I'm hoping this random quest generation system they're talking about will give the game a lot more replay value. The ultimate goal will always be the same, but if there are always new side quests you have to (or get to) accomplish first, that could really add something. Randomized dungeons were always a cool feature, but the impact was negligible at best due to environments looking the same, only forcing you to turn right instead of left.

*reinstalls D2 and LOD*

Holy Crap....... D3 has been in development for about 4 years?
I like how the drops are going to be per player..... no more fighting over drops!

I'm currently watching the Q & A vids with the D3 Developers (5parts/50min total) on You Tube
Videos

EDIT--- I think there are 6 parts to the video, but the guy hasn't posted the last one yet.

It can be a time sink if you allow it to be. Because the game is so gear focused, you can certainly spend 300% more time improving your gear that last 10%. If you play it more casually you probably won't care as much for that last rare/random drop to complete that last item. The other grind aspect was leveling, which did become a grind at the really high levels, but it never felt as bad as an MMO.

Really? That is cool. I was always the best item-picker-upper though, sometimes I let others get stuff though, when the guilty feelings settled in

This is where trading will come in.... Here's one for you, and one for you....... OH, and you don't get one
They're also saying the inventory system will be improved and it'll be easier to swap items between your characters.

I'm really glad I skipped WoW and waited for D3. It was tough to resist, but that $15./mth did it for me! Especially when I played D2 for 5years free.

I HOPE they announce the release of D3 this year, and that they didn't drop the Druid for the Witch Doctor@!!@$!@%#! :Q

I think two things I want from D3: 1) Online/offline characters are the same... (so playing offline isn't completely worthless) and 2) Characters stay even if you havent logged into Battlenet in a month. I'm not a teenager with no responsibilities except school so there are times that I don't play games... plus, I like many types of games, so I often take breaks from some.

Hmm, while in a way I think it's good that they don't have group loot to fight over, at the same time, I think it might actually hurt my desire to play other characters. The only reason I even tried some of the other ones in D2 was because of loot I'd find and work my way to be able to use. Unless they make it so items for other classes drop for you as well. If they do, I hope they allow you to have some sort of personal lobby area so you can move items between characters.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they didn't mean you get personal drops intended for your class, but rather personal drops in general, following the model used by some other recent multiplayer rpgs. It should feel indistinguishable from item drops in D2 with the exception that no one picks up what you see.

They also stated in the developer panel that they wanted to make transferring items to your own characters much easier. They stated that the whole premise of making a game, dropping an item, switching chars and running back to the game was terrible and they wanted to do much better. They wouldn't release any details, but a shared stash is a semi-common feature and I think they're probably going to go in that direction.

Listening to the Rob Pardo Interview ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BB-nVF2UcdE )
For online multiplayer, there will be traditional B.Net realms (North America, Europe, Asia, etc.) instead of smaller shards like WoW.

Heh, Blizzard must be doing something right. Between Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, and the WoW expansion they've got all 5 of the "scrolling "hot news" (or whatever it's called) spots on Gamespot's website.

I know it wasn't directed at me, but I'm 30 and never played Diablo, Diablo 2 or Starcraft. I've been playing games since 1983-1984.

Love it baby, except the Witch doc in D3 look so weak, it's a caster who has to get within melee range to cast those femine spells which is his bread and butter spell. If anyone noticed its health, it kept on dropping and the demo person kept potioning to keep him alive. This isn't a good sign for the qitch doc. But then again it's probably just going to be like Nero, but at least nero's summoned guys are numerous and packs a real punch so he didn't have to go near an enermy. Anyhow, still early to say for sure, they might add something that will change this char when the game release. But the demo makes him real weak looking.

Oh... My... God. I am excited. O_O I was deeply in love with Diablo one when I was younger and Diablo II I played non-stop. (Finally had to quit because it was so time consuming, gave away my keys and characters on a public forum so I couldn't use them)

I was told that the team working on this is not the original diablo/diablo2 team. Is this true?

It is true that many of the members (including the founding members) of the teams that made Diablo 1 and 2 have left Blizzard. The strange thing is that the rumor is that they left because they did not want to be forced to keep making Diablo, and yet it seems like they went and made Diablo like games (Hellgate London, Guild Wars, and one or two others that I forget). I wonder what game we would have ended up with had they stayed.

There also seemed to have been a feeling that Diablo 3 would likely suck because of them leaving. Strangely, I think it might end up better, as the people working on it now seem to be huge fans, and I think that will actually make the game better. Of course we'll see with the final product, but I'm definitely feeling optimistic about it.

even though hellgate was a sort of spiritual successor to diablo... there was so much potential, but not enough realization of that.

frankly, i think blizzard will keep to diablo and make diablo3 kick lots of ass

Yes, but it was announced just recently that Blizzard has been in development w/D3 for about 4 years now. So, some of them must've worked on it.

I had a PS1 when Diablo and Starcraft were released. For Diablo 2, I had a PC and PS2. It didn't register for me as I hadn't played the original and was busy playing other stuff.
