I'm on Hell - Act I. Monk is absurdly easy to play, so far at least. I haven't encountered anything up to this point that I would really consider challenging, and I see myself as a fairly casual gamer.

Played some 4-player earlier today for a couple of hours. Such a chaotic shitfest of carnage and death. Good times.

PS: got a legendary out of a barrel. SMASH THOSE BARRELS, PEOPLE!

Inferno difficulty is kinda ridiculous, even with like 50% resists and 65% phys reduction get 1-2 shot, seems the best way to play is with silly gimmicks like wiz force armor and no vitality items.

I also find it disappointing that the best way to play inferno seems to be solo

If you have money - Check the AH!

Someone gave tips to check out the AH and get good deals on gear.
I had 50.000+/- g after i bought two stash slots - and really no idea what to use it for.

My gear was...let's put it that way...utter shiate. At lvl 21, some pieces i had were utter crap even if i had some rare pieces

In the beginning of Act III, in co-op..i was afraid to even go down the steps because my Wizard was owned left and right. It was a nightmare.

So i went in the AH and was AMAZED about the pieces there, so i bought me a whole bunch of stuff, not all "cheap"...but a few bargains like an insane rare chest piece and other rare pieces for wizards w/ I+V on them.

To make the story short, my damage now is fricking INSANE and i can carry someone 7+ lvls higher than me in co-op, my health 3x as much as i had with the shiate gear....i could solo the whole place now.

TOTALLY WORTH IT

If you put rare pieces in the AH at "reasonable" prices (eg. 3000-5000?), don't know..they sell like hotcakes. So even if i spent a ****load on the gear now i also made a ton because i sold the other pieces.

Do not make the mistake i did and try to progress with crap gear, if ALL/MOST of your pieces are tuned for your class, about your level and gemmed properly, it's a HELL of a difference. I know, stating the obvious....

Gems are also really, really cheap...and there is no shortage whatsoever on gold drops and rare drops in that game. Last short run in Act III i got TONS of rares again and plenty gold.

Wiz, lvl 27 now..and the game is now really amazing, new spells, arcane hydra etc...and seeing that you can get (and sell!!) really good gear in the AH easily has really hyped me up!

So...if you have ignored the AH as i did...think again...

Exactly this. The ridiculous difficulty of Inferno pigeonholes everyone to specific inferno build which totally goes against the whole philosophy of customization as what promised before release. That's so stupid I'm loss at words.

I'm pretty sure the RMAH experiment is gonna tank so hard because of this. People in Diablo 2 bought high-end runewords/unique gear with cash so they can breeze through the highest difficulty, not "just to barely survive and run away from impossible elites."

ok here's a dumb question....htf do you get resistances? i don't think i've seen a single item with a resistance modifier drop yet.

damn poison attacks always get me (bees in act2, poison fallen that explode)

I got my WD up to lvl 53 and up to act 1 on hell difficulty. The first 20 levels or so really suck for the WD. After that you can get a socketed weapon and your golem, and things get pretty easy. With some decent gear, regular and nightmare difficulties were easy. Unforntunately Hell lvl is starting to kick my ass. The special guys with invulnerable minions are a huge PITA, since the minions always seem to get in the way. I had one of those, coupled with that gay ass "make walls" ability and it was very very annoying.

I eventually had to take a break when I met a group of blue guys with the "super fast" ability and the connecting flame between them. No matter what I did, they would just run around me and melt my face. I might have to spend some time grinding a few more levels so I can get a better weapon to double my dps. Should make things go a little easier.

intelligence (hover over it in your stats and you'll see it say that), and some weapons/armor do have resistances associated with them

p.s. if you don't know about "elective mode" in gameplay settings look it up.

As a barbarian, I use:
-frenzy (single target)
-cleave (multiple targets)
-hammer of ancients (used whenever I have fury, I spam it)
-whirl wind (when there are tons of targets to hit)
-furious charge (my starting move, the rune i use with it is the one that reduces recharge time depending on how many targets I hit)
-ground stomp (right after a charge)

For Passive Skills:
-ruthless
-weapon master
-brawler

I also use a 2 handed axe with a ton of vitality on it (along with strength and intelligence), general stats as of today (LEVEL 45):
-health is around 10,200
-all my resistences are around 25
-dps around 2200
-crit at 21.5%
-crit damage at +136% (usually crit around 6500 on average with a high of 7900)
-attack speed is around 1.1

My build is definitely very offensive oriented, but so far, it hasn't been an issue (i'm on nightmare act 3). 90% of the time I play in a group with a bunch of buddies

resistance gear starts dropping in nightmare difficulty and is seen more often after that. I think the start is lvl 30-35ish gear.

I've seen them spawn during boss fights. Barbarians even have a passive to make them spawn more often and heal for more. I don't prioritize that stat though, but if it's on a piece of gear that has other good stats, I won't forgo using it.

I usually get dexterity, vitality, life steal, and/or weapon damage.

I was working an approach close to yours and the post above yours.
THEN I FOUND a +7 to life for each HIT.
WHAT? That was a pleasant surprise. Up till then it was +4 to life for kill. + 2EXP..... Per hit. Etc. This was like Christmas for this old man LOL.

I didnt play 1 or 2 a lot. Really enjoying this game but I need to stop making new toons. I have 5 and we are all in act 1. I know act one like the back of my hand. PLUS my son told me to unlock the next level you have to beat the game on the prior level. YIKES. Focus must I. Complete a normal game. FOOOOOOOCUS LOL.

Part of me feels like the AH is cheating. When I played WOW we called it "twinking". Get my shawl and cane LOL. I hate seeing a toon, low level using stuff you KNOW he didnt earn or forge it.
It appears I need to LOSE that feeling.

to kill some time we powerleveled new classes from 1-30 last night in about 4 hours, good times, feels good to be able to kill things again LOL

so i was bored to death during the beta... but now the game started to catch up and now im officially addicted to it

got a lvl ~25 wizard and the minibosses around the map can give me some trouble sometimes, about to finish act 2

and i started a witch doctor too, it started being great but now the zombie dogs are starting to suck SO BAD

anyway... these type of games get better and better the more level you have, and this one is no exception

He was a bitch to solo in my lvl 50 WD on nightmare. Took about 3 tries. I had to change out most of my spells and passives to stuff I normally dont use. The fight probably takes a good 5 minutes, and one mistake can easily cost you. I would think it would almost be easier in a group, since you can ressurect your friends and he can really only own one of you at a time. Worst part is, after those deaths and 5 minutes of bullshit, not a single gold drop. I can find better items spending 5 minutes blowing up barrels.

also i still have way to much crap, i think i may just start giving gear away to random people , i have pages and pages of rares and cant sell them fast enough, even listing them at 3-5k on the AH

Yeah it seems like the AH is starting to slow down as people get the gear they want. Rares aren't going to sell anymore just on the virtue of being a yellow item. They need to be actually good ones.

Enjoying it quite a bit though I do miss a few things about D2. They did a really good job of kind of 'streamlining' the game but along the way I feel like it did lose a little bit of it's gritty appeal along the way.

It's definitely gotten me more interested in the Diablo lore though, whereas I pretty much powergamed the first two.

Getting through act 1 on hell is considerably more difficult but also a hell of a lot more fun. I'm slowly figuring out how to handle elite packs with 3-4 abilities without dying, so far. The damage I take is absurd though. As a barb I have almost every health recovery option between bloodlust and my weapon I'm at over 5% vamp and still constantly flashing red when I get a pack of 3-4 mobs. I manage to survive but most of the time it's just barely...
