i think it's fine... there were a TON of people on last night including a bunch of yahoos on the soccer field haha

farm wont be the only social area of the game in it's entirety either... i like it though and it looks cool with the giant shard in the distance

I think I just passed 240 power maybe... my armor is just a clusterf*** of nonsense that I've been trying to level out with various shaders but with mixed results.

I should be able to join in on the Nightfall. My aim has gotten significantly better since I first started on console. It's quite neat how your brain can just get used to and compensate for the inertia with the controls. I also really dig the lost sectors and how there isn't such an emphasis on doing the patrols over and over again.

You can loot lost sectors more than once but the rewards diminish each time until the weekly reset. They will offer a consistent source of potential engrams and guaranteed token if you still need to fill out some spots. I'm about at 265-267 power now depending on what gear combo I use, having finished all the story quests for each planet and getting a 280 mida multi tool. My gear is mismatched but I'm not using any shaders so it doesn't look horrible. I really like the multi tool and mini tool combination. Anyway my power is out at the moment here in FL, one of like 2,000,000 customers in the tri-county area so I won't be on for a while. Hoping to get back to it later in the week. I still don't know how to proceed though. I've reached a point where I don't think chasing public events and such is going to get me anywhere. I guess I should start running strike playlist with the loot bonus token active hoping for engrams. Not sure if there is a better way at this point. I have not done nightfall though which I probably should try getting done this weekend if power comes back up etc.

Yea I don't like the new tower either too huge with nothing in between. Should have just stayed at the farm.

I looked into it and I think Anubis is onto something, the factions will be coming so some of those areas will likely be occupied.

As for xur and legendary shards the current rumor/assumption I read was it will be expensive. Since legendary shards are pretty easy to get from reputation farming and engrams giving legendary and exotic gear, it will cost a hefty number of shards to buy gear. It's not like coins which were more rare. I just hope I have enough for one item at least by the time he comes around. I do like that they made decent to good loot easier to obtain with a few exotic weapons and armor just thrown your way as you go. It is a lot easier to ease into end game this time around for sure. I also like the fact that I don't have to actually level gear to get the perks and options. Maybe raid gear will differ but at least everything I have obtained has all the perks unlocked as soon as you get it. Speaking of raid I'm sure some of you have gotten the random heavy weapon drop that asked you to kill cabal on Nessus and after doing so tells you to "await the world eater". I heard this is possibly an exotic quest related to the raid in some way. I wonder if they will have more stuff over time that is obtained in this way rather than just relying on RNG for everything. If so I welcome that as well.

The farm seems useless after the story is finished. Some of the NPCs aren't even there and there are no replacements for them. They could decide to unlock various NPCs and place them there at some point though. Having two social spaces isn't a bad thing.

Yea, it's weird there are no replacements for cayde / ikora / zavala / gunsmith on the farm. Even a terminal to "contact" them or something... The farm is pretty useless afterwards... A quest or two after the main campaign and that's it.

I don't know where I am in the story... just finished the one with the carrier at the end that you shoot with the tank. After that I tried to participate in as many public events and strikes as I could, trying to power up but I think I'm just about at 250. I keep getting decent weapons but I've only a few exotics. I really like how you can swap things around though and considering how many shaders I have I don't see the need to not use them up. I sort of figured the lost sectors were repeatable but also that they rewards would be limited. The ones on Titan are pretty cool, bit trickier to find.

Almost everyone on patrols is level 20 now with a Sparrow so the dynamic of the game has already shifted a little bit. The loot chests do time out but I'm not sure how I feel about being able to simply drop in for the last 30 seconds of a battle and potentially score just as well as the other players... or is that scaling so that that can't happen? Everyone just sort of blasts through the strikes now also, so I'm hoping the Nightfall ones are brutally difficult and force more teamwork. I'm constantly being left behind but I love how the game feels so I always look for fights.

You definitely want to finish the story as you get a sparrow and unlock lots of other stuff to make it easier to get better gear.

You get a sparrow for hitting lvl20, not for finishing the campaign. Once you hit lvl20, talk to the lady next to cryptoarch (evergreen or something?) and she'll give you 3 bright engrams as a reward. One of them will roll a legendary sparrow.

That's guaranteed? I know you get a green sparrow for story completion. Wasn't sure if my legendary was random or what.

I think that's by design, for participating you get some potential loot. This makes people want to jump in when they happen upon one going on while they are going from place to place. I've gotten one exotic engram from the heroic public event chests. On the whole though it seems to mostly give me a token.

yea but what I'm saying is that you could, at the very least, catch the very end of the public battle and not fire a single round and still have access to the loot. when I see players taking on challenges I don't think twice about joining in to help but a few times I was extremely late and the chest popped up right as I approached haha. felt like a vulture just taking the free stuff but hey I suppose it's all fair game.

I was just wondering if those players who were there the entire battle got much better stuff? that would be more fair imo but maybe i'm just thinking too much... it happens (all the time).

So I've only been playing for 2 days. I'm lvl 9. The game seems more difficult (enemy wise) compared to D1. Also, respawns happen super fast. All I"ve done are a couple missions, a public event (heroic got a exotic engram), and been farming two spawns on the first area of earth. The public event was a walker fight on earth...Bumped to heroic (6 of us) spawned another walker and we took it down.
Any recommendations? Also, I'm on XB1 or I'd be playing with a bunch of you.

That I don't know but I assume it takes that into account somewhat when it does the "dice roll" for loot drops. I just hit 270 (power came back on while I was doing yard cleanup and I hopped online when I was done) and completed the nightfall. The nightfall was pretty fun but very hectic. There are a lot of parts you can basically skip that we had to learn as we went and being lucky on the burn modifier when I had the correct damage type loaded up.

The best way to level early on is story and public events. I hit 20 and power lv220 before I even completed the story because I farmed public events and did a few lost sectors. I did find I had to hop around from planet to planet to find an event that had people participating as I could not solo some of them at my level. Don't hesitate to farm for tokens. Hoard them and when you hit 20 you can boost power level super fast by maxing the reputation bar a couple of times.

As for difficulty I find it about the same except the enemies have a couple new tricks like the phalanx cabal guys with the glowing spot on the shield, the couple new fallen enemy types etc. that take some getting used to. Also enemies stagger differently now so followup headshots need a delay with some weapons.

final boss battle was kind of lousy imho... like it would have been cool to do it with 2 other people but it was just a lot of moving around and collecting ammo. i know the single player campaign isn't really the star of the show but I liked the all mighty mission wayyyyy better.

on to the nightfall now i suppose.

For having been through some really horrible weather and no power, you sure as hell leveled up fast. I'm barely at ~250 power.

Well, I used the xp bonus from pre-order to start. Gave me 4 hours of +25% then I got some other bonus that gave me 3x for the first 3 days so I hit 20 pretty quick and I exploited the reputation venders. I've also had luck on gear drops. I just got Lunafaction Boots(warlock exotic) from a reputation vender
