I'm ok with changing default AH time to 36H, seems like a large majority of sales occur in the first ~2 hours or so or not at all anyway.

My thinking is that it's just a matter of fine-tuning your pricing. I.E. if all your auctions are selling really quick (or in the first 2 hours, at any rate) you could probably ask more for your items -- unless you're moving lots of stuff and the 10 auction limit is your bottleneck, then, pricing stuff to move is likely the thing to do.

When stuff just doesn't sell, it's either on account of no demand for that item, (I've stopped wasting AH slots on less than stellar blues because of this, or because the asked price is just too high.

My gut feeling is that properly priced items should take a while longer to find a buyer. But that the extra time is worth it because I get quite a bit more gold for my nice rares this way.

A great DH build for inferno which I and many others are using:

Hungering > Devouring
Elemental Arrow > Nether Tentacle
Bat Companion
Caltrops > Torturous
SS > Lingering
Prep > (the one that gives 30% chance to not use cooldown)

Good kiting build, make sure your boots have +movement speed (at least 12%) and if you can get another item with +movement all the better. Lacunai bracers are an option for that

What do you like for the passives ?

I have a couple odd setups I like, but may have to change as things progress..

My RT Click is the bolo arrow with the poison that turns it into 3... Like this because it fans out and hits 3 targets.

my left click is the rapid fire with the pierce through rune ( 2nd to the last). I use this to unload when enemies get close.

For Elemental Arrow(#2 key), I like the lightning ball as it really lights up those big groups, it seems to cover a wide area and hit alot of enemies. I haven't really liked any of hte others runes on this, but I dont think I have the tenticles one yet ? will have to double check, and try it out..

Prep I use the refill hatred rune.. It always seems like I am needing hatred more for burst dps, although I have just started really using the front flip in hell which is competing for dicipline.


How do you guys use the shadow/lingering, do you normally pop this when you get like walled in ? Do you still take damage from traps ?( like the moltens, chains, or the az green pits) I assume so.. I see everyone using this, I imagine it will become a necessity for me soon too.

Ive never gotten into those strafe / evasive fire ones either, but I see some people using them..

Is it because some of the weapons use the weapon's damage as base as opposed to the overall DPS? Similar to what wow does anyway, you'd have base damage form mainhand applied but not the offhand.

True, but given how relatively easy farming is (and how quickly your 'to sell' catalog accumulates) I tend to prefer volume to margin. For anything with genuinely good/great stats I'll price it accordingly, but even then I tend to aim a bit low to stay liquid.

The problem is the game is fairly new and things change every day. People, including myself, are still trying to get a handle on what items sell for. Without the ability to cancel listings, its kind of hard to "test the waters" and do that unless youre really taking quite a loss on potential profit.

I now have 10 auctions sitting there derp derp that I cant do anything about.

As for the AH.. A search for similar items feature would be sweet!! I spend quite a bit of time futzing with the stat filters to find comparable items.

Maybe I should just get a set price for OK pieces in a certain range.. say lvl 50-55, less than 100 primary stats = 2k, or only 1 primary =700 etc. Would like to start moving my lower end items through like darke mentioned, but I just dont have the patients so I end up with several unused auction slots and tons of stuff getting sold to the merchant

Also, just so you all know in case you haven't checked, passwords are NOT case-sensitive. I don't know how the hell Blizzard decided this was ok, but I just entered my password (1/2 the letters were caps) in all lowercase and it was accepted.

I wish we could filter the types of items we want to see on the ground after they drop. I would totally filter out any gray and white items.

What do you like for the passives ?

Generally you are going to want to use Sharpshooter, Archery, and either Steady Aim or NightStalker. I'm using nightstalker to get that extra discipline for more smoke screens and caltrops droppings.

In regards to the skills you are using...(at the risk of sounding snooty...) they are probably viable for where you are at right now but if you reach inferno, you're probably going to find them to be not-so-great. Especially rapid fire, which turns you into a turret. Thats a no-no for a DH in inferno, where you can't afford to be hit even once. Nether Tentacle is kinda like ball lightning but does a crapload more damage. Its amazing when you're kiting, you line all your enemies up in a straight line, have them go through your traps, and tentacle the hell outta them.

Not too many people use the hatred version of the prep rune (that I have seen). If you run bat companion it should help resolve your issue with running out of hatred. Also you can get a cloak, quiver with +discipline and +hatred regen if you're still running into issues.

Caltrops > tortorous is the one that roots them in place for 2 seconds (which lasts probably less than 1 second in inferno). Helps a lot with kiting. You want your enemies to be lined up single file right at the edge of your screen while you unload nether tentacles at them.

Use smokescreen whenever the enemy gets close to you basically. Especially if they wall you in. Also you will have to use it when they fire mortars or other ranged attacks, unless you are really quick on your toes.

As long as they make Pages/Tomes/Gems appear in a different color (why is it white now?), I would love this.

I play with my son and his GF and one of their friends. All 24 to 28.
2 nights a week and we have a BLAST

Cripes they pick up so fast and are on to the next battle.

I come running up with my shawl and cane, trying to sort through my whites and grays and stuff... Dropping them (on purpose) as I run, take a shot of geritol and leap into the fray just as the last mob dies.


Siggggh. Once again, they are long gone... I am rapid clicking EVERY FRIGGIN THING on the floor.

Not sure why people didn't realize that about quivers. Never got one to drop in beta but realized what they were for as soon as I got my first one in live and that was the reason I asked on group preference recently. Have several sub 20 rare 1h so will probably use those then move into the 20+ bow/quivers I have stocked.

agree with this.. I ended up getting it, but it seemed kinda odd putting a quiver in your offhand ( same hand a 2nd weapon would go in)... So if your using a 2 hand bow you're what, using 3 hands ? lol.

Imagine its on your shoulder, well ok then why cant I use one with 2 1h crossbows

Would make more sense to me with an ammo/quiver slot, that way you still get the penalty for using the superior stats of 2h weapons
Might also make the dual wield builds more viable, as it seems like they are not really optimal right now

bows != crossbows

When you use a 2 hand bow, you need one hand to draw and shoot the arrow.

When you use 2 1-hand bows, you don't draw any arrows, the bolts are pre-loaded.

Obviously in both cases, the amount of arrows you have in the "quiver" and/or preloaded is infinite.
