No it's not that there is a bundle with a collectors edition. It's that people already bought the base game and two expansions and it feels like they are expected to buy them over if they want the extra stuff. There is no option for people who already have the stuff from last year to just get the new things. It's all or nothing. That's the problem. People want new stuff but don't want to feel like they are being forced to buy stuff they already own to get it. It would have been simple to offer the collectors edition without last years stuff for people who already own the base game.

The option is there to just buy the new stuff, I don't understand what you mean by "they are expected to buy them over if they want the extra stuff". if you want extra stuff, you have to buy it. If you don't want the extra stuff then don't buy it and get the standalone DLC.

Blizzard doesn't justify jacking up the price because they included previously released games with the new release.

What do you mean jacking up prices? As I understand it, the GOTY edition includes the base game, expansion and the two DLC packs for $80 correct? That is cheaper than the base game + a season pass + expansion.

Okay, I'm starting to understand this a bit more. I thought people were upset because there was a GOTY edition with stuff they couldn't purchase, which I think is fine. But this is the collector's edition of the expansion.

They should have made two SKUs. CE with expansion only and GOTY edition. However, I still think it is okay if they offered bonus/exclusive content in the GOTY bundle.

That doesn't include the shader, emotes etc

People might want that stuff to be more unique in the game but they don't want to rebuy the game they've had for a year. Collectors editions are for fans and fans have been playing for a year and don't need the base game and first two expansions. Putting it in that bundle feels a little like they are simply trying to milk more money from people unnecessarily. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a thing to kick people from the fireteam who use the new emotes as sort of a protest of spending the money on the cash grab collectors edition. Especially in light of the recent interview where Luke Smith basically talked about the players as a wallet and not a member of a community.

Honestly It would have been so simple to offer a sku without that stuff and lower the price a bit, especially on the digital edition.

The collectors edition in physical format costs $80 and comes with the following. Note, the items in bold are the stuff people already bought last year. Why can't they release a $60 edition and eliminate those? Here's where it gets worse. The digital collectors edition is still $80 but you don't get the steelbook, the artifacts, the cayde-6 book, or posters etc. Further the taken king is $60 and includes last year's content as well. Why? Why can't people just buy the part they don't have? Proof in the following link. Notice there is no option to purchase just the new content.

They'll now sell a separate dlc for the vanity items and emotes from the collectors edition, for $20. So $60 now instead of $80. it should be free.

I logged about 400-500 hours in Destiny. I bought the Digital Collector Edition day one. I feel I've got more than my money's worth out of it. HOWEVER, I will just say this...I am glad that I haven't played since the first week the newest DLC dropped. I completely forgot how much fun it was to play other games LOL. I was addicted to Destiny like crack. Now that I'm off of it I look back and go, well that was fun..or was it? Doing same thing over and over again, running Raids in a tenth the time it used to when we were figuring them out, etc. Became just 'work' to keep playing. So, I've moved on. I did find that interview quite interesting, and basically just confirmed my feelings of the cash grab running up a $40 minimum DLC price. When it comes out, I'll probably be able to pick up Batman AK for $40, as I'm knee deep in The Witcher 3 right now.

Things that are making me not play this game as much as I used to:
- Long loading times
- Vault organization and character management
- 30 fps (This and Forza Horizon 2 are the only 30 fps games I own for Xbox One)
- RNGesus giving me the middle finger

Yet I still want to play this game.

Weird considering Luke Smith kind of said it wasn't possible. What a quick turn around. Assholes.

There is no way right now for you to get the new dance emotes without doing that (buying collector's edition). Those are Collector's Edition exclusive. We've set some stuff aside for that edition specifically to really make it appeal to fans who have engaged with the game already and also to people that will enter the game this autumn.

I already asked but I never got an answer, anyone knows if the physical CE will unlock the base game right away or you have to wait for launch as opposed to the digital CE that unlock the base game right away?

I don't see that info listed anywhere. I would assume you buy physical you need the disk. I had the disk for the base game at launch last year. Also it only says "play it now" on the digital edition. I'm going to have to assume that you have to go digital to get the base game and stuff immediately.

Its just a bad way of doing business and screwing your current user base. They want people to spend $100 dollars every year for new content.

I doubt I'll buy the emotes and stuff, but just curious, how do you assign the 3 new emotes?

Since our D-pad already has 4 emotes, do the 3 new ones replace 3 of the old ones?

Or can you assign which one you want?

For me, breaking it out into a $20 add on seems even worse. Because then it literally puts a value on that stuff. At least with the CE its an exclusive bonus to the set which also includes a bunch of physical items (with the physical copy of course.) Now it just feels like $20 emotes

You probably select them somehow.

Yeah, they are kind of clueless IMO.

I got my $60 worth. I don't feel I got my $30 worth out of the season pass. No way am I giving them $40 for more of the same. I'll likely wait for D2 and hope they make it open world.

I don't feel bad at all about the $60 I spent on it. Sadly, I bought the season pass and never even bothered with the second DLC. So, I don't know if I got my $90 worth or not, but I had a fun while I played it.

I had a lot of fun with the game, definitely got my $60 out of it. I traded it in last weekend.

I was going to call out Arkham Knight as another offender. $60 for the game and $40 for the first 6 months of DLC. BUT, the core game is complete. It is huge. I don't feel like I am missing anything. In fact, that makes me want to buy the season pass since the core game offers so much content.

It's kind of like The Witcher in that regard. It's a very big game too and the DLC for that title is supposed to be 30hours worth. That's more than some full games.

The Batman DLC hopefully will include longer Gotham City stories involving characters we only see a bit of like Nightwing and Robin.

Yeah as I've said before I got stuck with the season pass due to the version of the game I purchased (The Ghost edition). I really liked the game and it's core concepts but certain mechanics in practice were just not that good IMO.

So me and my friends have always been going to the tower, putting away inventory, and then switching characters to go back to the tower and get the gear. I always loathed the long loading times and often forgetting some gear which took forever to switch back. I think gear management between the 3 characters was the most tedious part of the game.

Last night while in a strike, I was suggested to use the app to manage my gear from a random player. Wow, having the ability to have access all my gear on the fly without changing characters has given me the motivation to get back into Destiny. How have all my friends not noticed the app's ability to transfer gear? How come I haven't until now? I must be living under a big rock with my clueless raid buddies. Feels good not having to switch characters in game to swap gear. Now I have the Wolves DLC to get through!
