I read it but saw nothing, even in your quoted part that says "destiny is the game that will help you". This is how the story has been portrayed all day on the forums I visit. That the doctor specifically recommended the game. If that is not the case then fine.
I just got level 20 and the game does a really poor job telling me what I'm supposed to do. It said to do Strike playlists for vanguard marks, but I'm not really geared enough for the Mars strikes. I've also heard something about Strange Coins. Anyone point me to an article or want to briefly explain what's a good progression?
Strange coins come from doing the weekly strike and they can also be rewards from other events or engrams. They are used to buy items from Xur who appears between Friday and Sunday morning. He sells random exotic weapons and armor for each class among other various items. He also sells a random exotic engram each week for 23 notes of light. You get motes of light instead of XP gains after you reach level 20. When your XP bar fills up you will receive 1 mote. Disagree 100%. Just because someone got RNG luck doesn't mean everyone should suffer having junk weapons. Raid got tons easier when people got ice breaker and suros. When people have good weapons and armor to level up it helps the whole team.
First expansion due out in December, and it only has a few other missions, some story and another raid......I'm lvl 28. I don't see the point of this game anymore.

I said that when people have access to good weapons and armor, it helps my raid runs and other events go much more smoothly. When people have the ability to buy a good weapon like suros or an ice breaker and can level it, it kills things faster and we don't have as many wipes due to not enough damage on enemies that need to be killed.So you think everything should be available for sale?

Theres plenty of other guns I don't have, but I think its dumb to water down the experience of finding something that is supposed to be unique when you can just buy it with easily obtainable coins. It's pretty dumb for everyone to have suros now. I used to get owned by Suros all the time in PvP, and was fine with that, knowing that hopefully it would drop for me someday and I would be able to use it against others.

Let me say this. I am lv30 with enough maxed weapons that any element that is needed, I have two at 300. In some cases 3, including ice breaker, vision, epilogue, suros, hezen vengeance, praedyth's revenge, patience and time. So gloating about gjallarhorn is about as good as gloating you got a full raid set in two runs. It is RNG. Nobody did anything super special to get things to drop. They got lucky. Just like me in the raid. I have had relatively good luck. I didn't do anything different than the thousands of players who still need drops from normal.
For the record, I have done raid hard with no gjallarhorn on the team and it wasn't as if we were gimped cause of that. Is it good? Yes. Would I like to have it? Yes. Do I care if you got it by luck or bought it? No.
There are a lot of items that Xur can't and won't sell. You sound like the butthurt one because you got lucky and are not special.I read and understood just fine based on what you wrote. I said I dislike the idea of Xur and the selling of exotics, and you diagreed and think that selling exotics is great because it makes YOUR raids easier.
My argument still stands, this game is about grinding and RNG. Selling exotics for easily obtainable coins goes against that philosophy.

It makes it easier when people have better weapons? No shit. You just proved my point that you want people to be able to buy any weapon, and I was against it. It's okay for us to disagree, I just don't understand the butthurt response.
Bungie is thinking of other ways to get upgrade materials besides running in circles farming chests.

I really hope they add something else. I've basically stopped playing altogether because I don't have enough materials to upgrade my handout legendaries and refuse to run around planets looking for them. I am stuck mid 26 because during my initial leveling I didn't find enough to level anything up more than once.

I never said any weapon either. You made that up. Without Xur there would be a million players with no exotic stuff at all. You would also have raids taking 3 hours still because people aren't leveled and can't cause no exotic or raid gear. How is that good at all? It isn't.
