I haven't friended anyone yet, hopefully that stops me from getting compromised. Maybe they are using a client side hack to get account info or install a key logger after a multiplayer session.

I honestly dont know how all these people are getting accounts supposedly "hacked" but, it does seem odd. There are tons of complaints about it on the bnet forums. I dont know. It just seems odd and unlikely to me that there is some exploit in the game to somehow gain access to peoples accounts. I would guess its people getting keylogged on certain sites or something. I dont know though.

If there truely is some way to get into peoples accounts, thats somewhat scary as when the real money auction house opens, it will be all about money, greed and items which would just magnify the problem. Then it could essentially end up being real money being stolen.

I also have not "friended" anyone yet.

This same exact thing has been happening in WoW for years, it just comes with the territory. It's always been questioned how so many accounts get hacked but nobody really ever knows, whether it be key loggers, easy passwords, shared account passwords, phishing, social engineering, whatever.

My opinion is that if there is an obvious way to spoof accounts and log in as others, or some other type of exploit that makes it easy, it will be patched before the RMAH released. If the RMAH is released, then Blizzard is feeling pretty good about their security.

The thing that separates these "hacks" from WoW's is, even people with authentictors have gotten hacked in D3

I had not friended anyone either, and played probably 80% 'single player'. Some things that have occurred to me are that I had not changed my Bnet password for a while so some hacker could have obtained it prior to the release.

My own computer is clean, and I keep it updated. But, supposing it is some undetected keylogger, then what kind of cooky hacker goes through all that trouble just to compromise a game account and steal digital goods that are as yet unvalued?

My tinfoil hat theory is the only hackers cooky enough to do that (be it keyloggers, or session hijacks, brute force, or whatever) are WoW gold farming groups speculating a lucrative Diablo 3 RMAH debut.

I'm also a new battlenet account. Maybe the hackers have been sitting on these accounts since WoW and we're just waiting for D3 to go live before actually using them.

Unless there's a new update, Blizzard stated that there has been no confirmed compromise of accounts with authenticators attached at the time of the compromise.

It's true that some people have claimed that their accounts were compromised and they have authenticators attached, but it turns out they attached their authenticators after their accounts were compromised.

Well, not to spread rumors or anything, but some people on bnet have claimed the hacking issue is from being on bnet actually. I guess it has to do with the session id info or something. Its happening to people with authenticators because its happening after they are logged in, not before. What they said on the forums was to not play in any public games with anyone you dont know because they can exploit some bug with the session id or something to gain access to accounts without needing a password. Dont know if any of this is true of course but...

I didnt really want to say this on a public forum just in case this is how they are exploiting it but...

Nope, I was suggesting a small change that would benefit the economy. It will keep things moving on the gold AH.

When the RMAH goes live it will be interesting to see how the gold AH does.

Since you will be able to sell and buy gold for real money, the gold auction house will remain alive and well and handle all transactions for small items worth less than a few dollars, since the blizzard cash AH cut gets excessive at those values.

Wait you will be able to buy gold? If you choose to sell your gold, I'm assuming it goes into a large pool where buyers will be able to buy gold at a set price.

If that's the case.. wouldn't everyone get paid?

You will probably put up however much gold you want at what price per unit possibly.

There's always been a report here and there that says somebody with an authenticator got hacked, but in all of my time playing WoW, I honestly don't think it's ever been confirmed.

In other news, finally just beat the game. Was a hair shy of level 33 and put right at 22 hours into the game. Act IV was surprisingly short, which was a welcome relief since I was tired of dungeon after dungeon.

I did die on the last boss once, but that was mainly to me constantly forgetting to spawn my gargantuan and dogs. If they don't tank for me, I have a lot of problems staying alive. I almost had him down when I died but my pets and potions were on cooldown and I had already used both health pools. Went back at him again and didn't have any problems once I knew what he was going to throw at me.

welp... just beat the skeleton king on my first run through with my trial. It was easy. too easy. Even for normal it was easy. but then i guess the Monk is pretty strong. It was entertaining. Loot was disappointing. Lots of the same sword and tons of bows. Armor was meh as well.

Dont know if i want to toss down $60 for this though. 2 mechwarrior games loom on the horizon and they're free...

Normal difficulty itself is very easy, I died 3 times total I think during it. Nightmare wasn't much harder, died a total of 5 times. At least Hell things got more difficult, well the champion/elite packs (the rest of the stuff is easy still) and even they aren't that bad if you don't get sucky combo's of abilities they can have.

I'm in Act 2 of Hell and still cruising along rather well. I've died more in Hell then I did in both the previous difficulties thanks to some ridiculous combos that champions got.

Man, the loot in D3 sucks ass

Just doesn't feel right. And what's up with getting items way below your level, I don't get that shit!

I would of been fine with the exact same Diablo 2 game with a touch up in the graphics and self loot without the whole skill, stat system change. Items don't have that added flavor, feels too plain. I'm probably just not a fan of the whole DPS scaling instead having flat damage and many customizations with stats added from the items.

Am I the only one who feels this way? Ugh just disappointed in the loot...just not feeling it!

No, the loot system is horrid. I'm lucky if I get an item that is the level I actually am. I have never gotten a single item that was higher level than me either. As it is, I've seen blues at the same level that blow away legendaries, that is just wrong on so many freaking levels. There is no cool effects on the loot, it is soooo blah.

The loot system in this game feels like they tried to copy Borderlands system, have 20837823209290348234 different items by having it all randomized. The thing is, with Borderlands, there wasn't a bunch of different stats to mix up so finding a new weapon for your character wasn't very difficult. In D3 they try to make it so each stat has some effect on your character, but in reality no Wizard (for ex) is going to be like, oh awesome this staff has str instead of more int or vit!

Yeah im with you on that 100%. Bows with INT. Cmon, WTF is that! Bower INT build, really?! Hahaha . They took something special that diablo series had into some bullshit dps scaling trash!
I know there are some games you can build a bow char into INT but that crap don't work in this game though.

Okay i'm done with my rant now

I think part of the problem is that so many of the modifiers are underpowered. Really all that matters is damage/primary stat, vitality, damage, and resistances.

Loot in D2 was a lot more "fun". I'm disliking the loot right now - all upgrades come from the AH (from OTHER people who play further ahead of me) which I consider as broken gameplay.

I'd be happy if someone could educate me on some basics
My monk plows through everything, the barb also (he's just low level).
However, the Demon Hunter and Wizard - I LOVED my bowazon and like any ranged "artillery" class, but does their gameplay consist only of kiting, kiting and more kiting? My lowbie wizard seems to have NO vitality at all, a couple of hits and he's dead. In D2 a sorc was fragile but could take a few hits.

I've only played a DH (lvl 55 atm) but I can tell you, you can take some hits, but you are built to keep distance from stuff. Our abilities are to keep distance by slowing/rooting and doing more damage from afar. So yes, you'll be back pedaling a lot as a DH. I get lazy for a lot of monsters and just take the hits because they are going to die in a moment anyways, but in the higher difficulties this isn't really an option anymore.
