I am happy for the marks to planet material. I hate running around a planet trying to find the materials (which take way too much to upgrade, btw). I had been relegated to spending my time logging on, doing a few strikes and never progressing past level 26 and a half, and logging off. I don't want to run around a planet hoping to find one or two spots to get some materials to upgrade after 6 hours of farming...
On every planet there is a loop you can run and get 80 materials in under an hour easily. It was boring but that's really the only thing.
As for the update... they didn't fix any of the 5 or so glitches I can name in the raid but they won't let you push the templar off. So what that means is now nobody will be getting the extra chest on hard mode because the fight will take way longer than 5 minutes. They also made it harder to rank up cryptarch. Even with the increased chance for legendary, I would rather have 2 blues that could be coins or potentially legendary than to take 500 turn ins(exaggerate) to get 1 rank. Exotic weapons require new materials to max out. This screws anyone who upgrades their weapon before xur is available. 7 coins for 1 shard is ridiculous as well. That's too many IMO. I mean yeah coins are pretty easy to get and I appreciate ascendent materials not being used for any of the exotic weapon upgrades(even though I have a ton of those too). I think expecting people to get one shard per weekly strike run is a little much. Especially if you have 5 or so of the weapons on that list that got buffed. It even applies to exotic armor. So lets say you get a horn in nightfall, are working on mida and plan c, and have a new exotic armor you didn't max before this update. You need to spend 28 coins to max all of those. That's a lot of coins, so hopefully they are semi-generous with the drop rate. I have a lotof coins myself as I'm sitting on 57, but I found ascendent materials much easier to get. I guess they just want to make people spend more time in the game to upgrade their stuff since it was not too difficult to get stuff maxed. I suppose you're lucky if like me there's only one item xur can sell that you will ever buy at this point. You can hoard exotic shards every time and just keep enough coins to buy that item that you want. For me it's Gjallarhorn. SO I'll always keep enough coins on hand to buy it.
I feel bad for anyone starting this game fresh. The amount of time sink Bungie has added to the game since launch is just ridiculous. All they really do is exchange one RNG for another RNG while removing strategies from boss fights. I have over 300 hours into this game and I would still play, if I had an incentive. Bungie seems to want people to just stop playing. They go all QQ when people figure out how to beat their challenges quickly. It's like the kid who changes the rules for the kickball game because "it's my ball and you'll play how I tell you to".
