Played it a bit today Game is pretty dope! A lot more refined and better in general than the first one. Starting missions while on patrol is a huge improvement. Also access to the director from every place. I also like the kinetic/energy/power distinction they did here instead of primary/special/heavy from the first game. Can't wait to get some weapon combos that give additional bonuses

Happy to hear you say that. I have hurricane prep today and tomorrow so I dunno if I will get much time to play it but I am looking forward to it.

Be safe.

I had said I wouldn't get this as the last one ended up becoming on of the most repetitive games I've ever played, but I found myself loading up the stupid thing last night anyways. I'm blaming the really light amount of games coming out of late. Either way, I'm hoping this one turns out way more interesting than the last one. It starts off epic feeling enough, most so than the first one. I'm just hoping it doesn't devolve into "play X mission 3 times in a day to get the bounty" crap the first one did.

I'll be starting the game tonight. I got into Destiny very late (after RoI), which seems like a good thing considering the initial state of the game, but I enjoyed it a lot so I'm really looking forward to the sequel.

Thanks guys, and Qbah I'm sure I'll be seeing you online at some point for more shenanigans, loot drop disappointment, and bullet sponge bosses.

Like it so far, a little overwhelming with not knowing how certain things work yet. Slowly getting used to it

I like it too, find the maps are a little cluttered though; seems like I'm constantly backing into things. There was a lot of stuff going on in that first area after the prologue and I didn't know where to shoot. I haven't played an FPS on playstation in quite some time so my aim's a bit off

certainly no shortage of people playing either

I noticed that too, the later maps are dangerous with pitfalls and such as well. The campaign thus far is great and I really like how you can have a scout rifle for kinetic, an auto rifle for energy, and a sniper rifle for heavy. So many variations possible now. Energy weapons seem to destroy shields faster than I remember from destiny 1 as well which seems cool. I'm pretty slow at it because I'm still learning how the map, director, and everything else works so I only got to lv10 and just finished the quest for voidwalker on my warlock. So far though going on patrol is much more fun with the activities and lost sectors littered around. This is definitely what the first game should have been, at least so far.

Speaking of which does anyone else play warlock and feel dawnbringer is disappointing? I didn't know what to expect but I'm underwhelmed with it on the whole. The super is pretty difficult to handle and doesn't really have good targeting unless I'm doing something wrong. None of the subclass specific abilities really strike me as being special so far either. I'm definitely looking forward to getting stormcaller because it looks to be the better option. On the other hand the healing circle is a godsend at times. I just need to remember to use it more.

the striker subclass for the titan class is much better than the purple glowing captain planet mode... which also had lousy targeting and seemed completely erratic. i chose titan because I feel like I'd be a better hunter on PC, with the precision mouse aim and such. i was having a hard time at first on console but I finally got the feel for how the controls reacted; didn't take long to be honest. it's a good thing because the enemies are constantly moving around.

also Titan the moon is a cool location, but way too bright during the day for Hive if you ask me. the loot started to really roll in but I'd really like a new ship class. the one I have now looks like something that a bunch of them threw together at the farm out of spare tractor parts.

This could be be considered a spoiler but I feel like posting it here is pretty important so you don't waste this item since it works different than before and was never mentioned and waste REAL money on it.

Shaders are one time use now. You can use them only once on one piece of gear only. Unlike prior Destiny where it color your whole gear and you could put them on and take them off as many times as you want. This is one time use only. Especially since you can buy these with real money now, people are pissed off of course.

Just a heads up and to me, this is annoying, but obviously not game killing since it's cosmetic only, but shaders were a really fun and cool part of destiny and now they turned it into a micro transaction.

that's definitely Activision's doing... and doesn't surprise me. it looks like you can preview how it looks before you apply it though. i think i can live with that. i only got one or two that I actually liked in the first game.

Yeah I heard about that last night. No big deal for me. I just won't use shaders anymore.

Im leaving work early and don't work tomorrow because of the hurricane so I plan to get in some quality time tonight before everything gets knocked offline on Saturday.

Glad to see the multi tool is back. Is 270 the current cap at the moment or is it possible to inch up with infusion material?

From normal gear or does it require raid stuff? I'm just wondering where the soft cap is right now for normal stuff you can get through strikes, rewards, etc. I'm not even close, think I'm between 210 and 220 or so as of last night when I was up until 4:00AM grinding levels out so I could redeem all my reputation and finishing stormcaller quest. Didn't even do all the campaign yet.

Damn, I'm barely at lvl 5. Plan to set aside some time tonight and this weekend to get some real playing time in.

With my little playtime, I'm so far most happy about public events and how you know when and where they are going to show up. More people show up because of that which is good for me since I'm mostly a solo player.

Not only that but there are heroic public events. If you do something specific you can trigger a heroic event which gives better rewards. Put an arc charge in a container during the fallen walker event and you face two of them and get better rewards from the chest. The rewards from events can be really good too which helps keep people interested in doing them. Also since you are rewarded just for participating in them even if you don't win there is really little downside to doing it if you have a few minute of time. Usually not completing the objective rewards coins for reputation but since coins fall like rain in my experience from nearly everything I do it is easy to get a higher power level quickly after you reach 20. Every chest I've come across gives them and I find myself often stumbling across a chest that dropped off one of the yellow enemies someone else was fighting and being rewarded for just being there. It makes getting some decent gear really not a chore at all and I feel there is far less of a grind or at least it feels more rewarding to just play and not being limited to just daily bounties to gain reputation or having to repeat boring farming of materials to turn in etc.

The usual patrols are there and accessed as part of the story and while they are basically the same, there are other ways to gain rep and in turn, gear. Daily bounties replaced by challenges that just give you 3 tasks to complete on each world as you play along. I've completed some of them just by chance without even focusing on them specifically which is much better than in the first game where I ended up using specific patterns to complete the bounties. Being able to do different public events, lost sectors, and activities while being rewarded with gear, coins, or both at the end is really a great way to keep the game from feeling like a slog. I'm sure at some point I will get to a level that tapers off and I start throwing away lots of gear but since nearly all the gear you dismantle turns to some form of currency(legendary shards for xur, weapon parts for the weapon smith) it still feels like I am being rewarded for my time. After a while in the first game trying to grind for reputation day after day felt like a chore. The only downside is I can't choose the gear I am rewarded with when I get an engram from a vender as it's RNG there but at least it doesn't take too long to gain a level.

the highest people i know who have been grinding nrearly 24/7 are in the 280s

only way to really get above 265 is from the items you get from the "milestones" or whatever they are called. anything that give you a "powerful engram" as a reward can have it go over 265. Exotic engrams will decript higher as well, those who are in the 280s are farming for engrams and infusing them into legendary gear
