AH is fine right now, but intermittently through the day it goes dead.

I've got a lvl 26 monk right now, just entered Act 3. He's plenty capable, but I'm not sure how much fun I'm having with him.

What do you guys think is the most "fun" character? I like doing a lot of damage, and don't mind being somewhat fragile if the trade off in power is well balanced, and if kiting is reasonably manageable. Basically I don't mind having to work harder to stay alive, as long as I'm killing faster (and feeling more powerful) as a result.

Demon hunter is loads of fun and can pump out some nice dps. Though, my friends witch doctor seems to do even more damage with less gear

new annoyance: mobs that feel like they need to kite me, even if all they do is keep running around and not attacking me at all.

I've stopped chasing them, I figure they'll come back when they're ready.

DH is pretty darn easy in hell, fear, multishot, trap, vault

I believed the fear shot got patched from 60% to 40%. I basically stopped playing my barb since DH is just a tad bit OP

I'm 0-25 on Inferno Belial.

Either get in games with people with sub 400 dps weapons, or just get owned by the ridiculousness of the poison damage. Four players with 1k dps weapons barely made it to phase 3 a few times, and the poison pools he summons wasted us.

Ok, so this is going to sound a little crazy, but I have to ask because now I'm very curious. I started a new Monk yesterday and was playing it a bit this morning before going into work. I got to the point where I helped the blacksmith, Haedrig, kill his diseased wife. After this, the gate opens to the north and you head up towards the cemetery.

In the randomly generated area between Tristam and the cemetery, I was just running through and killing whatever I could. I had ran over to the left side, about halfway up and after killing the last zombie in that area, I noticed something run up to the edge of the play area from off-screen. It looked like a person hiding in the bushes watching me. I couldn't target it or interact in any way. I sat and looked at it for a couple of seconds and then held down the shift key and threw a punch its way. The thing ran back off-screen.

I really wish I would've thought to open my inventory to zoom in on my character and then took a screenshot, but I didn't consider it until the thing was gone. Anybody heard of this? Maybe part of the secret level?

The secret level is in act 1, and it's been discovered, so it's no mystery I don't know about what you saw, though

I didn't even play the game last night, I basically mfed in the auction house for a couple hours...

diablo end game is finding loot. the fun is gone when you can do it easier/better in the auction house. I think the gold AH was a bad idea

This is exactly the same as Diablo 2, so what's the complaint?

Never finished or got that deep into 2...... Passed it to my son at the time.

Well, at least that explains the logic... And thanks to the earlier post about the porting.

This morning, armed with this new knowledge. I let go of my "I cant give loot I get with my DH to my lowly Wiz..."

Oh yes I can... Act 1 and 2 the 5th time through on normal (5 toons) is boring..
My wiz is strolling through the park in act 1. I may sawp her to HC.

Question.
So, should I only have ONE toon be a blacksmith? Why waste all that coin training and more coin crafting if I can put stuff in my stash? BTW, I SWEAR the RNG hates me lol. SAME traits 3 boots in a row.

the blacksmith and jeweler are like your stash and gold....shared across toons.

Crafting is persistent across all characters, or rather it's account-wide. So if you train it on one character it trains it on 'all of them'.

I really wish I would've thought to open my inventory to zoom in on my character and then took a screenshot, but I didn't consider it until the thing was gone. Anybody heard of this? Maybe part of the secret level?

You can manually zoom in with the Z key as well. But I've not heard of that, it could just be part of the ambience maybe; like in act 3 you see those winged demons picking up soldiers all over the place and walls crumbling and such.

Also WRT to the elemental damage vs physical damage on weapons, I had a good chance to test it last night.

I had two of the same two-handed swords (yatagans I think) and one was just a blue weapon with +% damage on it so it was all physical. The other was a rare with no damage mods except for a big chunk of fire damage. The fire sword was something like 440 DPS, the physical sword something like 420, so close enough.

Simply put, the weapon with the higher DPS gave me more DPS on my sheet. The elemental sword resulted in my DPS output being something around 200 higher despite being largely elemental damage.

So in short, I don't believe non-physical damage matters in terms of raw DPS.

Thanks for testing it  Interesting that it doesn't matter, good to know!

The one bad thing about all the randomness with level generation, is there is no I'll just play for 5 more minutes feeling. Been fairly busy last 2 months with minimal computer time, and before starting the infernal grind there just isn't any reason to sit and continue past a checkpoint unless you know you'll be playing until the next one. I do have my collector ed box now though so may insert that key this weekend to see what it gives. Funny thing was that when walking through walmart which at the time was out of any version of diablo, they still had 3 star c craft collector boxes.

yeah, this part does suck. sometimes i just leave myself logged in, go do whatever for a few hours and come back to finish because i don't want to or don't have the time to get to the next checkpoint. most of the time it's fine but i have been kicked out a few times and ended up losing everything anyway.

heya sniper, they made a sticky for people who want guest passes. you might want to post there as well, but sadly, i think a lot of people got digital versions and therefore dont have guest passes to give out. maybe they will add something like they do for wow where you can give guest passes through bnet.

thanks, must have overlooked it. I didn't even think about the digital version which I am sure most bought.

Was reading and found this post to be worthwhile. The idea of "effective health" isn't really new to anyone who played WoW (or tanked WoW at least) but the poster does a good job of explaining it in D3 terms and anyone having difficulty surviving may find some useful information.

Also I wasn't aware of this explicitly, but evidently in terms of 'what they do', armor = resist all. They both reduce damage from all sources, however they do scale differently, but I was not aware that both their effects were 'universal'.

I'm finding the Monk's summoned Ally to be what a "class pet" should be. He does decent damage and acts as an extra tank.
Don't know what he is like beyond normal yet, though.
