Do you know about cheap RAM configuration on this board?
I am thinking to buy a pair of 512MB OCZ 3200 platinum rev 2 but they are expensive.
They cost double of the corsair value select (PC3200).
I do not know if I will overclock just now but I do not want to be anable to do so in the future...

my package arrives from NewEgg today in perfect condition. of course there was no bridge chip. now i just have to wait for the other stuff, and decide on which HSF to use...

any recommendation on HSF? it seems everyone is talking about XP90/120 and 7000/7700. I like the 7000AlCu, but i wonder if it'll interfere with the large 120mm exhause fan at the back of my Super Lanboy case. Also, does the 7000AlCu required the removal of the mobo to install? it's not worth it to remove everything just to install more rams in the future.

Yes, that Corsair will work fine (I've got it in the Ultra right now, and will put it in the SLI-D in the next few days). If you wish to overclock your chip, simply use a divider. As Zebo shows, it doesn't negatively affect performance.

Value Select is fine, unless you're very anal about numbers it's not worth it to pay 2x imo.

The nf4 SLI DR's in stock anywhere now? I ordered one from Monarch on Friday when they were marked in stock but now they tell me that they are sold out and wont get any until next month.

There is a FDD power connector and a regular molex connector on the mobo, anybody knows what they are for? do it need to plug anything to them?

also, 20 pin PSU would work on this mobo right??

that molex connector is the extra video card power thingy. bascially to help supply a bit more power for more than one vid ard like in SLI. though the ultra may need it if your doing dual cards for 4 monitors not sure what the other connector your talking about

and a 24 pin is needed

the other connector is a floppy type power connector. maybe it's for cards like some of the ATI that use floppy type power connector?

24 pin is needed?!! ppl were able to use 20 pin with no problem on ASUS A8N-SLI board... it's not possible on the DFI?? i have the Aspire ASP500W PSU, it's still quite new, i dont't want to throw it away. can i use 20->24 adapter?

can I see a pic of the area cause I dont know what your talking about unless your confusing teh fan plugs with a floppy power adapter

and DFI has told me 24 is best. Though apparently some are running 20s probably not the best idea. Also DFI told me not to use a 20-24 adapter. Iv also heard of others blowing their boards using those.

I don't have a pic now. It was shown in the "Power Connections" page in the manual (from memory). 4 things were circled, the 24 pin main power, the square 4 pin +12v, the +5v/12v molex, and the +5/12v floppy power connector.

i'll use my 20 pin PSU for now as it should provider enough power. maybe when i decide to go SLI (hopefully it'll work in the Ultra) then i'll get a new 24pin PSU

i got another question.

I've heard something about do not use the onbard sata 1 & 2 to connect sata HDD if the mobo is overclocked. is it true for the DFI board? i'm going to use sata HDD and overclock my cpu so i'm kind' concerned

Not very re-assuring, so far no one here has had a problem using a 20 pin PSU.. people blowing their boards up probably were using crappy PSUs.

Wow, 10 pages of people discussing this board but no one with any numbers yet? You guys are making me anxious!

By the way, I'm new here...have been a long-time member over at the Commport at Delphi(Maximum PC's original forum)...I got that Asus board that everyone here is pissed about and Anandtech seems to have the best discussions about it and this DFI board so I joined and wanted to say hello to everyone here. Anyone with some numbers they can put up on a DFI board, regardless of whether it's Ultra or SLI, please do so...I'm very skeptical of them being able ot hit 300 but the review here says they got it past that...let's see what the consumer can achieve!

That's great! I hope you can hit some high numbers....did you get the SLI or the Ultra...I know a bunch of people here got their Ultras, but perhaps not an SLI version. I do think these boards will do considerably better 1t but not to the extent people think they will...but you never know...and that's why I'm so excited...at the same time I'm pissed that I bought the Asus board...I'm selling it as soon as I can get the DFI board...pending what you guys have to say about it.

I got a Ultra. No need for SLI so didnt bother trying to find one Iv got the same type of memory you do (DDr500 in my case) so im interested to see how it does Though when I get around to actually overclocking is a different story. First new rig in years so no need to hit the numbers right off

Well let's hope you and everyone else hit the "numbers"
I'd just like to hit 275-280 1T...I doubt that will ever happen wit hthe Asus board.

Got my Ultra today. Still waiting on psu & had to order a metal cpu backplate for the monster Alpha. No sli bridge. Won't be ocing right away. Got a SATA Raptor, is that a prob for overclocking? Just plan on mild to moderate nothing too extreme.

I have had zero problems running my two 74gb raptors in RAID-0 on the Asus SLI board...my guess would be that you shouldn't have any problems either...but with the onslaught of HD detection problems going on, I can't say for sure that your HD will work flawlessly...although it is worth mentioning, most problems seem to be with Maxtor DM10s

DAMN

Its all set up and sitting there... glinting in the fluro light of my room, mocking me.

I counted up the pins on the Thermaltake 400w PSU that came with my new Tsunami and I SWEAR THERE WERE 24... but now there are only 20.
*sigh*

Finally all the parts are here and i cant do jack.
Im a go try and see if i can get it to POST using the 20 in the 24.

Do you think itll be ok running this with a 400W 20pin? I only have the 1 6600, a 160 WD and a Pioneer109 as well as 3200 Athlon...?

You might, you might not...DFI doesn't have a "EZ-plug" for SLI...but your not using it anyway, so you might get away with it....either way, I'd buy a 24 pin PSU...I'm about to as well...most likely the PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI edition.
