While I do not disagree with you in terms of the nerd rage stuff, it is worth noting that out of all the game devs out there Blizz is more willing to scrap huge portions of projects if they believe that there is a better direction to take. They preserve quality like none other and are willing to sacrifice the time to do so because they have proven that their quality and reputation is what brings in the big bucks. This is also why they tend to take a very long time to release titles and content.

Now, with that said, I do not expect them to change the game to the whole "light aura" thing in everywhere you go. I am sure the darker hellish stuff exists in many places which will be very appealing to lovers of classic Diablo.

I joined the diablofans website the other day, there was a poll "will you buy the game with graphics as it is." As much as people complain there were like 290 yes votes and 4 no votes, and I'd put my money that the no's are just being stubborn. Fanboy's like them/I would buy it no matter what the graphics look like.

Honestly I'd like the characters to be more realistic but as it stands I'd buy it in half a heartbeat.

And laff at the jump in Diablo 2 sales!

I also posted in the HD forum that you can get Diablo II + LoD keys for $4.91 and then do a digital download of the CDs. Check out FW or SD forums for more details. Hopefully Blizzard won't take more than a year to release Diii.

Well, more likely than not, D3 won't be out till 2010.

My reason for that is WoW's Lich king expansion comes out Nov this year and then SC2 probably sometime next year. I don't see Blizzard releasing any of those 3 titles together as they would want to milk all the $ they could get.

I could have read somewhere that they were going make a new battle.net for this so I'm assuming it will be free online play just like D2/WC3/SC is.

yes, battle.net will be getting what sounds like a complete overhaul.

That's good to know. I remember back in the day trying to play SC w/ my friends and sometimes we just could not connect to each other's games on b.net. Had to use those server selector programs....i forgot what they were called.

A few years ago I downloaded and played the Diablo 2 demo, and thought it was ok. Later I bought and played Dungeon Siege and I thought it was an awsome game and knowing it was a Diablo clone I went and bought the Diablo battlechest. I installed and loaded up Diablo, but having already seen the better graphics and gameplay in Diablo 2 and the MUCH better graphics in Dungeon Siege, I quickly got board and went over to play Diablo 2 all the way through (yet I haven't installed or played Lord of Destruction yet). I loved Diablo 2, though as far as gameplay I think I liked Dungeon Siege better, despite the fact that it basically has no story at all.

The other day having been hyped up by Diablo 3 footage I decided to go back and play through Diablo, after finding out that the entire game takes place in the different levels of just a single dungeon, I was dissappointed. The random level generation also kind of makes the dungeons rather boring. However, I have played through it for about 3 or 4 hours now and I find it very addictive still.

However Dungeon Siege and Diablo 2 are still much better games in my eyes. I can't wait to load up Titan Quest and Sacred, but Diablo 3 just looks awsome to me....so now begins the 2-3 year wait.

The one thing I hope Diablo 3 fixes is the Automap. I usually keep the automap up all the time in Diablo and Diablo 2, but it obscures the graphics, I would like a map that is either up in the corner, or has its own screen.

Diablo II had an option to make it a minimap in on the side of screen.

How do you enable that option? I've been playing Diablo for 8 years and I never knew about it

Diablo III is going to be a pretty awesome game, the bad thing is, it's probably still 2-3 and possibly even 4 years away, it's just the Blizzard way of doing things.

I don't wish it any other way though, without the insanely long development cycles Blizzard titles wouldn't be the legendary games they ALWAYS are.

IIRC, it's in one of the options settings if you go through the in-game on-screen menu. This was also with LoD installed. Maybe I'm misremembering things, but I'm almost certain the option is there. I'll be able to confirm it in a few days (when my discs from home arrive).

i think Diablo1 is a better game than Diablo2. The atmosphere is absolutely superb. However, D2 has way more replayability. I just want D3 to merge these two games.. that will be amazing.

Diablo 1 had an unbeatable atmosphere. That music was so haunting. D2 definitely had the replayability factor, but both games were ruined by all the hacks and cheating. I doubt they will recapture the atmosphere again, games now just tend to be cartoonish, like anime. WOW looks like a Saturday morning kids show.

well I watched the videos of the dev team and I really truly think that was we have is WowOblo.
I hoped and prayed that we would have an updated D1 D2 LOD with better graphics and even more skills.
What I saw was the old chrs ONLY 2 have been known so far.(thats all they have) and it AINT diablo. its single player wow in dungeons.

Diablo was tons of mobs and classes that did mages with aoe, WW barbs, a million arrow zons.

this looks just like a wow chr that they are trying to make into a diablo chr.
ONLY 2 chrs are being worked on and already gone is the necro, replaced with a shaman/death knight.

yep in 2010 when its released it will be wowoblo. and only $89.99...oh yea and $25 a month

umm...the game was just revealed a week ago...if you have ever followed Blizzard's development cycles, you would know that they reveal only a few characters at a time..they did this with Warcraft 3. You can rest assured that there will not be only 2 character classes in Diablo 3.

I can't believe people are whining so much when only a tiny portion of the game has even been revealed.

same thing is happening with SC2, people are allready bitching about balance this and overpowered that and the game isnt even out
