By the time this game is released DX 11 will be out...

Also I see no mention of DX10.1 or Havok on their website. Their FAQ plainly states, they are using a custom physics engine, so either they modified Havock a great deal, or they are using their own.

Directly quoting from the game features:
"Rain Hell on your enemies wielding the interactive environment as a weapon: lay cunning traps, turn destructible objects against your foes, and use environmental obstacles to your advantage - all powered by the Havoc physics system."

Didnt see that, it still looks be be a custom version of Havoc.

Most games have been using Havok for ages, it was pretty much the only option for Studios to license if they didnt want to create their own. Aegia/PhysX/Nvidia have given developers another option. PhysX is superior to Havok, but people dont like it becuase it required seperate hardware/now Nvidia based graphics cards.

Ultimately, though, now that Intel owns Havok and Nvidia owns PhysX, I see DirectX 11 having built in physics. I invision it as a combonation of Havok and PhysX.

Only 5 classes is what kind of jumped out at me the most. Oh that and the part where the Barbarian smashes that wall in the video and it kills a group of zombies.

Awesome? That's a bit of a stretch.

Yeah.. really. Awesome gameplay? It's a simple hack n' slash. Not saying that game won't be good, but I can't see anyone raving about the gameplay.

Just as I thought, Tyreal is coming back, and this time I'm sure he won't be there to help us... or at least not honestly (I.E similarly to the Bioshock storyline), especially considering what happened to Izual in Diablo II, fallen angels for the win. Time will tell however, somehow I do hope I'm wrong, Tyreal in D2 sounded and looked just epic, I wouldn't like it if he was against us poor mortals...

Tyrael is a wimp, he couldn't fight Diablo even when he was at his weakened form..

Anyway, I'm still trying to download the gameplay HD video (promised myself I wouldn't watch it on Youtube - this is f*ing Diablo 3 after all). But I did look at the abilities videos for each class, and it feels awesome.

The other two candidates would be Akara or Anya (or it could be an unknown character). Going by the age and voice Akara is probably too old.

Man, I can't wait. Diablo was the first 'real' PC game I ever played (and one of the first Windows games I bought. I remember having a blazing fast Pentium 133, while the game req'd a P90. It was also my first experience ripping a CD so I didn't have to put the disc in the drive when I wanted to play ). It's still one of my favorite games of all time. So many great memories.

I would guess. Its definitely is not cain's. Cain must be hitting 80+

Tyreal is a wimp? You've got to be kidding.

You have to understand (and you probably don't) that Tyreal is (or was, by now) an Archangel, that means that he has absolutely no rights to interfere with the affairs of Sanctuary and the mortals, he's not even supposed to make himself known to the heroes or mortals at all. His intervention wasn't meant to actually fight the Prime Evils themselves, but to help save time for mortals to prepare for a better defense against their upcoming hellish forces, not to mention to help Marius get away from the Tomb of Tal-Rasha alive.

And Tyreal is not a "God", he's just an Archangel, he's not meant nor supposed to have the actual power to face against any of the Prime Evils, for they themselves aren't just some random creature from Hell but actual Prime Evils, what do you expect Tyreal to do alone against Baal, Diablo or Mephisto? He might have been able to take on Lesser Evils such as Andariel, Duriel or Lilith (Andariel's Mother), but that would highly surprise me. Also note that from what I read of the Diablo cannon, any Archangel "entering" the mortal realm will see his powers greatly reduced, in the same manner that the Prime Evils' powers are reduced also on the mortal realm, which in turn is the exact reason why Baal managed to AVOID a direct fight against the three Guardians of Mount Arreat before entering the Worldstone Keep. You should remember that Nilhatak, the "mage" (can't remember his exact title) of the Barbarians of Arreat formed a "pact" with Baal so that he could allow him (Baal) to get passed the Guardians without fighting them or else he might have died in his mortal form.

Tyreal just like Izual were (or still are, although Izual's case is done since Diablo II's Act IV) generals at the command of grand armies of Heaven during the great war against them and Hell. Izual got captured and his army destroyed, and Mephisto corrupted him so him and his two brothers would force Izual to co-operate with them and give them information and secrets of Heaven for a later invasion. Tyreal never succeeded to rescue Izual, nor succeeded attacking any of the Three Prime Evils during that war, so if Tyreal couldn't manage anything under his best form (out of the mortal realm) with an army with him I don't see what he can do alone in the mortal realm.

Some people here need to play Diablo II again and actually read the manual that came with the original (not the expansion). Just read every page, and then read and listen to what Tyreal says, what Izual says and what Dekard Cain says, and you'll better understand what is at stake in Diablo III.

Yeah and didn't he make some offhanded remark about milk maidens or something (I know it wasn't milk maidens, but it was something along those lines, hand maids, something I dunno heh) towards the end of the gameplay video?

Summarized transcript from the D3 gameplay panel: http://pc.ign.com/articles/885/885126p1.html

-Potions are still in the game but not as core an element
I wonder if you can still put them on your hotbar? Might move to system like WoW where pots are on cooldown, who knows.

-Says the story isn't going to be forced in front of your face
Likely a reaction to how D2 evolved over the years. People liked the story initially but later they just want to fight monsters and have fun, not sit through cut scenes/dialog.

-When questioned about group size, Blizz stated "once you get more than four or five people onscreen, things get kind of chaotic"
Possible "soft cap" of 4-5 (most effective groups at that size) but probably same or larger player cap then D2 is my guess

-No grid inventory, but no final inv size settled upon
You can see this in the gameplay video, each item takes up one box. Not sure how i like this. As people have pointed out in other forums, some of the charm is seeing the full item graphic. Hopefully they'll still have the art appear when you hover over the items

-They haven't figured out how many classes will be in yet
Looks like the 5 total classes stated on the D3 page isn't final. More speculation on this later

-Dev comments indicate possibility of respeccing skills
A very nice change from a character freedom perspective, wonder if that will hurt the longevity at all. No need to replay earlier levels with the same class.

-Witch doctor is not the evolved version of D2's necro
Does this mean the necro is one of the classes? Who knows.

-No items that drop for groups only (ie there's no WoW style raids), all items that drop for groups can drop for single players
Good, glad they're keeping important gameplay aspects separate from other genres/franchises

-Does not require DX10, should be very scalable to a range of systems
If that's the case I imagine it should run perfectly fine on modern day hardware

-Difficult to support mods/map editors
This probably means mods will be unlikely or only unofficially supported

I don't understand. You say I'm wrong, then you proceed to explain how Tyrael can't beat the Prime Evils, which is exactly what I said
When I said wimp, I didn't mean he's weak, I meant that he isn't any more of a challenge then the prime evils. Unless he somehow gains power after being corrupted..
