I finally beat the game today, off to nightmare mode. I got up to lvl 31 on my Wizard, what can I expect?

If you have pretty decent gear, it will be a walk. Otherwise you might find it a bit difficult till you get better gear.

For some reason my progress isn't being saved... I cleared Act 1 NM but it doesn't let me choose any quests past Wortham

I hate how checkpoints/waypoints are pretty much meaningless. I finish some long ass quest, then when I join a game the next day, just end up having to do the same quests over and over again when playing online. Losing one or two hours of progress. It's like you have to beat the entire act in one gaming session for it to remember where you are quest-wise.

When you say "join a game" did you join someone else's game? Because you start wherever they are.

Well, took me 75 hours to reach Inferno mode on my lvl 60 Demon Hunter.

Lets see what this is all about.

i unfortunately was one of these people. all gold and gear wiped

definitely not phishing, and haven't downloaded anything d3 related. if it was a random key logger i think they would have went for my paypal before my diablo account.

most likely, but they'll never admit to it.

their phone lines are tied up in 2 hours queues from what i read. the online tickets are backlogged by 30k+


i highly doubt these are all random instances of keyloggers and phishing. but hey, the guys on the forums sitting tight who haven't been affected by it claim we're all idiots, so...

I added the authenticator to my account a couple days ago to hopefully help prevent that, but I am sure nothing is 100% secure.

Hopefully Blizzard takes some steps to really stamp this stuff out. How they will ever implement a real money AH with this type of behavior happening is beyond me. They will be up to their ears in lawsuits, if that happens.

I just want to say it again (for those who don't know yet) how extremely important weapon damage is - it should be your most important stat before anything else. All spells etc. will derive their damage/DPS from the weapon damage.

I experimented a lot with this, here is what i found:

When you select a weapon, try to get the highest DPS you can find (in the AH etc.), but preferably also make sure the weapon has plenty of your main stat on it too. (The other stats are not important for your damage, look at plain DPS first)

For example, if you are a wizard, try to find a weapon which is within the top ones for DPS..but also has decent amount if Int. If you select a very high amount of INT in the AH searching for a weapon, the weapons which come up usually have somewhat less DPS than the ones with less Int. For example, if for your current lvl the highest INT on a weapon you find would be 120, try to find one with 70-80 since (usually) the overall DPS on those weapons will be higher than the ones with maxed INT, and the higher DPS (although a little less Int) will then be better for your overall damage.

Regardless of class, it's always: As high pure DPS on the weapon as possible, but at the same time also with your main stat plus whatever other stat you require, eg. vitality if you need more HP. But don't sacrifice the DPS of the weapon for another stat. A ton of Int is worthless if the raw DPS of the weapon is only mediocre.

I spend MANY hours in the AH buying and selling, it's part of the game and makes it interesting for me. This is also the reason i have 2x as much DPS and HP as my mates who don't like the AH as much as i do. I don't think there is anything wrong with it (the trade can be an interesting aspect of the game)...motivation...but of course not every gamer is the same.

I like it since, as opposed to WoW, you do actually get FAR superior weapons/gear in the AH as opposed to grind (at least at my lvl, lvl 50 NM)....occasionally i wish the drops would be as good as the stuff i can find in the AH. It's just no match, at this level.

That's my problem. I can't get past A2 Belial Inferno, because the snakes mob me as a Wizard, and I'm literlly 0-30 in groups for that quest.

My staff is almost 1100 dps (AH buy), but I can't progress to find the better equipment. Sucks.

The game is an epic disappointment for me, it's been only a week and I don't feel the need to play again. Itemization is catastrophic, there are way too little unique properties. The only things that matter in items are +vit/+other stat depending on the character, and attack speed. Legendary items are mostly of no use easily nerfed by magic items not to mention rares. It's just terrible, I don't get the same feeling as when I was hunting for items in D2.
Last, but not least, Inferno is just unplayable. Sure, you can finish it but not in any normal and fun way. Kiting is not fun. Getting further by teleporting to dead bodies of other players and other players doing the same is not fun. Not having a melee character that can actually melee monsters in inferno is not fun. You can't have a char that can withstand monster attacks in inferno, the only way to play is avoiding being hit, cause being hit = dead.

There are some people claiming that inferno is good and it is the players that can't play, well I have a solution that would make both groups happy. Just make all the items droppable on hell difficulty, with maybe a select few legendary available only on inferno.
That's the only way I'm going to play this game again. Right now farming on hell does not make any sense cause items there are worthless and farming on inferno is not enjoyable and can be done only by some exploits, kiting, etc.

The other thing that makes me mad is that you can't have followers when you play with other players. I wanted to finish the game with my brother. I play WD and he plays Wizard and on hell we could no longer progress because we needed a tank and WD summons are utterly worthless, so we had to play alone instead and it was much easier. That's just very bad game design. I specifically chose a WD thinking that his summons should be at least somewhat similar to necromancer in d2. They are not, they are utterly worthless crap. They only provide some tanking on normal. They should scale with the difficulty. The way they are now is not usable.

Looted my first one the other day as well: Moonlight Ward. Amulet with a socket, lots of dex and other stuff.

Even with the flaws, can't stop playing.

Well, my account was compromised and Blizzard are blaming me for being phished or having a virus/trojan. Considering a scan came up completely clean, my Bnet password is unique and only used on Bnet I fail to see how they can be correct in this instance.

They've agreed to roll me back, how far I don't know...

Over the past 48 hours I've found ~7 Legendary/Set items in Act 1 Inferno with my Level 60 Witch Doctor and 269% Magic Find with Nephalem Valour. He's been stripped clean, as well as my Stash.

Password changed, downloading Battle.net Mobile Authenticator, crossing fingers that I don't lose too much.
