade them.
Probably going to pick up shadows of mordor and switch over until there's more content for Destiny, I'm fine with aimless grinding but you cant even do that to get what you need so it seems like there's not much else to do now but wait.
