I rented this game like 2 or 3 years ago for like a week and now just purchased the triple play pack with Destiny and the Taken King for Xbox One.Now I have no idea what the heck I am doing. Thank god I didnt delete my saved game from way back when.I think I am on planet venus or something, its the greenish planet to the left of the center of the screen and I am running around setting off these beacons which makes me do these little missions like kill 20 enemies or run through this purple energy stuff emitting from the ground or collect part from fallen... I have been doing this for 5 hours now and am only level 24? Can someone please point me to what I am supposed to be doing?

Edit: NM guys figured it out... Didnt even notice the flashing purple triangles till now. I guess those are all the next mission markers.

Also we are now playing the second game which starts you back at lv1 again.

Oh thats bogus they should let you transfer over your level like mass effect does... Anyways I am almost level 29 now not bad for only 3 hours of play today I guess..

You only transfer your character design (face and race). The story kind of helps it make sense that you go back to low level and nearly all the weapons and armor are not in the new game. It's a clean slate to start from and I feel like they have a much better start this time.

Also, am I the only one getting the exact same exotics that I already have from exotic engrams? Exotic drops I get are different but every single exotic engram I get is what I already have.

Call to arms was recently patched to be a lot easier to complete. It's based off kills and I remember it used to take a good while to finish (10 games for average players). Now it feels about half that.

And yes, I seem to get a lot of repeats for my Titan helm exotics.

Today Qbah got the same armor piece 4 times in a row, a couple times getting the same thing on consecutive engrams which were redeemed back to back. Today on my Hunter I got 4 Foetracers, 3 lucky rasberry, 2 lucky pants, 2 stomp-ee5. All of which I already own and I've been trying to get Celestial Nighthawk. A lot of people on other forums claim to be searching for a particular exotic but continually getting multiples of the stuff they already have. I'm not convinced it's pure RNG. There are too many exotic weapons and armor to keep getting the same one time after time.

I don't know that I've even gotten an exotic drop, and the engrams are quite rare. Even then yes, I've gotten a few duplicates, which are occasionally better.

I seem to be stuck again at 284 drop level, not quite sure how to get past it. I guess nightfall?

Played IB this weekend, did ok. Got rank 10 but its nothing like IB on D1. Tokens galore, but not many worthwhile drops and woo woo, a shiny shader for hitting level 10. Big letdown compared to implementation on D1. Anyone else do IB this weekend?

Yeah, but its once a week for 1 item. They really need to increase the ways of levelling up. Strikes dont do it, crucible doesn't do it (at least not for me), so I'm limited to the raid which I'm not ready for or Nightfall which I'm not ready for or once a week milestone that gives 1 piece of gear that may or may not help you out depending on the slot.

Doing the world events sometimes drops exotic engrams, but to date, I've gotten 3 of the same titan gloves and the lion grenade launcher.

I'm getting more drops the second time around as a Hunter but I'm hoping that there's no shady fabricated luck in play there and that it's all by chance. I'll be playing on PC soon anyway so I probably won't care about my PS4 progress until the DLC drops.

Farming public events with a fireteam medallion gets me an average of 2 exotic engrams every 2 hours. Also you can get exotics from the planetary npc venders, lost sector chests, cayde’s weekly chests. So there are many opportunities. I just don’t seem to have luck getting the items I actually want lol.

My hunter is 305 and my warlock 304 having never done the raid at all and only 3 nightfall’s each.

I'm in a smallish clan who does not raid or do nightfall, its just a small group of people who are rarely on at the same time. Looks like I need to find another clan.

Yeah it’s worth joining a large clan just for the extra rewards.

Did you finish this? It's been on my todo list for a while now. I ended up joining a clan last night in hopes of getting it and the Raid done (I haven't done a Raid before, in hte first game I never found the time and people together at the same time to ever do one. I'm normally on in the afternoons in Arizona (which doesn't do DST so I havent a clue what the time diff is.) let me know.

It all seems incredibly random to me. Some heroic public's give me just a blue, a token, and a sad amount of glimmer. Then I'll do something else and boom exotic engram.

Same, I can stretch up to 293.

I did it as well to see what happened at 10, which wasn't anymore special than level 1. I still enjoyed it though and the gear I got going through it helped me out.

I've gotten exotic engrams from public events (normal and heroic, also heroic failures, but never from normal failures), boss chests during faction rally planet resource captures (boss spawned after 4th capture), adventure rewards (orange quests), nightfall chests, raid chests (sewers), Cayde chests and as crucible game rewards.

I've never gotten them from regular strike rewards or regular planet chests.

By far the most reliable and easiest way is to use a fireteam medallion and just do heroic events. 1-2 exotic engrams per 10 found (the other 8 being legendary or bright engrams).

Not even a different version of the item, the same one! Meanwhile the game doesn't seem to realize my boots are still 299 & 304 depending on which I use at the time and my chest armor is 304 on warlock.

I'm pretty sure items have no variations like they did in Destiny 1. The only thing that changes is the mod that comes with it. All the perks are the same on each of the same item.

e.g. Uriel's perk will have the same perks as all other Uriel's guns. The mod can change though.

No I’m not taking about that. Let’s say the sword is called “the one” and the gloves are called “mystic armlets” I got two of those, back to back. I didn’t get a different sword or gloves set. Not taking about the perks because they are static but I got the same exact item. There is more than one sword and more than one gives set for warlock lol
