How do you guys deal with those 'anti-melee' mobs with lasers that rotate or that spawn pits of lava around themselves, or that drag chains across each other and trap you? Some of them do all of the above, and I haven't found a good way to deal with them other than by teaming up with a range class.

I mean if you play a barbarian or monk, I know how the range classes deal with them. Kiting.

You'll have to kite as a melee. but if they're a fast/vortexing with fire chains then you're probably fucked anyways

This. You're fucked if you're melee in so many ways. It's hard to fucking kite too. Most of the times I try to move far away, my guy ends up attacking instead.

Which of the 3 ranged classes (WD, Wiz, DH) have the best survivability? Which has the best DPS?

Survivability doesnt matter in anything passed a2 inferno. Everything will hit for 30k hp in a2 minimum, special abilities from normal monsters will hit for 50k+ and you may have 40k. Now wizards probably have the best survivability up until that point but once your shields cant hold up to the hits (which happens somewhere in a2) you throw survivability out the window and go for pure dps. As it stands, WD has the best dps right now, but that has more to do with the 3s invulnerability and abilities that are broken (or op).

here is a question, wtf it kiting? Is that some wow term that made its way to diablo?

That term has been around a lot longer than wow.

Not sure if trolling...

Anyway, kiting means keeping the mobs at distance while you DPS them and never let them come close to you. Especially important for a caster...

not trolling. Just never seen that term before. but been seeing it a lot the last few days looking at d3 forums and heard my roommate use that term and he is a longtime wow player. And thank you for the answer

That term has been around a lot longer than wow.

and how am I to know that?

Yeah. Unfortunately, this game isnt that. Heh. Not sure who the people are who designed D3 or who work for the current Blizzard, but it feels like they are a little amateurish if you ask me. I could have made many elements of D3 better myself. They should have hired me. : /

iirc some of the main d3 people worked on old fallout games and company of heros. So they aren't slouches but it isn't the original team of 1 and 2

Killed Siegebreaker in Act 3 Inferno tonight (solo). Wiz with 24k life, 22k dps, 50-60% resists, and some serious survival skills.

The hardest part in getting to him, was the first few areas, but once I got to the 'destroy the siege engines' all the way to Siegebreaker, it really wasn't all that hard. Now this is a 22k dps wiz speaking, not some 40-60k dps wizards we hear about. Survivability is key imo.

Siegebreaker was actually pretty easy. I forgot to bring Blizzard, so I just dropped Hydra's, and ran around him in a big circle so he couldn't charge me and 1 shot me. Took awhile, but super-easy. Gonna farm the hell out of him and the span to him for the buff tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a 1k dps 1h.

Impressive. I'm at like 60+k life with 31k dps and I'm starting to have trouble at the end of act 1 lol. I really can't stand kiting though, that shit isn't fun. That's my issue with the game, fun factor. It's similar enough to D2, but the auction house just kills magic finding, eliminates the need completely imo. But as long as the auction house is still profitable and gold has value, I'll stick around

i really dont know why everyone is bitching about this game. I can understand being upset about servers being down, thats frustrating. But ive been having a good time so far, although my playtime is limited. I have my Monk up to level 13 and am just to the point of killing the goatmen in the field.
I like the auction house. sat around for an hour last night buying low and selling high and trippling my cash.

The game is a little cheesy at places. The Skeleton King dialog was something straight out of a bad horror film. But some of the dialog is great with the one offs when you find some people in the wilderness (the farmer and his wife) and the Templar can be a hoot to listen to.

All in all the game is entertaining. I wish i could get more game time in, so i dont see myself beating normal for another month or two. But once July 17th rolls around i'll be plaing Mechwarrior Online, so Diablo will take a back seat.

As a Barb, suck them in and pop WotB and Earthquake. They die quickly.

I have hit the brick wall for me I think. I am at Belial in Inferno. After 12+ hours this is starting to not be fun. I get to phase three and half the time I die because of something dumb and the other half because of some glitch / bug.

I am playing a WD with 40.5k dps and 14k health. I am getting to phase three and everything is a one shot on me, as it was with 35k health as well so I went dps.

My Barb is in act 2 Inferno and it is not fun. So, Act 2 sucks and I am growing tired of Belial.

I was on the AH yesterday and purchased a 600dps 2h legendary for around 40k. I figure use it till I find better then sell. Even if i can re-sell for 25-30k I will be happy. But it was a 1200hp gain + 1100 DPS gain. So it was a no brainer.

Last night I finally hit 60 (and therefore Inferno).... holy good god. Myself (Wizard) and a buddy (DH) had trouble starting right after the Cathedral. Without a tank it was a bitch. However, the Neph Valor is amazing. A shit ton of gold and 3-4 rares per boss is kind of ridiculous. I guess at this point it's just time to start farming for better gear. Was also thinking about starting a Monk or Barb tonight if anyone wants to start a new char.

PS - Thanks to nykid (nyker? ... or something like that) for the help with hell Diablo

I have to say, Belial is by far the hardest boss out of all of them. Would probably be Belial --> Diablo --> Butcher --> Azmodan.

mind letting me know where this resplendent chest is?

Act 1, mission 6 - Talk to Alric. You port to the Field of Misery, run to the camp where you met the bandit, get the check point, run west past the bag and there is sometimes a clearing with a chest. Careful though, once opened a named tree spawns and a few other trees do as well. Also, sometimes a farm will spawn with a dead charging mob. Loot him, kill the elite frog, and go down the cellar for another resplendent.

Also, cleared to Diablo last night in Inferno. So glad I had Tyreal to help. Izual was a joke once you kill his first spawn of mobs though.

My friend last night dropped a 800 dps 1h bow for me, and switching it out for the bow I was using on that hand (about 550 dps) and it jumped my DPS up by 6k. Now I'm sitting at 45k dps, 25k life, 300 resists and act 2 is a bit easier now. I'm a DH fyi.

Can do a solo inferno Butcher run with 5 stacks in about 20 minutes (did a run before work this morning haha). Act 2 is much harder.

One thing I would be careful of. I was playing my wizard in Nightmare and came across some lightning bats. It appeared that the more I electrocuted them, the more of them there were. I couldn't swear to it (it was late at night and I had been playing for hours) but I was pretty sure that the electricity actually spawned more creatures.

On a separate note, I was curious. If you guys had to rate the big bosses based on toughness to defeat, how would it go? For me, it would be:

1. Balial
2. Diablo
3. Asomdan

It might simply have been that Balial was the first major 'Big Boss' that I encountered, and that, by the time I faced Diablo i was anticipating a tough fight and was ready for it, but I honestly felt (based on appropriate level) that the Balial fight was the toughest (for me).

Any others have this?

I agree. Balial is a Biatch to beat.

How do you guys get THAT much DPS, i mean i am a wizard and now have a 900+DPS weapon and 1585 INT ...getting 29K DPS but *with* the magic weapon buff. How on earth do you get 45k DPS with "only" a 800 dps wep? What are your stats?

By the way i more or less just hit 60 and i am using a 2H mace. When i look for a wep on the AH i look at DPS as well as highest possible min-max dmg as well as INT on it and preferrably also Attack speed and/or crit dmg. Still dont think i would get to 45k DPS.

One thing to remember is that attack speed makes a BIG difference. I assume it makes sense that 15% increased attack speed means 15% more dps(and this includes all that damage from int). However, that's not really 15% more damage. Those orbs are still doing the same amount of damage, which is kind of misleading. Lower attack speed for the same dps weapon will do more damage. It's a trade off though. I was just reading a guide suggesting at least 2 attacks per second for wizards in inferno so they can cast spells quickly while on the run.
