For anyone in the 50-60 level range... what runs have you been doing for exp? I've been reading a bit about it and it seems like Azmodon (I'm not sure which act this is..), The Road to Alcarnus - Lt. Vachem (Act 2), and Quest 1 of Act 4 are pretty popular. I'm gonna give them all a run tonight and see what happens. Has anyone tried any of these?
Or run anything other than these?

All I did was quest through once from A1 to A4, and I hit Lv60 somewhere in the middle of A4. I think I was 57 by the end of A2.

my monk is in A2 on Hell and my wizard will be on act 1 soon. act one wasent so bad when i did it the other day with my brother. butcher was many many times easier then some elite packs

Yeah I have ran into some elite packs that are PITA too.. I've only been running solo, with the templar acting as an occasional speedbump.

I like keeping him around because he keeps telling me how great I am, although at this stage its becoming borderline flirting which is starting to disturb me

I think the problem I had in butcher hell was lack of DPS.. Too much running, not enough time to turn and burn (DH), so the fire grates would end up owning me. I need to look at some different builds, but every time I differ from my current, and add things like strafe ( which allows you to shoot and run) I always end up back at my current due to lack of effectiveness.

I am curious what tag alongs people are using. I use the templar exclusively (for my Wizard and my Demon Hunter). He is a great meat shield, if he really doesn't actually DO much damage. The occasional healing that he gives and the fact that he distracts opponents from attacking me is the only real value I see in having a companion.

But what of the other two. Are they really any use?

I skipped D1 and played some of D2 prior to the expansion.

I've got to say, I did a disservice to my gaming heritage. D3 is absolutely amazing and it is making me stick to this type of game far more than Torchlight ever did. I bought TL on a sale, and honestly after about 2 hours I was bored out of my mind and never touched it again.

All the hating aside from the hardcore Diablo fans, this game is absolutely amazing in terms of just raw fun. I've fallen victim to the "just a little longer" thing and found myself whacking away until 2AM after saying I'd stop at 11:30PM haha.

I got it free with my WoW sub and honestly probably wouldn't have bought it do to not really enjoying these genres as much. I've yet to find any issues with this game and am eagerly awaiting the harder difficulties and better loot.

I wish it was easier to tell a mobs resistance. Been playing with lightning lately and enjoy just standing shocking the crap out of everything, but some spiders seem to be fairly immune.

Maybe I should read the manual. oh wait..

i think (I THINK) that if the spiders are blue they are lighting resistant, if they are green they are poison resistant... those are the only spiders i can think of

no idea if im correct

Ran into a pack of super fast fireball throwing invulnerable spiders in act 2 Hell last night. Was pretty ridiculous. Probably should have just re-spawned the level, but I gave it a go for a while. It seemed like the invulnerable was bugged as usually it's only for a while, but these stayed invulnerable permanently and I eventually gave up.

Wait till you find fast, invulnerable, mortar, vortex elite pack and a teleport, immune, arcane, desecration right next to each other in inferno. Might as well delete D3 at that point.

They are permanently invulnerable, you have to kill the champ and the rest die with it. They are pretty damn tough before you get to lvl 60 and gear up

Ahhh I see. That's pretty insane. Hard enough killing the minions one by one before the boss.

I use the enchantress with my WD. They have some hilarious conversations.

ie.

Enchantress: "Are you considered handsome where you're from"
WD : "Why do you think I dress so little"

It's something like that.

There's another one where she talks about using a charm spell on one of her female teachers or something.

I don't get it, so if you run into these enemies that are impossible for you to defeat, you just restart that part and hope they don't respawn?

I'm not 100% sure that they are permanently invulnerable(it seemed this way when I've ran into them) but the champ of the group is not invulnerable, only the minions. You kill the champ and the rest die. They are a bitch

yea the mercs dont really do much besides some meat shielding, the temps healing can be nice but he pretty much gets 1 shot in hell unless you give him good gear. mine actually does some damage, some of the passives the other 2 have are nice as well

my brother hit some elites last night in hell that gave him a hard time, the chat log full of &%&*^*&^% was pretty funny

These are the worst, at least for me. I usually just kite everything and kill them off, however, these minions just keep coming. At least the Demon Hunter traps can slow them.

Have only used the temp for the same thing, also prefer DH and wiz.. I found this little move where you can dip into a room, and pull him into the doorway, then run back out behind him and off to the side a bit & let loose + he holds up the mobs in the room.

Interesting about the scoundrel and CC though, will have to give that a shot.

Good question, was wondering about that myself esp getting stuck on Butcher & trying to change out "fire" stuff to cold etc. I use lighting on my elemental arrow exclusively, seems to be the most effective *shrug*

Then again, I wonder if mob resists makes a diff at all.. Kinda hard to tell in the heat of the battle.. I assume there are no parsers for this game, like advanced combat tracker ? I don't even know if there are log files to parse, haven't even looked TBH.

I haven't seen any sort of resistance, if there's any. If a mob dies faster than another I assume its because they have less HP. You can turn on damage dealt and see if you do significantly less damage to one mob type. I would think frost enchanted/arcane enchanted mobs would have respective resistances... but they don't really.

Also I use the enchantress for the merc because she's funny.

One thing I would be careful of. I was playing my wizard in Nightmare and came across some lightning bats. It appeared that the more I electrocuted them, the more of them there were. I couldn't swear to it (it was late at night and I had been playing for hours) but I was pretty sure that the electricity actually spawned more creatures.

On a separate note, I was curious. If you guys had to rate the big bosses based on toughness to defeat, how would it go? For me, it would be:

1. Balial
2. Diablo
3. Asomdan

It might simply have been that Balial was the first major 'Big Boss' that I encountered, and that, by the time I faced Diablo i was anticipating a tough fight and was ready for it, but I honestly felt (based on appropriate level) that the Balial fight was the toughest (for me).

Any others have this?

There's enemies that take way less damage. I think fallen angels or something like that are one. (In NM they have about 4800hp (Most things have 10k+) but hits do 1/4th the damage to them... Fucking annoying.)

Best inferno farming spots? I have been grinding out act 1 treasure goblin runs and done some act 4 ghost runs and haven't gotten much. Maybe 3 850+ dps weapons. Any other spots? I have tried hitting an act 1 resplendent chest as well.

mind letting me know where this resplendent chest is?
