I'm in the same situation as you. AVG and Malwarebyes come up clean on my computer and I can't remember the last time either found anything on my computer.

My battle.net account was created when I bought D3 two weeks ago. I have only logged into battle.net and Diablo 3; no other 'Diablo site'.

The software on my computer is licensed and legit. I have not searched for or attempted to use any bot, hack, or gold buying site / program.

I have no idea how my account was compromised but I strongly suspect it wasn't from phishing or malware. I'm now using an Authenticator and will be looking to get items for my now naked barb.

I've tried to have 'reasonable' discussion with others about this issue but all I get in return is, "LOL, ur a dumass!", "stop visiting bad sites!" "you're a liar". Ironically, I'm probably one of the most straight-laced computer users and Diablo gamers in the community. I don't torrent anything. I have no porn on the computer. I only download paid mp3s from Amazon. Still, my account was compromised.

How complex was/is your password? What type of character combinations, and how long is it?
Is it shared with any other online accounts/websites?




On a different note:
seriously, Blizzard, a big Fvck You is being thrown your way. If I could, I would liberally smear it all over your face, if only I could reach out and touch you. After the punch, and the smear, I'd rub your nose in a mess I'd make, just for you.

This is primarily a single player game for me. Because you can't get your shit straight, I now am left twiddling my thumbs, hoping I can long on. I had nothing else planned for tonight, do not desire to play anything else or watch anything. I saw everything was down earlier, so I got some other things done. Servers are go, you say. Bah. Piss on you, I say.

If I had my regular work schedule this week, I'd be even more pissed, since I had purposefully set aside time to play a lengthy session but would be needing to go to bed about now. They are so piss-poor about actually updating honest and accurate status messages, they leave you thinking you might have a chance - but then Error 37 creeps its ugly head. And you have no way of knowing how long until they can actually provide the service we paid for... so you sit there thinking "well, I've wasted an hour twiddling my thumbs browsing dumb shit. maybe now? ... no? oh, well, fvck you too then."

God dammit...the maintenance brought down everything in the AH, and I was watching 2 really nice chest armor pieces with MF and no buyout. At least while they were up I had the illusion of being able to jump in at the last second to claim a good upgrade.

Blizzard is doing really well aren't they? lol

I gotta admit...while the game itself exceeded my expectations gameplay- and story-wise, the lack of any semblance of end-game balance, the boring legendaries and sets, and all the bugs and downtime were totally expected. The sheer number of people getting their accounts broken into, however, weren't...I knew there'd be some, but this seems exessive. I'm not in the camp that believes it's a vulnerability on Blizzard's end (it's by no means obvious Fallen), but it is definitely possible.

Im assuming you mean corrupt? Just go into the D3 folder and delete it and let it dl it again.

They had patch issues today. I had the edit the agent.db file because it was stuck on trying to patch the wrong language than what was set.

Password was eight characters that included uppper case, lower case, a symbol and a number. I have used that password before on other accounts but not for some time.

Password has since been changed to something with twelve characters.

I had pass that would have required >a quadrillion iterations to guess on the low end breached. I only played solo, and its been since forever that a virus has been detected on any virus scans I have ran. . Not counting legitimate stuff it was just hating on, but that comes with setting the heuristic setting as high as possible and was a known issue. Not once have I had an account I used compromised and within ~week my battle.net account was. It was however used on some other trusted, and large, sites that but they never reported any breaches and no irregularities occurred with my stuff at any of them.
Now I have the authenticator set not that it matters since there are already ways around it and I changed my password to require over an octillion iterations if simply trying to force it.

It is far more likely they have had a server breach than any of my stuff having been compromised by all but the most dedicated individuals. Well unless blizzard doesn't have any delay for forcing ones-self in, but even in that case it would still take quite a long time and they would still need to know what account name I use as well.

Someone last night was buying ALL low level rares, meaning I could not buy a single item for my lowbie DH.
It is retarded when you click search and it comes up with a list of Sold rares.

If this trend continues or gets worse with people using AH bots (think its obvious that is what is happening), then 1) nothing good ever actually drops for me with the stats I need 2) I can't even buy what I want from the AH then 3) log off and patiently wait for Mechwarrior Online.

We'll see. I'm just not very happy with the game now...not for 60 Euros.

Does the support ticket restore all your characters, or just one? Couldn't you just start a new class you haven't played before in the mean time?

I was able to get in for about an hour. I had some gold from completed auctions that I used to buy cheap gear. I then was able to play in act 3 nightmare for a while. However, the game just booted me out.

While Blizzard might have been enjoying the wave of success that it had with Diablo 3, which apparently is the fastest selling game on the PC, it looks like the company might have gotten itself into a spot of trouble with the South Korean Fair Trade Commission (FTC). So, why would the FTC get involved with Diablo 3, you might ask? It seems that all the server errors and being unable to login has resulted in average of 150 complaints being filed a day. On top of that, there have also been numerous complaints about hacked accounts which Blizzard has since issued a statement for.


At the moment the South Korean FTC has stated that they are going to “look into the situation” and there’s no word if they will be taking any action, but if they’re going to be the first, we wouldn’t be surprised if the effect snowballed and other trade commissions around the world start investigating Blizzard as well. What do you guys think? Do you think that Blizzard’s attempt at creating an always-on game has backfired, and do you think that all this attention could force them to ultimately create an offline version of the game?

The information isn't very clear... It says "you have these characters at these levels, once the account is reverted you will have these characters at these levels".

It appears to me that the actual state of my account will be reverted, not just copied... going back to a place where any new characters wont exist.

Maybe I'm wrong?

Edit: the stash is shared as well... meaning any items I put in the stash or new gold obtained will be over-written. Not that big of a deal though.

So curious if anyone has had this issue...I have a level 17 monk at the beginning stages of Act 2. I stopped playing him this weekend and I created 2 new characters that I've been playing.

I sign in 10 minutes ago with my Monk and he is still all the same as before but I'm all of a sudden I'm on the quest to get the Skeleton's Crown back in the beginning of Act 1...

So I'm a level 17 Monk and my level 5 Wizard is on the same quest. WTF just happened!!

Hit the "Change Quest" (I think?) Button when selecting your Monk and you can select his Last quest. No idea why it was changed but anyway, that may be it.
